Chapter 11 : Knowledge Dive

No one said a word as they watched Alec look warily at Brandon who just nudged Bruce to wake up as well,

"What's up guys? Sorry we skipped class" Brandon said rubbing his eyes,

"Alec, what's wrong? You are scaring us" Isabella said worried,

"Yeah man, say something" Angelo added,

"I don't really know, I just felt this odd feeling just now" Alec finally said,

"What odd feeling? What happened?" Brandon asked confused looking to Bruce who was just as Clueless as him,

"Like sudden rise in body temperature" Alec explained,

"Maybe you are just tired" Natalie said,

"Can someone please explain to us what's going on" Bruce shouted,

"Oh, nothing, now get on your feet, we need to get going" Natalie replied,

"Going? To where?" Bruce asked slightly confused,

" We are going to the supply store, remember?" Natalie replied,

"Oh of course, don't mind me" Bruce said,

"I never got a list from Brandon" he added,

"No worries, just buy what you feel I might need, I will transfer some credits to your smart watch" Brandon replied,

"I guess we should be heading to the library then" Angelo said motioning Brandon to the door,

"Right, Bruce, see you later" Brandon said before leaving for the library with Angelo,

"Alright, on your feet Bruce, come on Izzy" Natalie said before pulling Bruce and Isabella out if the gym leaving Alec and Maya to their training,

"So what exactly do you want to work on?" Alec asked,

"Hmm, I was thinking on working on my reflex, sometimes I attack while leaving myself open" Maya replied,

"Sure, we can work on that, but you need to be agile, how about we practice some kicks and punches?" Alec suggested,

"Sure thanks" Maya replied,

She charged at Alec, making sure to aim her attacks at non- vital places not that any of them actually hit their target, Alec effectively blocked all her attacks,

"You are good, better than most in the class, but you don't have a back up, when you attack, you expect it to hit so you are unprepared for the enemies attack and this makes your consecutive attacks slower, mind if I show you some techniques" Alec explained,

"Sure, thanks for training with me by the way" Maya said,

"You are welcome" Alec replied, he caught glimpse of a person peeping from the door but was unable to see the face as the person ran off the moment he look towards the door.

Meanwhile, Angelo and Brandon were strolling to the library with an awkward silence between them,

"So, you alright?" Angelo asked breaking the silence,

"Yeah, just feeling a bit light headed" Alec replied,

"Did something happen at elemental class?" Angelo asked,

"It's nothing I can't handle" Alec replied,

"You are strong but, there's no shame in having a moment of weakness, it's important to remember that" Angelo said causing Brandon to pause,

"My ability grants me some telepathic abilities, I can feel your fear, your sorrow, you don't need to tell me how or why but, you can't keep walking around with it, talk to Bruce if it helps" Angelo continued still walking ahead,

"Do you believe all foreign races are bad?" Brandon asked, Angelo stopped and turned around,

"I fight to defend not to attack, I don't believe all are bad, all intelligent creatures have their good and bad sides, that's my logic" Angelo replied before moving on,

Brandon felt a little bit better after hearing Angelo's reply, he took a deep breath to calm himself before catching up with Angelo who now had a smile on his face,

They pushed open the Library doors and couldn't help but gasp in awe at the grand structure of the library, behind the plain doors was a room almost as big as their elemental class, with shelves filled with books all around and little floating helper robots levitating around, the walls and pillars were painted with with the image of a serene landscape and the roof had a picture of numerous creatures and humans reaching for a book,

"What do you think those are?" Brandon asked looking up,

"I think that's a banshee, a vampire, a demon.." Angelo listed pointing at specific creatures before saying a name,

"You seem to know a lot about these things" Brandon pointed out,

"Yeah, I took a hobby of studying mythical creatures especially since some of them actually exist" Angelo replied,

"You mean the foreign races?" Brandon asked,

"Yeah, though not all I have read about have been seen but from what I managed to skim off some people's mind, new ones have been spotted on some planets" Angelo explained,

"But I thought, soldiers weren't allowed to tell the younger generation about these things?" Brandon asked,

"Yeah, you seemed to have missed the part where I said I skimmed it off some minds" Angelo chuckled,

"Ooh, I see, quite handy, so you could access your ability before the awakening?" Brandon asked,

"Yeah, my family said I must be a prodigy of our first ancestor or something but, enough about that stuff, we need to get to work before it gets late" Angelo replied,

They found a table to sit at and used the helper bots to get the books they thought would be of use but even after two hours of reading, they didn't find anything about Brandon's affinity, which Brandon actually expected, the books were about human affinities and he wasn't human,

"Let's just call it a day, doesn't seem like anything here would be of use" Brandon said,

"You know, we could try sneaking into sir Brian's quarters when he isn't home" Angelo suggested,

"Woah, no way, it's too risky" Brandon replied,

"Okay, of you say so, we should probably head back it's getting late" Angelo said,

They returned their books, bade each other farewell,then departed to their respective dorms.

--------------------------Meanwhile--------------------------

"Hey, do you have any pyro mage techniques?" Natalie asked the storekeeper,

"Yes, we have variety of fire mage skills in both analogue and digital formats" the keeper promptly replied,

"What do you need fire skills for?" Isabella asked confused,

"They are not for me silly they are for his friend, you are going to give it to him" Natalie replied,

"What? Why?" Isabella asked confused,

"It's obvious if you want to win him over , you are going to have to start with his friend" Natalie explained,

Isabella couldn't help but groan, ever since she told Natalie, she might have a thing for Bruce, Natalie had been plotting non stop for ways to get them to talk,

"If I do this, will you tone down the plotting at least?" Isabella asked,

"Can't make any promises" Natalie chuckled,

" Here is the list of the best fire skills available at the moment" The store keeper said interrupting the chatter,

"Hmm, flame cyclone alpha,beta and gamma, flaming kick, phoenix armour, landsweep and flaming wings, these are the ones I want to purchase and I would like them in digital formats please" Natalie said,

"Alright, that would be a total of 10,500 credits" the store keeper announced as he placed seven mini USB drives in a small brown envelope and handed it to the girls,

Natalie tapped her smart watch a few times until a beep sound was head behind the counter,

"Done" She said before picking the dirves and handing them to Isabella,

"By the way, do you have anything for techno mages?" Isabella asked,

"Not at the moment, we expecting a new supply of skills after the next expedition and we have been told they will have something for all the students" the keeper explained,

Just as they were about to ask more questions, Bruce walked to the counter with bags filled with snacks, toiletries, books and an article on Alphite industries,

"Wow, you really went all out" Natalie teased,

"Oh, I got something for you guys too" Bruce replied as he handed them a bag of snacks,

"Thanks, that's thoughtful of you, right Izzy?" Natalie said nudging Isabella,

"Yeah, we really appreciate it" Isabella said faintly,

"No need for thanks, friends take care of each other right?" Bruce replied,

"Speaking of taking care of each other, we got something for your friend Brandon, we wanted to get something for you but they didn't have anything for techno mages" Natalie said,

Isabella took out a small brown envelope and stretched it towards him,

"Don't open yet, it's a surprise" She said,

"Wow, thanks Isabella" Bruce said with a bright smile that caught Isabella off guard as her face flushed red causing her to look away before he could notice,

"Oh my, did something get in your eye?" Bruce asked,

"Oh it's nothing she just isn't used to having friends that's all" Natalie replied with a slight Chuckle,

"Oh I see, at least now you have Natalie just like I have Brandon" Bruce said,

"Thanks, we should probably get going, Maya and Alec will probably still be at the gym, the cafeteria's probably closed, we should grabb them some water" Isabella replied,

They got the water and left for the gym, along the way Natalie kept on telling Bruce how awesome Isabella was to the point, Isabella was too embarrassed to look at Bruce until he said,

"She sounds genuinely cool, she will make a great warrior one day, I believe in her"

Isabella almost shed a tear, other than Natalie and her brother, on one had ever said they believed in her since the incident even her parents now looked at her in a different light,

"Wow, keep smothering her with those kind of words and she might just become a tomato" Natalie teased,

They kept on chatting till they arrived at the gym to see Maya and Alec panting heavily on the ground,

"Wow, they must have really went all out" Bruce whispered,

"Not really, Alec isn't as tired as Maya, he's just panting like to make her think he went all out on her" Isabella replied referring to Maya,

"Alright sweat bags get up, Bruce hand me a bottle of water, we will take her to the dorms, you take Alec" Natalie said,

They offered Maya some water drink and carried her away,

"You can get up now, they are gone" Bruce said,

Alec's panting immediate siezed, he stood up and smiled,

"I see you and the girls are getting along" Alec chuckled,

"Yeah, they are nice" Bruce replied,

"Just nice?" Alec asked with arched brows,

"Yeah, what else would they be? Come let's get going" Bruce said,

They got to their dorm room and found Brandon sitting on his bed with his legs crossed,

"Let's not disturb him, he shouldn't be long before he finishes whatever he's doing" Alec said,

But Bruce had already walked past him and arranged the things he bought he placed a bowl of chips and the brown envelope in front of Brandon and then sat beside him and began meditating,

"Talk about psychic brothers, I should probably take a shower first before I join whatever it is this is" Alec muttered,

"You do know we are meditating right, it helps recover spiritual energy and make it more potent and easy to use" Bruce quietly explained,

"Oh, in that case, I will be right back, I just need to take a shower " Alec said before disappearing into the the bathroom,

He came out a few minutes later looking refreshed and relaxed,

"Now time to join the meditation squad" he said as he sat in his own bed and closed his eyes.

While, all three boys were meditating a hooded figure could be seen lurking around the dorms, peeping through every window as if looking for someone, it moved quickly and stealthy until it arrived at the window to Brandon's door,

Long sharp claws emerged from the sleeves of the hooded figure, it made a quiet erree sound that created something like a sound barrier but as it was a out to slash the windows open, something or someone pulled it down causing it to crash to the ground,

The figure hurriedly got up to make it's escape but as it turned it was met with glowing green eyes,

"Druid? We wiped out your race" the figure finally spoke,

"Oh but you thought you did" the other replied but before it could attack, the hooded figure suddenly vanished,

"To think they would actually be that desperate" The glowing eyes figure muttered looking towards the window it dragged the hooded one from, the sound barrier seemed to still be intact,

"I have to make sure they are both safe" it said as it went into the dorms.
