At Andrade Clinic, Linda composed herself and returned to her position at the reception desk.

“Thank you, Helena. I’ll take over now. You haven’t had lunch yet, have you?” she said.

Helena nodded, her stomach growling as she stepped away.

Walter returned from the ICU and approached the desk. “Darling, you don’t have to push yourself so hard.”

Linda straightened. “I think the shock has passed, Walt. I need to keep busy before I go crazy.”

“Don’t worry. Your father is already in surgery.”

Linda’s face tensed. “Is it serious?”

“He might end up with a broken leg.”

Linda rolled her eyes. “It’s official: the dinner is off.”

Jacqueline walked up to them. “How are things going?”

Walter sighed. “Dr. Almeida mentioned that Ernesto might have a fractured leg.”

“Oh, so that’s why Linda just canceled the dinner,” Jacqueline said.

Linda nodded. “We’ll return the PIX you sent, Jacque.”
