“Idiot! How could you be so careless? That trash will figure out our plan any minute!”

Ethan’s voice snapped, barely contained. He could not hide his irritation.

“I didn’t notice the display had a serial number… this is my fault.”

Delilah’s face was pale with panic; her eyes glistened with tears.

Two days ago, to impress Quinn, Ethan had conspired with this female sales associate to present Quinn with an Eclat. At the same time, the boutique’s latest original piece had already been reserved by another buyer.

Of course Ethan had no intention of buying such an expensive necklace for a first date. He paid Delilah to procure a convincing duplicate.

“Even your manager wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the real one and this.”

That’s what the counterfeit maker had told Delilah when handing over the fake Eclat. The plan had felt foolproof—until Martin arrived.

“Stop making excuses and come up with something! I don’t want our plan ruined!”

Ethan tore a hand through his perfectly-groomed hair, feeling the whole gambit teetering on the edge.

“Damn it! How does that parasite know so much about high-end jewelry?”

From the corner of his eye, Ethan glared at Martin. If not for that trashy man, he’d have successfully impressed both Quinn and Catherine.

Two minutes passed and no solution surfaced.

“Delilah, think! If we don’t do something now they’ll start to suspect us.”

Ethan grabbed the sales associate by both shoulders and shook her hard.

There was a reason the young staff had agreed to help. She had once been a gullible patient whom Ethan had manipulated into satisfying his whims. Through his flattery, she’d been willing to do anything—even sell a fake Eclat as real.

Though Delilah’s action didn’t steal money from the boutique directly, it was a betrayal that could ruin the store’s reputation in the long run. As a senior employee, she nonetheless faced inevitable dismissal once the truth surfaced.

“Wait.”

Delilah suddenly turned, her eyes landing on Catherine.

“You said they’re from the Hayes family?” she asked.

“Yeah, but they were expelled from the clan. They’re useless now. If they still held influence, they wouldn’t even look my way,” Martin said.

“Ethan, listen— the real Eclat is still inside the store.”

She pointed toward the safe boxes behind the counter—those reserved for the highest-tier collections, accessible only by managers.

“But—” she continued, “the safe code for the Eclat is only known by the owner.”

“Yeah, okay. So what does Catherine have to do with this safe? Stop asking dumb questions.” Ethan was impatient; he didn’t trust that the middle-aged woman would cooperate.

“Ethan, you don’t understand. The owner of that Eclat is someone from the Hayes clan.”

“What?”

Ethan’s eyes widened in surprise.

“That means…”

Delilah nodded slowly, a sly light in her eyes.

“We can use that to get the code.”

“You’re brilliant! That’s a perfect idea!”

Ethan couldn’t hide his excitement.

“Wait here. I’ll bring the woman over.”

He escorted Catherine to the back of the boutique—the employees-only area where customers rarely set foot.

“Ma’am, I’m so sorry to trouble you, but we need your help.” Ethan’s voice carried a hint of awkwardness.

“Ethan, what’s wrong? Just tell me what you need,” Catherine replied, composed.

Delilah stepped forward.

"Mrs. Hayes, one of the items from the main Hayes residence is currently in our safe. Unfortunately, we can’t open it without authorization from someone there. However, you could help us.”

Help open the safe—meaning she could provide the code.

Catherine wasn’t stupid; she knew safes had codes for a reason, especially when they contained extremely valuable items.

“Even if I could get the code, why would I give it to you?” she asked, narrowing her eyes. “You have no right to it.”

“Ma’am, here’s the situation.” Ethan, sensing Catherine’s skepticism, chose his words carefully.

"This lady put the Eclat in the wrong box. I need your help switching it with the original. If it's left as is, people will see it and assume the Eclat is counterfeit.”

Ethan didn’t know whether his explanation would hold, but it was his only hope. If it failed, not only would his name be dragged in front of Quinn, but the whole crowd would turn on him.

“Wrong box?” Catherine crossed her arms, doubtful. It seemed implausible that a boutique as prestigious as Victoria could make such a glaring mistake.

“Please, Ma’am—just this once. Help us.” Ethan dropped to his knees, pleading.

“I will do anything you ask in return.” He sounded desperate.

Catherine’s instincts told her something was off. Yet seeing the man’s earnest posture sparked an idea.

“Yes— I can bring this young man to the main house tonight,” she thought, her eyes gleaming. “He’ll be a perfect match for Quinn.”

A thin smile spread across Catherine’s face. “I’ll help. But on one condition.”

Ethan lifted his head, his face lighting with hope. He didn’t care what the condition was—anything to crush that parasite Martin.

Before Ethan could celebrate, Catherine added, “You must come with my daughter tonight.”

“Ma’am…” Ethan’s eyes widened so far they almost popped out. It was more than he had dared hope for—not only Catherine’s assistance, but an invitation to the Hayes main residence. Did this mean she approved of his relationship with Quinn?

He forced himself to stay composed. “Of course. I will do whatever you ask.” He said it firmly, his voice serious, though inside he was screaming with glee.

“Isn’t our estimate already very reasonable?”Riley’s expression was slightly tense as she adjusted the collar of her blazer while standing on the escalator heading toward the third floor. This was her first time investing in a company outside the capital. She didn’t want to be overly anxious—but she certainly didn’t want to be careless either.“I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly,” she added, not looking at the assistant beside her.“I can say this with confidence—we are, ma’am.”The assistant nodded slightly.Though she appeared somewhat tense, her face was filled with confidence.“Two hundred million, as we discussed earlier, is the most appropriate range given the current condition of this company.”Palm Coast Enterprise might have a valuation of two billion dollars, which made two hundred million reasonable for ten percent of its shares. However, the stock price had dropped sharply over the past few months. If that decline wasn’t handled carefully, the value of ten

“Hey, man, what makes you think you can come to a place like this?”Martin had just stepped out of the taxi when a doorman blocked his path, his expression hostile.Dressed only in a plain white T-shirt and worn navy jeans, Martin looked far more like a drifter compared to the doorman, who wore a uniform far too luxurious for someone in his position.“I’m not sure that’s something I need to explain to you,” Martin replied calmly. “My business is with the people inside.”Before him stood a circular building painted in light blue, adorned with ocean-themed ornaments. Known as the Sea House, it was where Palm Coast Enterprise held its most important executive meetings.Martin had obtained this information from Gianna. Since he wanted something significant from them, coming directly here was the most effective option. However, due to its elite nature, no one was allowed inside unless they had legitimate business.Martin continued walking forward.“Listen, I don’t like jokes—especially fro

Thirty minutes later, at Havenport South Station.“Please, sir.”Alfred opened the rear door of the black Bentayga for Martin.“No. I’ll take a taxi.”Instead, Martin headed in the opposite direction.“But, sir—”Alfred looked stunned. After all, Martin was about to meet the executives of Palm Coast Enterprise for an important business discussion.Arriving by taxi would only make them doubt him.If you arrived in a proper vehicle, at the very least, they would be willing to listen.Whatever you said afterward wouldn’t matter as much. But if you arrived in a way that failed to inspire confidence, they might not even bother listening to the first word that left your mouth—no matter how important it was.It was a small detail, but one with enormous impact.“Relax.”Martin smiled and waved his hand lightly. He understood the concierge’s concern.“I’ll get what I want.”***Meanwhile, at a hotel inside Palm Coast Resort.“You useless brat! “Sir, from all the potential candidates we’ve reviewed, I can say with considerable confidence that this is the most suitable one.”Alfred pointed at a name on the list.Palm Coast Enterprise.A company overseeing several luxury resorts and upscale residences in Havenport.“With a valuation reaching two billion,” he continued, “this will be an excellent company for you.”Generally, businesses started small or medium-sized.But that didn’t apply to Martin—he already had vast experience and an extremely strong financial base.He needed a company large enough to accelerate growth, yet not so large that decision-making became inflexible due to board approvals.Alfred was certain the name he had chosen fit Martin’s ambitions perfectly.“Yes, this looks good.”Martin seemed satisfied as his eyes scanned through the company’s profile line by line.“In that case, can you arrange a meeting with them?” he asked.Hearing that, Alfred nodded confidently, sharing the same sense of satisfaction.“O

“If they’ve already figured out who I am, then they should also know about the Hayes family, shouldn’t they?”Inside the private express staff room, Martin murmured under his breath as he looked out the window. His thoughts drifted to Hunt3rs.That group of assassins might only be targeting him.But they could easily use Quinn—or anyone from the Hayes family—as bait to lure him in.“So the divorce really can’t happen?” he muttered again, deep in thought.Originally, Martin didn’t intend to ask anything of Quinn. If she wanted to side with her family and go through with the divorce, he wouldn’t force her to stay. But now everything was different.Everything seemed to hinge on his decision. If he allowed the divorce to happen, Quinn’s life might be in danger.“They’d definitely use Quinn to get close to me.”Wife or ex-wife didn’t matter. “Aren’t they supposed to head to the platform already?”Martin directed his gaze toward a group of workers standing silently on the floor. Their faces couldn’t hide their uncertainty. In truth, they really were supposed to board the morning train—yet they were forced to wait for the afternoon one instead. They had booked their tickets well in advance. But because they had purchased the cheaper fare, there was nothing they could do when the clerk and the security guard blocked them.“What exactly are they waiting for?”“Sir…”Jackson quickly turned around, confusion spread across his face.He didn’t understand why the young man was asking something like that.“As for the passengers in this station, you don't need to worry.”He answered with a wide, confident smile. He believed Martin was someone who cared about others, and he was proud to say the station provided excellent service—just as Martin probably expected.“They will all receive the best service from our staff.”He nodded firml
