Ethan and Axel were shown the way out of the building through another door so they didn't have to meet any guests on their way out.

Axel let out a sigh as the cool night breeze collided with her skin.

"I had such a swell time tonight." She smiled at Ethan but before he could respond to her, her phone buzzed loudly in her purse and she fumbled with her purse for a few seconds before bringing her phone out.

"Hello,”

"Oh okay, shoot. Uhmm... I will be there in ten minutes." Her tone shifted as she answered to the person at the other end of the call

"Sounds like you have to be somewhere else this minute." Ethan concluded from the words she said on the call and Axel pouted with a sad frown. 

"Yeah, emergency meeting." She replied.

"Thank you for tonight. If you hadn't told me about the auction, I might not have gotten the unique ring." Ethan said with appreciation. 

"It was my pleasure." Axel smiled brightly. "I hope to see you around." 

"Certainly." Ethan replied as the most convenient thing he had to say. Within him, he still wasn't sure that he was as influential as the mysterious lady.

Axel turned to leave but paused in her tracks and turned back to Ethan. 

"That lady..." her voice trailed off.

"What lady?"

"That lady who was with that arrogant bastard..." she was referring to Amelia

"Is she your girlfriend?" Axel's face held a hint of jealousy that she fought to hide.

Ethan's eyes widened at her words. He had thought that it was obvious enough that he and Amelia were no longer together.

"She's my ex-wife." Ethan replied bluntly.

Was Axel bothered by Amelia? Was she jealous that Amelia would be related to Ethan in a romantic way? Ethan wondered within himself. 

"Oh.. sorry for your divorce." Axel tried to act modest but she failed to hide the smile of relief that crossed over her face at the information. 

"Nahh, I think I'm over it now." Ethan said with a shrug.

"Do you want to know why she left?" 

Axel was silent and he read that as a yes.

"She said I was not wealthy enough for her. That I couldn't match up to the class of people she was on the same level with. But her new lover was everything and more." Axel's mouth fell open but no words came out.

"Oh."

"Yeah. Somehow I'm glad that she left me when she did." Ethan spoke again. And Axel fought back the urge to ask when the divorce happened and how he managed to hide his immense help from his wife.

But she swallowed her questions as she didn't want to sound intruding. 

"Well, come to think of it, you are lucky you lost her when you did. She is no good." Axel said instead and Ethan nodded with a smile.

"Yeah."

"Alright, see you some other time." With that, Axel headed to where her car was parked.

Ethan was about to find his own way out of there when a black SUV stopped in front of him, startling him a bit.

He stopped as the door of the car opened and a lady in heels alighted from the car.

"Hello, Young master." The voice sounded familiar but the dim yellow street lights made it hard for him to clearly see her face so he squinted.

"You." He saw the lady who had given him the card and her complimentary card.

"My name is Ava in case you've forgotten young master." She said again with a bow this time around.

"Can we discuss inside the car?" She spoke again when Ethan remained stiff where he stood.

He didn't know if trouble had come for him. Ethan couldn't help but wonder if all this was just a big prank they were trying to pull? If it was a prank then he had just acquired more debts than he can pay in his lifetime. 

Ethan noticed the way Ava looked around consciously for careless eyes that might see them and he decided to follow her into the car. If things were going to get rough, it better get rough where less people would see him.

Ava opened the door for him. And he settled inside. The car was sleek. Its seat was made of premium leather and it massaged his body as he sank into the seat. The air conditioning was cool and it made him relax instantly.

The distinct scent of newness that filled the car, filled his nose. The scent of new leather, polished metal and a unique scent of car air freshener. It was clean, luxurious and oddly comforting. The kind of scent that screamed wealth. Never had he thought that he would sit in machines the elites of the elites rode.

Ethan looked to the driver seat and saw a man settled in, his focus was on the road and he didn't mind what was going on behind him. Then his eyes shifted to Ava who smiled reassuringly at him as she also settled beside him. It was as though she was happy she had finally gotten him to enter the car.

Ethan swallowed hard and fixed his eyes on the road as the driver zoomed off. 

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Logan and Amelia were summoned by Logan's family members who were disappointed with their son.

When they got there, they were shown videos of themselves being dragged out of the auction hall and they replayed the part where Orion screamed at Logan like a child.

Amelia bit her lips like she wanted to enter into the screen of the video and fight for her dignity. While Logan sighed and dragged a hand down his face.

"You are an embarrassment and I can't believe I will say this but I am ashamed to call you my son." Logan's father spoke, his voice was mixed with anger and contempt.

"Dad.." Logan tried to speak but he was shunned immediately.

"Don't give excuses for your mess. You claim to be a businessman but you don't know who you should and should not cross. Do you have any idea what this has cost us?" His dad asked and Logan's brows drew together. 

"We just lost a contract worth millions because of this rubbish!" His tone rose higher than usual as he clenched his hands in tight fists.

"What?" Logan blinked severally as he tried to comprehend what was going on.

Did he just hear right? Did his father just tell him that they lost a contract worth millions because of Ethan? That... loser? That... good for nothing low life?
