32. Golden Dragon Battle

Nash's first instinct when he saw the giant creature was to run. The problem was that his feet seemed glued to the floor, leaving him in the reach of the golden pupils of the giant reptile. It was a dragon - a gigantic golden dragon that had been awakened from its long slumber by their entry into its room. Nash could see from a distance that the gold had come from falling dragon scales, explaining why the room was filled with treasure.

"Shein, listen to me," Nash whispered urgently. "On the count of three, we have to run. Run as fast as you can and never look back, no matter what. Understand?"

Shein was so terrified that all her fur stood up like a small cat facing a predator. Nash raised his voice. "Shein, Shein!"

Shein woke from her fear and nodded repeatedly. "I-I understand."

"One, two, run!" Nash shouted.
