"No matter how many times you call for him, he won't be coming honey." Teresa appeared beside Morris, frowning slightly, as she remembered none being at home in their absence, apart from Christian all alone locked in the attic, still she spoke in an indifferent tone,

"Why?" Morris questioned in a frustrated tone, to which Teresa shrugged, as if it were no more than a passing inconvenience, "our butler left days ago to look after his sick mother, when he is not even here, how can he answer you?"

Morris was stunned for a moment hearing to Teresa, a flicker of guilt appeared in his face as he almost became speechless, "So, Chris has been here for three days without food or water?"

"Maybe, I don't know either," Teresa replied awkwardly, not wanting to be blamed, "he did something wrong and he was punished, I can't be punished for his mistakes, right?"

Morris couldn't help but to question her, "even so, he was left with no food and water for almost three days, why didn't you remind me?"

"So, are you blaming me now for this idiot?" Teresa fumed with anger pointing at Christian, "don't forget, he is the reason why our Ivan is injured, even at that moment, there's no regret in him, rather he acted stubborn and you punished him, so in the end are you blaming me, just because I'm his stepmother?"

Teresa faked her tears, not wanting Morris to feel sympathized with Christian's condition, Morris immediately held her hand, "I'm not blaming you my love, of course it is his fault for hurting our precious son."

Christian despite being in a weak state, hearing all their words faintly made his heart clench with a bitter pain. He knew he hadn't done anything wrong to be punished like this, but he is getting punished simply for existing, for daring to stand in the way of their perfect family.

Morris took a step closer, once again checked Christian's weak form with a worried look, and a slight regret started building in him, "looks like, he is really in a serious condition just as Ivan described,"

But his expression hardened again just as quickly, as though he couldn’t bear to feel any compassion.

"If he had admitted he was wrong, I could've forgiven him, but he is stubborn like a bull and ended up in this situation, letting us to blame ourselves,"

He muttered, almost as if he were trying to convince himself that everything is the fault of Christian, "how can I blame myself for his stupidity?"

Morris kicked Christian's body, there's no reaction from Christian, so he decided to check on Christian once again, but at the time his phone rang.

He saw the name of the caller and asked quickly, "Have you contacted the Sargent family? I really need their help..."

As he said that, he walked quickly towards the warm room, completely forgetting to check on Christian's condition.

Teresa and Ivan looked at each other and smiled evilly.

"It’s freezing out here. Let’s go inside,” Ivan said, gesturing to Teresa, they retreated to the warm living room, leaving Christian alone in the storm dying.

Outside, the snow continued to fall, piling higher around Christian's body. He swayed, his strength was totally gone. His vision blurred, but he heard a voice in his subconscious mind.

"you'll be fine Chris, I'll protect you."

Christian felt inwardly, "is it real? Or is it just my mind slipping away with imaginations?"

Suddenly, the roar of engines shattered the silence of the storm. One after another, shining and luxurious black cars pulled into the driveway, their headlights cutting through the storm. The Sargent family had arrived at Adam's estate.

The doors of the first car opened, and Betty Sargent the eldest daughter stepped out, her long coat billowing around her as she strode toward the house.

Her expression was calm, but there was an urgency in her every step, kicking the gate, she got in, she remembered, Christian telling about being in the backyard, so wasting no time, Betty went into the backyard.

As she approached, her sharp eyes caught sight of a figure half-buried in the snow.

Her heart clenched at the miserable sight in front of her. "Oh my God!" she gasped heavily, rushing forward. "There’s someone here!"

The guards of the Sargent family hurried after her, along with Liliana Sargent and Lord Sargent, their elegant appearances contrasting sharply with the storm’s fury.

Betty fell to her knees beside Christian, brushing the snow from his face. Her breath was struck as she looked at his features.

"This boy," she whispered, but then her eyes widened in shock. "He... he looks just like our Marie."

Her voice broke the silence, and the others gathered around. Gasps and murmurs filled the air as they saw him.

Lord Sargent, the patriarch of the family, pushed through everyone. When his eyes landed on Christian, his expression crumbled.

"He looks just like my precious daughter," Lord Sargent choked out, tears streaming down his face, "he must be my grandson Chris."

Betty’s eyes caught the glint of the amulet in Christian’s hand. She carefully taken it from his frozen fingers, her own trembling as she held it up. "Father, this amulet... It belongs to Mary, he is your grandson for sure."

"Oh my goodness! We finally met our nephew, he must be our Mary's son!" Liliana, the second eldest daughter of Lord Sargent burst into tears.

Gasps filled through everyone as they recognized it. The grief they had carried for years finally got a relief but mingled with fury.

"How could this happen?!" Betty demanded with a shaking voice out of concern and anger. "Who left him out here like this?"

Lord Sargent straightened using a voice as hard as steel. "Let's take him to the hospital, right now."

Morris was worrying about how to get in touch with the Sargent family, but the guard suddenly walked in.

"Master, there are a group of people outside, they claim to be from the Sargent family..."

"What!" Morris was overjoyed. Could it be that the friend he asked for had helped him contact the Sargent family?

But they shouldn't come so quickly!

Morris didn't have time to think about it. He quickly put on his suit and tidied his hair, ready to leave a good impression on the Sargent family.

"Where are they?" He asked the guard while getting dressed.

"The backyard... They came in from the back door..."

The guard said hesitantly.

"What!" Morris was shocked.

His rubbish son was still kneeling in the backyard!

If Christian were to offend the Sargent family because of him, the Adams family's business would not only be unable to be saved, but would go bankrupt completely!

"This animal! Drag him out of there immediately , and don't let him offend the Sargent family!" Morris ran to the backyard while getting dressed.

Georgia’s expression changed slightly, as if pain, sympathy, something heavier, all together came at a time."There were five," she said softly.Christian’s gaze shifted toward her immediately remembering the term he heard in between all these illusions. "What's with that expression of yours?" Christian asked quietly through the lower sanctum tunnel as he walked beside Georgia beneath endless layers of blackened steel corridors and fractured ritual walls. The glowing map extracted from the relic still hovering faintly before them while the deeper pathways toward the hidden laboratory stretched endlessly beneath the Dark Mountains like veins leading toward the heart of something rotten.Georgia shook her head calmly though unease filled expression is still there on her face, "nothing!""You’re hiding something from me again."Christian raised an eyebrow as his suspicion towards her didn't gone yet.Georgia’s steps slowed almost imperceptibly, not enough for someone ordinary to notice, but Christian noticed. He always did, especially now.... "The deepest laboratory…."Ezra’s voice lowered sharply after looking at what was projected before him, the usual carelessness that constantly lingered around him disappearing almost instantly as his calm eyes remained fixed on the glowing map suspended above the ruined sanctum floor, while beside him, even Georgia’s breathing seemed to still for a brief moment under the unbearable weight of what they were witnessing.Mary’s projection continued."The Veilborn could not fully destroy the relic because its existence became bound to the gate itself. • YOU'RE A TERRIBLE LIAR

"You’re unusually quiet all of a sudden... Is everything okay?" Georgia’s voice echoed softly through the dim inner sanctum corridor as she walked beside Christian beneath huge black-silver walls engraved with ancient Veilborn inscriptions, their surfaces pulsing faintly with dormant crimson energy while the deeper chambers ahead radiated increasingly violent relic resonance.Christian did not answer immediately. His sharp gaze remained fixed ahead, calm yet noticeably heavier than before, while Mary’s blade rested loosely in his hand and the completed five-fragment key beneath his coat pulsed steadily against his chest like a second heartbeat. The deeper they moved into the sanctuary, the stronger it became. The relic, and its presence no longer felt distant... • DON'T SOUND DISSAPOINTED

"Before you even think about stepping through that gate without a plan," Ezra said with a tone that tried to remain casual but carried an unmistakable sharpness beneath it as he hovered just slightly ahead of Christian and Georgia, his gaze fixed on the ancient layered inscriptions covering the inner threshold, "I would like to remind you that this is no longer a place where instinct alone will keep you both alive." Christian stood a step away from the gate, his posture steady, his expression composed, yet his eyes carried a deeper awareness now, something sharpened by everything they had already endured since entering the sanctum."I’m not relying on instinct... I've never done that," he replied calmly. "I’m relying on understanding what it wants."Georgia, who had been studying the inscriptions closely, let out a slow breath as her fingers hovered just inches above the ancient script without touching it, her brows furrowed in concentration."And what exactly do you think it wants?"
