“Sorry to have kept you waiting.”

With a confident smile, Delilah set the exclusive black box on the display case. Unlike before, her movements were now full of assurance.

“I didn’t allow you to see it immediately because this necklace was reserved by Mr. Downey,” she said, glancing at Ethan. Unnoticed by the crowd, the sales associate winked at him. “So I had to ask for his permission first. Of course I’m responsible for its security. Please handle with care, okay?”

Delilah pushed the box forward toward the fat man who had bet against Martin. “Here you go.”

The man gave a polite smile toward Ethan and nodded before turning his attention to the box.

“Mr. Downey, my name is Jack Phillips. You might not know me, but I’m one of the top people at your father’s company. Don’t worry. Let me take care of this trash for you.”

When he said “trash,” his eyes flicked to Martin with disgust.

“Thanks, Jack. Show me — and don’t disappoint me.”

“Certainly, Mr. Downey.”

Jack looked over at Martin.

“Hey, before we continue, I’ll give you one last chance to back down. Admit defeat and apologize to Mr. Downey. If he forgives you, we’ll call this whole bet off.”

Martin smiled faintly.

“There’s nothing to apologize for. The truth will come out shortly.”

“The line between confidence and stupidity is thin — and you, clearly, are on the wrong side of it.”

Saying that, Jack pushed the box toward Martin.

“Now hurry up and tell me what to do.”

Like Jack, everyone present was eager to see what Martin would do next.

“He looks clueless,” someone whispered.

“He’s just stalling until Mr. Downey steps in and teaches him a lesson. Worthless son‑in‑law,” another scoffed.

While the crowd buzzed, Ethan and Delilah exchanged large, satisfied smiles.

Martin’s brow creased.

“So they swapped the boxes?” he murmured, realizing something. “No wonder the staff hesitated earlier.”

Now he understood: Delilah had taken the box to the back not to ask Ethan’s permission, but to switch boxes. The two of them were clearly working together.

“Hey, what’s taking so long? You think I’ll wait forever?” Jack snapped, impatient.

“Tell me what to do now, or my fist is going to land on you.”

Though fat, Jack was solidly built; even if he was a foot shorter than Martin’s roughly 190 cm, he wasn’t someone to be underestimated.

“You’re taking too long.”

Irritated, Ethan approached the display and picked up the black box.

“You’re saying the real Eclat should have matching serial numbers everywhere, right? Fine.”

“Here — check this.”

Ethan handed the box to Jack.

“See if the serial on the box matches the serial on that display.”

“Right, sir.” Jack did as ordered.

Everyone tensed. Even though most were convinced Ethan was right, the verification still made hearts race.

The fat man held the box close to his face and then bent to inspect the display — doing it twice before nodding decisively.

“No doubt at all, sir. They match exactly.”

A collective exhale swept through the crowd.

“Mr. Downey, we always knew you wouldn’t lie,” one bystander commented.

“In this city, nobody doubts that only people from families like yours can afford jewelry like this,” someone else added, pointing at Martin. “Ignore the idiot. He’s trash who doesn’t deserve your attention.”

“Man, you’re stubborn! What else do you have to say now?” Jack snarled at Martin. “Clearly it’s authentic. Everyone can see that but you.”

“Well, we haven’t checked the tag on the necklace itself. This isn’t over yet,” Martin replied calmly.

“If the boxes were swapped, the tag could have been swapped too,” Martin realized.

“That’s very likely,” he thought analytically. “But I need to see the necklace.”

“Fine. If you’re that stubborn, I’ll show you.” Jack reached to open the box — but Ethan’s hand moved faster. “Stop.”

“Sir, please allow me to slap this worthless man.” Jack begged. “After I show him, I’ll wipe that smug look off his face myself.”

Ethan hesitated for a moment.

That was when Delilah leaned in and whispered to him.

“Don’t worry. I swapped the tag as well. It should be safe now.”

Ethan’s grin widened. “Good! You didn’t make the same mistake. Very reliable.”

“All right — do it.” Ethan lifted his hand off the box.

Jack placed both hands on either side of the ultra-premium leather box and opened it.

When the lid came off, the crowd held its breath at what they saw.

“Oh my! It’s truly exquisite!”

No one could resist praising the gleaming Eclat.

“This is the most beautiful piece I’ve ever seen in my life!” someone gushed.

Jack did his job carefully, checking the serial tag on the necklace and matching it with the number on the box.

“Same! The serials match!” he declared with a broad smile.

Like everyone else, Jack had been a bit nervous playing the role of verifier — but now relief and pride filled him.

With nothing left to doubt, he turned his gaze toward Martin. The flash in his eyes radiated a desire to destroy, and at the same time, his lips moved in anger.

“Hey, fool — your time’s up!” He shouted at Martin.

“Keep your promise and divorce Miss Hayes right now!”

“Isn’t our estimate already very reasonable?”Riley’s expression was slightly tense as she adjusted the collar of her blazer while standing on the escalator heading toward the third floor. This was her first time investing in a company outside the capital. She didn’t want to be overly anxious—but she certainly didn’t want to be careless either.“I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly,” she added, not looking at the assistant beside her.“I can say this with confidence—we are, ma’am.”The assistant nodded slightly.Though she appeared somewhat tense, her face was filled with confidence.“Two hundred million, as we discussed earlier, is the most appropriate range given the current condition of this company.”Palm Coast Enterprise might have a valuation of two billion dollars, which made two hundred million reasonable for ten percent of its shares. However, the stock price had dropped sharply over the past few months. If that decline wasn’t handled carefully, the value of ten

“Hey, man, what makes you think you can come to a place like this?”Martin had just stepped out of the taxi when a doorman blocked his path, his expression hostile.Dressed only in a plain white T-shirt and worn navy jeans, Martin looked far more like a drifter compared to the doorman, who wore a uniform far too luxurious for someone in his position.“I’m not sure that’s something I need to explain to you,” Martin replied calmly. “My business is with the people inside.”Before him stood a circular building painted in light blue, adorned with ocean-themed ornaments. Known as the Sea House, it was where Palm Coast Enterprise held its most important executive meetings.Martin had obtained this information from Gianna. Since he wanted something significant from them, coming directly here was the most effective option. However, due to its elite nature, no one was allowed inside unless they had legitimate business.Martin continued walking forward.“Listen, I don’t like jokes—especially fro

Thirty minutes later, at Havenport South Station.“Please, sir.”Alfred opened the rear door of the black Bentayga for Martin.“No. I’ll take a taxi.”Instead, Martin headed in the opposite direction.“But, sir—”Alfred looked stunned. After all, Martin was about to meet the executives of Palm Coast Enterprise for an important business discussion.Arriving by taxi would only make them doubt him.If you arrived in a proper vehicle, at the very least, they would be willing to listen.Whatever you said afterward wouldn’t matter as much. But if you arrived in a way that failed to inspire confidence, they might not even bother listening to the first word that left your mouth—no matter how important it was.It was a small detail, but one with enormous impact.“Relax.”Martin smiled and waved his hand lightly. He understood the concierge’s concern.“I’ll get what I want.”***Meanwhile, at a hotel inside Palm Coast Resort.“You useless brat! “Sir, from all the potential candidates we’ve reviewed, I can say with considerable confidence that this is the most suitable one.”Alfred pointed at a name on the list.Palm Coast Enterprise.A company overseeing several luxury resorts and upscale residences in Havenport.“With a valuation reaching two billion,” he continued, “this will be an excellent company for you.”Generally, businesses started small or medium-sized.But that didn’t apply to Martin—he already had vast experience and an extremely strong financial base.He needed a company large enough to accelerate growth, yet not so large that decision-making became inflexible due to board approvals.Alfred was certain the name he had chosen fit Martin’s ambitions perfectly.“Yes, this looks good.”Martin seemed satisfied as his eyes scanned through the company’s profile line by line.“In that case, can you arrange a meeting with them?” he asked.Hearing that, Alfred nodded confidently, sharing the same sense of satisfaction.“O

“If they’ve already figured out who I am, then they should also know about the Hayes family, shouldn’t they?”Inside the private express staff room, Martin murmured under his breath as he looked out the window. His thoughts drifted to Hunt3rs.That group of assassins might only be targeting him.But they could easily use Quinn—or anyone from the Hayes family—as bait to lure him in.“So the divorce really can’t happen?” he muttered again, deep in thought.Originally, Martin didn’t intend to ask anything of Quinn. If she wanted to side with her family and go through with the divorce, he wouldn’t force her to stay. But now everything was different.Everything seemed to hinge on his decision. If he allowed the divorce to happen, Quinn’s life might be in danger.“They’d definitely use Quinn to get close to me.”Wife or ex-wife didn’t matter. “Aren’t they supposed to head to the platform already?”Martin directed his gaze toward a group of workers standing silently on the floor. Their faces couldn’t hide their uncertainty. In truth, they really were supposed to board the morning train—yet they were forced to wait for the afternoon one instead. They had booked their tickets well in advance. But because they had purchased the cheaper fare, there was nothing they could do when the clerk and the security guard blocked them.“What exactly are they waiting for?”“Sir…”Jackson quickly turned around, confusion spread across his face.He didn’t understand why the young man was asking something like that.“As for the passengers in this station, you don't need to worry.”He answered with a wide, confident smile. He believed Martin was someone who cared about others, and he was proud to say the station provided excellent service—just as Martin probably expected.“They will all receive the best service from our staff.”He nodded firml
