"I don't think it's time to think about all these," Christian mumbled as he doesn't want to waste time on unnecessary things.

The moment Aurora Kaelthorne left the building, he didn’t follow the praise, the congratulations, or Andrew’s dramatic commentary.

Getting up, he walked out of the room to get himself a coffee before he come up with a plan of what to do next, after having a warm cup of coffee, his mind started functioning in a better way.

"I don't think I can stay low profile anymore," Christian sighed inwardly, "sooner or later, everything will be revealed, though Oliver is no longer there to compete, still I don't think it's simple yet for me to claim everything that belongs to me, I should be prepared for everything!"

Once he was done with coffee and thinking about his future plans, Christian went straight to the executive conference room and sent a single message to the internal group channel.

"Emergency strategy meet, within ten minutes, I want all of you to be present!

  • I'M RICHER THAN THE SARGENT FAMILY

"What exactly are you trying to do?" Christian let out a slow sigh, running a hand through his hair as he looked at Aurora since he couldn't understand what exactly was going on in the mind of Aurora despite him trying his best to explain everything to make her realise she should give up on him but she is too stubborn to listen to him.She calmly got seated, her ankle resting on the chair, posture relaxed like she hadn’t just shattered his composure a few minutes ago. Her eyes were sharp, calculating, and oddly amused.Aurora lifted her chin slightly with a calm face staring into his eyes straight just like how her words are straightforward."Chris," she said calmly, "you might be a part of Sargent's family and heir of Sargent's family, but don’t forget something important." She stood up smoothly, ignoring the faint protest from her ankle. "I’m the heiress of the Kaelthorne family." Christian blinked once while hearing to her carefully."My family," she continued coolly with a prou

  • WHY NOT?

"I didn’t do anything," Christian said quietly.Aurora froze for a second, but her hand was still pressed against his chest, while fingers were trembling, eyes red and wet with unshed tears."I didn’t act that way to make anyone fall in love with me, especially you," he continued in a steady voice, neither being defensive, nor cold. "And I never had the intention of making anyone fall for me either." Aurora laughed bitterly at his statement. "Then why be like this? Why do you behave like this as if you're a gentleman?" Christian inhaled slowly, giving her time, and also giving himself time."I grew up watching my mother get mistreated," he said softly holding back himself not to break down as all the memories from the past surrounded him all at once. "I watched her get disrespected, silenced, broken… every single day, there's no single day passed in my life without seeing her tears, though it hurts that's how her life has been a hell with a man who didn't even give her the basic res

  • IS THAT IMPORTANT?

"I need to take care of something at the company, Rose," Christian said quietly. "I already promised Andrew that I'll be going to the company in the morning unfortunately I couldn't, at least now I should go." Rosaline sighed at his response, "Is it that important?" "Yes," Christian nodded his head with a determined face, "Of course it is important Rose, they must be panicking because of everything that's happening in the company right now, I need to be there with them, they stood by my side all the time, now whatever happening it's all because of me, shouldn't I be there to assure them everything will be okay? Isn't it my duty to take care of them?"Rosaline stared at him, arms crossed, eyes searching his face as if trying to read the thoughts he wasn’t saying aloud. She knew it's all because of Aurora, that woman targeted Christian and became the cause of all the mess, still, Christian isn't blaming her or talking ill about her, that single thing proved to Rosaline that Christian

  • YOU SCARED ME

"I still can't believe..." Christian didn’t remember the drive back. "I left that mansion!" He only remembered the moment the gates of Nevermore Mansion closed behind him, and how his chest felt strangely hollow the entire way, as if he had left something important behind without even knowing what it was.The car barely stopped in front of Rosaline’s guest house before the door got opened."Chris!"Rosaline ran straight toward him, not even caring that he hadn’t fully stepped out yet because she has been waiting for him all the night without even sleeping as she is worried about him from the moment Mrs. Nevermore has informed them about Christian staying at their mansion overnight.Immediately she wrapped her arms around him tightly, burying her face against his shoulder as if afraid he might disappear again, the thought of him disappearing made her heart clench in unexplainable pain and she was not ready to be separated from him even for a second."You scared me," she muttered. "Do

  • HE TRUSTS ME TOO EASILY

"What do you mean by a paternity test?" Adrian repeated softly, his voice steady in a way that did not match the tension coiled inside him.Lysandre nodded once with a gentle smile. "First of all, I apologise for doing such a thing without your permission my Lord, actually I've taken the samples discreetly. The lab used blood residue from last night, your wound, and… a sample retrieved from the bracelet fragments, I've given them to the lab by myself." Adrian didn’t check the report immediately, he didn’t need to, because his heart already gave an answer to him last night.Still, his fingers moved on their own, slow and deliberate, as he pulled the paper free. The words were clinical, cold, and unemotional.Probability of biological paternity: 99.99%.For a long moment, nothing happened, no storm answering the truth, not even wind came to disturb the silence that surrounded him.Adrian simply closed his eyes, not in shock, but in relief.Behind him, Mrs. Nevermore took a slow step fo
