The Woman in the Dark
“Ethan!” The woman's voice echoed through Blackwood Station. Ethan stood frozen inside the underground room, still holding the photograph of Olivia and Daniel. Olivia's warning repeated in his head. She killed Daniel. But the woman upstairs was screaming his name. Was she in danger? Or was it a trap? Ethan slipped the photograph into his jacket and climbed the stairs. The underground room disappeared behind him as he reached the main hall. “Where are you?” he called. No answer. Only the sound of rain beating against the broken windows. Then he saw her. The woman in the black coat was standing near the old ticket counter. Blood covered her shoulder. She was holding a small pistol. “Don't come closer,” she said. Ethan stopped. “You're hurt.” “I know.” “Who shot you?” She looked toward the entrance. “They came for you.” “Who?” “The people who erased your memory.” Ethan's eyes narrowed. “You killed Daniel.” The woman's expression changed. “Who told you that?” “My sister.” “Olivia?” “Yes.” The woman slowly lowered her weapon. “Then your sister is lying to you.” Ethan stepped forward. “Why should I believe you?” “You shouldn't.” The answer surprised him. “You shouldn't believe anyone right now.” She pulled a small device from her pocket and threw it onto the floor. A recording began playing. Olivia's voice filled the station. “Ethan, if you're hearing this, I'm probably already gone. There's something you need to know. Seven years ago, Daniel wasn't murdered here. He escaped.” Ethan stared at the device. The woman watched him carefully. Olivia continued. “He discovered that someone inside the police department was selling information to a private organization. Daniel wanted to expose them. Ethan helped him.” Ethan felt another wave of pain. Images flashed through his mind. Daniel running through a tunnel. Ethan carrying a metal box. A woman screaming. A gunshot. Then darkness. Olivia's recording continued. “But someone betrayed them.” The recording stopped. Ethan looked at the woman. “Who?” She said nothing. “Who betrayed us?” “You did.” Ethan froze. “What?” “You betrayed Daniel.” “No.” “You don't remember.” “I would remember something like that.” “Would you?” The woman stepped closer. “That's the entire point, Ethan.” She pointed toward his head. “Someone didn't erase your memories because you were innocent.” Ethan's face tightened. “Then why?” “Because you knew exactly what you had done.” The station suddenly became silent. Ethan's breathing grew heavier. “What did I do?” The woman looked away. “You killed someone.” Ethan's eyes widened. “Daniel?” “No.” “Then who?” She didn't answer. A loud sound came from outside. Car doors slammed. The woman immediately grabbed Ethan. “We have to go.” “I'm not going anywhere until you tell me the truth.” “If you stay here, you'll never get the chance to learn it.” She pulled him toward a side corridor. Ethan followed reluctantly. They ran through a narrow passageway and reached an old maintenance door. Behind them, several men entered the station. “Search every room!” Ethan recognized one of the voices. Detective Marcus Hale. A police officer who had investigated Daniel's disappearance seven years ago. “Why is the police here?” Ethan whispered. The woman opened the maintenance door. “Because Marcus Hale isn't here to arrest you.” “What is he here for?” She looked at Ethan. “To make sure you don't remember.” They escaped through a narrow tunnel and emerged behind the station. The woman led Ethan toward an abandoned warehouse. Inside, she finally stopped. Ethan turned toward her. “Enough.” She looked exhausted. “Tell me who you are.” “My name is Rachel Morgan.” “Who were you to Daniel?” Rachel hesitated. “His wife.” Ethan stared at her. “Daniel was married?” “Yes.” “Then why did nobody know?” “Because Daniel never officially registered the marriage.” Ethan remembered something. A ring. Daniel wearing a silver ring. He had seen it in the old photograph. “Rachel,” Ethan said slowly, “why did Daniel fake his death?” “Because he was trying to disappear.” “From whom?” Rachel looked toward the warehouse window. “The organization.” “What organization?” “The name doesn't matter.” “It matters to me.” She finally faced him. “They call themselves The Meridian.” Ethan frowned. “What do they want?” “Control.” “That doesn't mean anything.” “They manipulate companies, elections, police investigations, financial markets. They don't need to control governments directly.” Rachel paused. “They control the people who make decisions.” Ethan thought about his termination. The fake evidence. The stolen money. The police investigation. Suddenly everything seemed connected. “Why frame me?” “Because you were the only person who could expose them.” “But I don't remember.” “Exactly.” Rachel took out another photograph. This one showed Ethan, Daniel, and Olivia standing inside the underground room. Ethan stared at it. “Olivia knew?” “She helped you.” “Why would she lie to me?” “Because she promised Daniel she would protect you.” Ethan's voice became softer. “From what?” Rachel looked directly at him. “From yourself.” Before Ethan could respond, headlights appeared outside. Rachel immediately switched off the lights. Several black vehicles surrounded the warehouse. Men stepped out. Marcus Hale emerged from the first car. He held a photograph in his hand. “Ethan Carter!” he shouted. Rachel whispered, “There's a back exit.” Ethan shook his head. “I need answers.” “You won't get them from Hale.” Hale's voice came again. “Ethan, Rachel has been lying to you.” Rachel grabbed Ethan's arm. “Don't listen.” Hale continued. “Daniel Reed wasn't Rachel's husband.” Rachel's face turned pale. Ethan looked at her. “What is he talking about?” “He's lying.” Hale shouted: “Ask her about the night Daniel died.” Ethan's head began hurting again. The warehouse blurred. Suddenly, he remembered. A room. Daniel bleeding. Rachel holding a gun. Olivia crying. And Ethan standing beside a table. Then Daniel looked directly at Ethan. His final words echoed through his mind. “You have to forget me.” Ethan dropped to his knees. Rachel crouched beside him. “What did you remember?” Ethan looked at her with horror. “You were there.” Rachel's eyes filled with tears. “Yes.” “You had the gun.” “Yes.” “You shot Daniel.” Rachel shook her head. “I didn't kill him.” “But you had the gun!” “I was trying to save him.” “From whom?” Rachel didn't answer. Ethan suddenly noticed something in her hand. A silver ring. Daniel's ring. “Where did you get that?” Rachel looked at it. “Daniel gave it to me.” “Before he died?” “No.” Ethan's blood ran cold. “After.” Rachel slowly whispered, “Because Daniel is still alive.” Silence. Ethan stared at her. “That’s impossible.” Rachel looked toward the warehouse entrance. “He's been alive for seven years.” A gunshot shattered the window. Rachel pushed Ethan to the floor. Bullets tore through the wall. They ran toward the back exit. But before Ethan could leave, he saw someone standing outside. A man in a dark coat. The same man from the photographs. Ethan stopped breathing. The stranger slowly removed his hood. Ethan knew that face. He had seen it in his dreams. He had seen it in the photograph. And now the man was standing only twenty feet away. Daniel Reed. Daniel looked directly at Ethan. Then he raised one hand. Not to attack. To warn him. Behind Ethan, Rachel whispered: “Don't let him speak.” Ethan turned toward her. “Why?” Rachel's face had gone completely white. “Because if Daniel tells you what happened seven years ago…” She swallowed. “…you'll remember who really killed him.” Ethan turned back. Daniel was gone. Only a small envelope remained on the wet ground. Ethan ran outside and picked it up. Inside was a photograph of Olivia. She was standing beside a hospital bed. On the bed was Ethan. Seven years earlier. And beside Ethan stood Daniel. Alive. On the back of the photograph were four words: “You woke up too soon.” Ethan looked toward the darkness where Daniel had disappeared. For seven years, he had believed he was trying to recover a lost memory. Now he understood the truth. Someone had not erased his past. Someone had been keeping him asleep. And whoever had done it was still watching. From somewhere inside the darkness, a phone began ringing. Ethan answered. A man's voice whispered: “Hello, Ethan.” Ethan recognized it immediately. Daniel Reed. “I need you to remember one thing.” “What?” Daniel's voice became barely audible. “You weren't the one who disappeared seven years ago. Olivia was.” The call ended. Ethan looked at Rachel. For the first time, she appeared genuinely terrified. Then Ethan's phone received a new message. A live photograph of Olivia appeared on the screen. She was sitting in a dark room. Behind her was a clock. The time was 1:00 a.m. And beneath the photograph were six words: “You have one hour to find her.”Latest Chapter
The Last Memory
The Last MemoryThe hospital speakers went silent. For several seconds, nobody moved. The last words Amelia had spoken remained suspended in the air like a threat that had not yet decided whether it wanted to become a promise.“The third world has begun.”Lily stared at the photograph on the wall.It had already burned away, leaving only a dark rectangular stain. But she could still see the woman's face in her mind.Amelia.Her mother.A woman Lily had mourned for most of her life.A woman who had supposedly died before Lily was old enough to understand what death meant.Yet Amelia had spoken to them. She was alive. And she had known they would come.Rachel slowly lowered her weapon.“Everyone stay calm.”Daniel looked at the tablet in his hands.“Calm isn't really an option anymore.”“What are you seeing?” Rachel asked.Daniel's fingers moved rapidly across the screen.“The network is still active.”“What network?”“The Mirror.”Lily turned toward him.“I thought it was destroyed.”“
The Man Behind the Memory
The Man Behind the MemoryThe hospital went dark. For several seconds, Lily could hear nothing except her own heartbeat. Then Ethan's voice came through the darkness.“Lily…”She turned toward him.“Dad?”No answer.A red emergency light flickered on.Ethan stood in the center of the corridor. His eyes were black. The Mirror symbol covered his hands, spreading slowly up his arms like dark veins.Around him, hundreds of patients stood motionless.Every face was turned toward Lily.Rachel raised her weapon.“Lily, get behind me.”Lily didn't move.“That isn't my father.”Ethan smiled. The smile wasn't his.“No,” he said.“I am what he tried to forget.”Helen Carter stood at the end of the corridor. Her expression was strangely calm.“Welcome to St. Mary's.”Lily stared at her.“You knew this would happen.”Helen nodded.“I've been waiting for this moment for twenty-nine years.”Rachel aimed her weapon at her.“What are you?”Helen looked at Ethan.“A mother.”Then she looked at Lily.“A

St. Mary'sThe message remained on the screen.ETHAN CARTER IS WAITING.Lily stared at it without blinking. For several seconds, nobody moved. Then Sarah whispered, “That isn't possible.”Daniel turned toward her.“Why?”Sarah looked at the coordinates.“Because St. Mary's wasn't just destroyed.”She swallowed.“It was erased.”Rachel frowned.“Buildings don't get erased.”“This one did.”Sarah pointed at the screen.“After the first Mirror event, every record connected to St. Mary's disappeared. Patient files. Staff records. Photographs. Government documents.”Daniel stared at the database.“That explains why I couldn't find a complete record.”Lily stepped closer.“But I was born there.”“Yes.”“And my father disappeared there.”Sarah nodded.“That's what everyone was told.”Lily looked at her.“What really happened?”Sarah didn't answer.Lily's voice hardened.“Mom.”Sarah closed her eyes.“Your father didn't disappear from St. Mary's.”“He was taken.”“By whom?”“By us.”The room
The Forgotten Son
The Forgotten SonThe lake exploded.A wall of water crashed toward the laboratory.Ethan grabbed Lily and pulled her backward.Rachel shouted:“MOVE!”Everyone ran toward the tunnel.Behind them, the enormous structure rose from the lake.It was neither machine nor living creature. It was something in between.Metal plates covered a body made of translucent tissue. Hundreds of cables extended from its back and disappeared beneath the water. At the center was a face.Ethan's face. But impossibly old.The eyes opened. And every screen in the laboratory displayed the same message:MEMORY ENTITY: ACTIVEDaniel stared at the readings.“What is that?”Ethan shook his head.“I don't know.”The entity spoke again.“You know me.”Ethan stopped.“No.”“You have forgotten me.”“Who are you?”The entity's face changed. For a moment, Ethan saw his own mother. Then his brother. Then Lily. Then himself. Finally, it became the face of a young boy.Ethan froze. His brother. As a child. The entity spo
The First World
The First WorldDarkness swallowed the laboratory. For several seconds, there was nothing. No voices. No machines. No footsteps.Only the sound of Ethan Carter breathing. Then a light appeared.A single white point in the darkness. It expanded slowly until Ethan found himself standing beside a lake. The same lake. But not the same world. The water was clear. The sky was blue. The old Carter house stood untouched among green trees. There was no Meridian tower. No Mirror Network. No resistance. No war.No ruins.Ethan turned around.Rachel was gone. His brother was gone.Richard was gone.Lily was gone.He was alone.Or so he thought.A child was standing near the water.Ethan recognized him immediately.Himself.Eight years old.Young Ethan was throwing stones into the lake.Another boy sat nearby. His brother. They were laughing.Ethan watched them silently. Then a woman's voice came from behind him.“You wanted to know who destroyed the first world.”Ethan turned.Eleanor Carter stoo
The Memory Beneath the Lake
The Memory Beneath the LakeThe lake moved. Not with the wind. Not with the current.Something beneath its black surface was breathing.Ethan Carter stood at the edge of the water, staring at the glowing symbol on his palm. The Mirror. It pulsed like a second heartbeat.Lily stood beside him.“What did Eleanor do to you?”Ethan looked at his hand.“I don't know.”Rachel approached cautiously.“Then we need to find out before she takes control.”Ethan looked toward the lake.“She already has.”A deep vibration passed through the ground.Daniel checked his equipment.“That's not possible.”“What?”“The lake has no underground machinery.”Another vibration.Stronger this time. The old house trembled.Ethan closed his eyes. And suddenly he saw it.A corridor beneath the water.A metal door.A child standing behind glass.A woman holding a newborn. Then a voice:Remember.Ethan opened his eyes.“There is a facility beneath the lake.”Daniel stared at him.“How do you know?”“I saw it.”Rac
