Damian lowered the phone slowly, staring at the screen with a deep frown written across his face.

Something felt terribly wrong. He couldn't help but wonder why Ethan sounded so confident and nonchalant about the divorce proceeding.

It sounded almost as if Ethan was grateful the divorce was happening and couldn't wait to get it over with.

"What is it?" a voice asked from behind him.

Damian turned to see Lois stepping out of the bathroom, wrapped in a soft white bathrobe.

Her red hair was still

  • The refinery auction

Later that night, the auction hall at the Meridian Convention Center was filled with the richest businessmen in the region. At the pre-auction reception, oil magnates, real estate tycoons, tech entrepreneurs, and old-money aristocrats all gathered for tonight's event. The air was filled with the scent of fine cologne and soft music. Damian Rhodes arrived with Lois on his arm, wearing his finest suit. When he walked in, people’s heads turned, and a group of well-wishers quickly surrounded him. Many of them were business associates and acquaintances. "Hey, Damian! Good to see you, old chap." "Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I'll be there, of course." "Heard you're bidding on that refinery. What wild luck. The refinery is as good as yours, Rhodes. No one else stands a chance." Damian shook hands, accepted praise, and exchanged pleasantries. Lois stood beside him, her emerald dress catching the light, her smile polished and perfect. She played the role of the billion

  • A new man

Brown stood on the tarmac outside the busy private terminal of the airport, his eyes steadily fixed on the horizon. A convoy of luxury cars stretched out behind him, their engines quietly purring as men in black suits and sunglasses stood at attention next to each vehicle, looking sharp and polished. For the fifth time in five minutes, Brown checked his watch, his heart pounding with excitement. He found it hard to believe how quickly time moved. Days turned into weeks, weeks stretched into months, and before anyone realized it, six months had passed like a breeze. It had been six months since Ethan had left for Switzerland. During those six months, he had ACL surgery and completed his rehabilitation. Brown couldn't wait to see what changes his new boss had undergone over these months. At that moment, the sound of engines roared from afar, growing louder with each passing second. Brown looked up and saw a sleek black private jet descending from the clouds, its wheels touching d

  • The divorcee

The courtroom fell into a tense silence while the judge examined the final documents before her. Ethan sat stiffly in his chair, his chest still rising and falling from the earlier outburst, his eyes fixed on the floor. The security guards stood nearby, ready to intervene if he caused any more trouble."After thoroughly reviewing all the evidence," the judge said, her tone steady and commanding, "this court rules in favor of the petitioner, Lois Carter." Ethan glanced up sharply. He knew it would turn out like this. The judge went on. "She is hereby awarded the entire balance of the respondent's bank account, amounting to one million dollars."Before Ethan could protest, she banged her gavel. "This divorce is hereby finalized. Court is adjourned."Lois let out a cheerful laugh, turning to her parents with a wide smile. Her parents embraced her, whispering congratulations."No!" Ethan shouted in despair. "That isn't fair. She walks away with everything, and I’m left with nothing?"

  • Divorce proceeding part 2

In just a brief moment after stepping into the courtroom, Ethan had already figured out what was happening. This divorce was set up to drain him dry. There was no other way around it. Given how resourceful Damian can be, it wasn’t surprising he found out about the $1 million transfer Ethan received in his bank account. However, that didn’t bother Ethan. It was the $500 trillion crypto wallet that really mattered to him. If those vultures knew about his crypto fortune, Lois would demand a big cut. Ethan would rather die than give her a single penny of that money, especially after her betrayal. Damian's lawyer stood up, a big smile on his face. "Your Honor, our investigation has revealed that Mr. Carter received a deposit of one million dollars just two days ago. He has been hiding assets and lying about his financial situation." Inside, a wave of relief washed over Ethan. They only knew about the million dollars. Good. Clearly, it was impossible for them to have known abo

  • The divorce proceeding

The next day, Ethan sat at the dining table with a plate of eggs, fresh fruit, and pastries in front of him. He was halfway through his breakfast when a soft knock sounded at the door."Come in," Ethan called out.The door swung open, and Brown entered, followed by a tall, distinguished man in his early fifties who wore spectacles. The man held a leather medical bag in one hand and a tablet in the other."Master Wayne," Brown said, bowing his head slightly. "Allow me to introduce Dr. Jonathan Lawrence, the orthopedic specialist I mentioned earlier. He arrived this morning from London."Ethan put down his fork and stood up from his chair, steadying himself on his crutches. He extended his hand. "Dr. Lawrence, thank you for coming. I appreciate you making the trip on such short notice."Dr. Lawrence shook his hand firmly, his grip warm and comforting. "The pleasure is mine, Mr. Wayne. When Mr. Brown called me and explained your situation, I knew I had to help. I've spent my career resto

  • The Loyalty of Strangers

The moment the ten security guards appeared and surrounded Ethan, Lois stiffened in shock. She couldn't believe it. Just one word from Ethan, and the hotel's security guards were already dispatched. They look intimidating and muscular as they glared at her. "Kick them out," Brown ordered, pointing directly at Lois. "And make sure they're banned from Paradise Hotel permanently."By now, Damian's laughter died in his throat as he watched the guards march toward them."Wait," Damian said, his voice hardening. "You're seriously going to listen to Ethan? He's a nobody! Why are you following his orders?"But the guards didn't give them any time to react. They grabbed hold of them and dragged them from the lobby. "Get off me!" Lois shouted, struggling against the guard's grip. "This is outrageous! You can't do this!"Her parents were shouting too, their voices filled with protests and insults as they were also dragged towards the exit. Damian turned to Brown, his face flushed with anger.
