"Let's see," The arrogantly said, "I'll wait for you to crumble with loss..."

Christian smiled with an unreadable face, "It's okay for you to think of winning but wanting to see others losing is your path to lose."

With that before the expert could even talk, Christian turned around to an attendant, "Can you please bring the stones I chosen to second floor?"

"For sure, sir," The attendant nodded his head politely.

The heavy velvet curtains were drawn back, revealing a grand staircase that led the invited guests to the second floor of the auction house.

Soft candlelight flickered from bronze chandeliers above, casting warm glows on the polished marble floors. "Wahh, I've seen golden and silver chandeliers, bronze is so beautiful and looking elegant..."

"Do you like it that much?" Ezra whispered, Christian nodded his head excitedly.

In front of the guests gathered, a steward bowed low at the landing.

"This way, ladies and gentlemen, the second tier awaits for the gemstone unveiling."

  • YOU'VE DONE ENOUGH FOR TONIGHT

“Excuse me, Mr. Chris!” One of the waiters asked him to move aside as he stood in the middle of the way, with a soft nod, Christian moved aside. The night was too perfect, too calm, and that alone made Christian uneasy. The laughter, the gentle exchange of looks, the orchestra’s slow melody… everything flowed like a well-rehearsed dream. But beneath the perfection, he couldn’t shake some strange weight sitting on his chest. The faint warmth of the amulet still lingered against his palm, and his eyes occasionally darted across the grand hall, looking for that unfamiliar man he’d seen earlier. He scanned the crowd again and again.Guests mingled and laughed, champagne sparkled under chandeliers, while Oliver was still putting on his best future CEO smile, but the man in the black suit, the one with the silver wind-shaped brooch had vanished completely.Christian adjusted his tie and exhaled softly. “Don’t overthink, Chris,” he muttered under his breath. “It’s just another guest, probab

  • YOU SOUND DISAPPOINTED

“I just hope,” Christian thought inwardly with a sigh, “no troubles come to me tonight! I want peace… Just peace!” The grand hall is shining brighter as the night reached its peak because of the lighting arrangements they made, laughter and the curious conversations mixing with the clinking of crystal glasses, the soft hum of music filling through the air. Waiters passed gracefully between tables to serve the guests, their trays balanced carefully without any mistakes.Despite everything being the same, still Christian couldn't help but to check them once again, as he doesn't want others to find mistakes in his work.He stood near the staircase, being calm and observant as always, his hands tucked neatly in his pockets as he scanned the crowd. Everything from the floral arrangements to the lighting was exactly as he envisioned, he could see the pleased looks on everyone's face, even the usually difficult board members seemed satisfied. From the main table, Edward was surrounded by

  • TRY ME

“Ahhh!” Andrew's heart nearly jumped out of his body. His phone almost slipped from his hand after looking at Edward who is getting closer to him, he almost decided it'll be last day to him on this earth.Christian quickly smiled, trying to calm the situation. “It’s nothing, Uncle… I mean, Mr. Edward, just a little… misunderstanding.”Edward raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips twitching with amusement. “Misunderstanding? Because I could swear I just heard this young man here threatening revenge, all I want to know is on whom he wanted to take revenge, who is it?” Andrew’s throat went dry and his legs trembling can be seen by anyone. “R… Revenge? No, sir! Not me! I was just talking about, uh, my dog… yes, my dog, someone kicked it yesterday and I said I’d take revenge, haha…” “Dog? Did he just call me a dog?” Christian thought inwardly about the comparison Andrew made, but coughed into his fist to hide a laugh after seeing Andrew's posture. “Of course not on you, sir,” he said

  • WHOM?

“What about east wing arrangements?” Christian looked at one of the staff, and the man immediately gave an assuring smile, “I've cross-checked again and again sir, everything is perfect…”Christian hummed quietly checking around, “Well, the drinks… Did you make sure non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are placed separately for the guests to choose comfortably without any confusion?” “Yes sir,” the man nodded softly, “I even arranged two people to look after that area.” “You can go now,” Christian said gently, “but make sure none of the guests should be leaving unsatisfied or troubled, be careful and alert all the time.”The man left immediately with a smile, as he had never seen someone as young as Christian to be this attentive and responsible unlike some adults who doesn't even care to check for once after handovering the work to other staff. The grand ballroom shimmered under a cascade of golden light. Chandeliers hung like captured stars, the scent of various flowers and polishe

  • DON'T YOU THINK SO?

"You got it already?" Ezra’s voice cracked through the silence like a startled bird. "Di... Did you really get it from her?" Christian blinked at him, holding the amulet in his hand which he got from Aurora. The moonlight touching its surface, reflecting a faint blue shimmer that almost felt alive."Yes," Christian said simply, only to get questioned by Ezra, "by any chance did you steal it from her?" Christian crossing his arms sighed looking at Ezra, "why would I even do that? Am I appearing like a thief to you?""You're desperate for that amulet," Ezra smirked, "so, stealing it from her won't be impossible for you.... If not, did you threaten her? They're the only possibilities I can see at this moment!" Rolling his eyes, Christian had said, "my dear Ezra, neither I stolen, nor I threatened her, just I requested for that amulet, and she gave it, that's how it happened." "That’s it?" Ezra raised an eyebrow, floating a little closer, the edges of his figure blurring into the nig

  • I'LL BE WAITING THEN

"This man is mysterious for sure!" Christian sighed looking in the direction in which Adrian has left. The sound of Adrian’s footsteps had barely faded when Aurora slipped back into the cafeteria, her phone pressed to her ear and a mild annoyance drawn across her delicate features. Christian sat where he was, fingers lightly brushing the rim of his coffee cup, lost in thoughts that tangled deeper than he’d admit."Sorry," Aurora smiled, ending the call and slipping her phone into her bag. "Work never leaves me alone, they behave as if they can't breathe for five minutes without me." Christian smiled back faintly. "Seems like you’re more popular than I think...." "I wish it was just popularity for me to enjoy," she muttered, sitting opposite him again. "It’s more like torture disguised as responsibility, sometimes I feel like running away from all these just to have a peaceful life but it's hard because once habituated to luxury, we can't escape from that luxury trap!" He chuckled
