The platform of Highmont City Station was crowded, noisy, and alive. But around one man, there was silence. He stood alone, tall, still, and untouchable.

A worn coat hung over his broad shoulders, the fabric faded with time. A small, shabby bag rested in his grip.

His face, though handsome bore scars of battles no one would ever understand. Nothing about him suggested wealth or status.

And yet, no one dared come close.

Some women stole glances at him, drawn by the sharp lines of his face and the quiet danger surrounding him. But the moment their eyes met his icy green gaze, they quickly looked away.

His gaze was too cold and empty. As if he had already seen hell... and walked out of it.

---

"Veyron Blackthorne, twenty-one years old, has been found guilty of disobeying military orders and violating discipline because of personal emotions, thus endangering national stability."

"His title, honors, and recognition as Meridian's Legendary Warlord are hereby revoked."

"He is sentenced to death by hanging."

---

"Hang him!"

"Crucify him!"

The hollow echoes of the voices from the military court replayed in his mind.

The whispers of betrayal from those he had called his brother was clear and unforgotten.

Veyron didn't blink.

Six years ago, he had stood at the peak of Meridian's army as the youngest marshal in its history.

He was feared on the battlefield, and revered by the people.

He was a man who had risen from nothing and carved his name into legend.

---

Until they chose to destroy him.

---

Silas Sinclair.

The name surfaced like a wound that never healed.

His brother. His comrade. The one man he trusted without question was murdered brutally.

His head was displayed like a trophy at the borders for all to see, and left to rot for days.

Others had also fallen beside him, slaughtered and humiliated in the same manner.

Soldiers who had given everything to protect the nation, cast aside like ashes.

---

Veyron's grip tightened slightly around the bag as the memory burned.

---

When the news reached him, his fingers had trembled so violently that night he nearly crushed the communicator in his hand.

But the army ordered a retreat.

"Losses are too great," they said.

"No reinforcements."

"Stand down."

---

Stand down?

After everything those soldiers had sacrificed?

They wouldn't even bring them home to give them a befitting funeral.

---

So Veyron disobeyed, and he went alone.

---

That night… the border turned into hell.

He showed no mercy. Not when they begged. Not when they ran. Not when the ground turned red beneath his feet.

By dawn, thousands had fallen by his hands. Blood ran like rivers. Bodies piled like mountains. And above them, the flag of Meridian stood tall.

"Silas, look, I have avenged you."

"If there's another life… we fight again."

"I will kill the enemies, shed my blood and sacrifice my head for you."

"Rest well, my brother."

---

Tales of the Legendary Warlord who charged alone into the enemy's camp and annihilated them all spread across the country.

Cities whispered his name. Songs of praises were sung. Children dreamed of being like him. The country called it heroism.

But the army? They called it a mistake.

---

Because this time, Veyron had become something they could no longer control.

---

They claimed his actions had led to tense relations between the two countries. So they stripped him of everything. And erased him from history.

---

But six years later, Veyron Blackthorne now stood outside the city's train station. Official records claimed his sentence had been commuted for "good conduct."

A clean lie.

---

Veyron knew better. Only those who understood the inner workings of Meridian's military knew that was far from the truth.

---

He stepped forward as an announcement rang through the station.

"Train 1234 preparing for departure."

The crowd surged and he moved with them—calm, steady, and silent. Like a storm waiting to happen.

---

This time… he wasn't returning for Meridian. He was returning for a promise. To fulfill Silas' last wish that had been written in blood-stained prints.

And when it is fulfilled, he would make the entire nation kneel!

---

VROOM!

The taxi sped off leaving behind a cloud of dust, but Veyron didn't move immediately.

Instead his gaze lingered on the house before him. It looked dilapidated, quiet, and wrong.

He glanced down at his phone.

The address was correct.

But this…

This wasn't the house he was expecting.

"Aunt Jasmine…" his brows furrowed slightly in confusion.

He could clearly remember that years ago, his aunt's letters had been filled with excitement about the new house she had acquired.

Back then, he had sent everything he earned without fail. So how did it come to this?

Low murmurs drifted nearby. Veyron lifted his head, and only then did he notice the small crowd gathered outside the house.

Neighbors were watching and whispering, but no one stepped in.

"Robert is a beast…" one woman said under her breath.

"He drinks, gambles, and beats his wife almost every night."

"I heard sometimes he doesn't come home for days. He is definitely keeping another woman outside."

"Tch… Jasmine is so unlucky to have a useless husband like him. She is too good for him."

Veyron's eyes darkened.

"But why doesn't anyone stop him?" a younger voice asked.

There was silence before a scoff.

"Do you want to get involved? That man is crazy."

Veyron's gaze swept across them. Not one of them met his eyes.

Tch... Cowards.

Then, a sharp sound tore through the air.

SMACK!

Meanwhile, back inside the villa, Celeste watched the direction Veyron had disappeared with unconcealed disdain. A mocking smile curled across her lips."Hmph! Beg him to come back?" she scoffed. "Who does he think he is? The audacity."Lucas let out a faint chuckle as he unpacked his medical kit. "Mrs. Mercer, why waste your energy on someone like him?" His tone was filled with confidence. "He's nothing more than a con artist who got lucky once or twice. People like that survive by bluffing. They aren't worth remembering.""Exactly." Celeste folded her arms proudly. "Now that he's gone, the house finally feels peaceful."She looked toward Charles with concern. "Dr. Hayes, please treat my husband. I've waited long enough."Lucas nodded. "Leave everything to me."He placed the leather medical case on the coffee table before opening it with practiced ease.Inside lay rows of gleaming silver needles arranged according to size.Without wasting another second, he crouched beside Charles a

"Mrs. Mercer," Lucas said with a faint smile, gently interrupting her. "Since this is Mr. Mercer's decision... let's leave it at that."He slowly turned toward Veyron, his eyes filled with unconcealed disdain. "Now that everyone knows the truth, I doubt he'll have the courage to deceive anyone ever again.""Hmph!" Celeste folded her arms and looked at Veyron arrogantly. "You should be thanking Dr. Hayes. If he hadn't exposed you today, I would've reported you already."Veyron merely glanced at her before letting out a quiet chuckle. The corners of his lips lifted slightly.Thank him? This fool?Seeing that he wasn't the least bit embarrassed only made Celeste angrier."What are you laughing at?" Her voice rose several degrees. "Have you no shame?""Mrs. Mercer, don't waste your energy arguing with someone like him." Lucas lightly patted her shoulder. He smiled politely. "We're educated people. There's no need to lower ourselves to his level.""Exactly." Celeste nodded immediately. "We

"Oh?" Lucas let out a faint, disdainful chuckle. "So you're still unconvinced?"He folded his arms across his chest before asking slowly, "Then allow me to ask you something. Do you possess a medical practitioner's license?"The room instantly fell silent. Everyone's eyes shifted toward Veyron. He merely looked at Lucas before answering without the slightest hesitation. "No."There was complete silence. The answer landed like a stone thrown into a still lake. No one had expected him to admit it so openly.More shocking than the answer itself was how calm he remained while saying it. It was as though he had merely stated an ordinary fact."You..." Celeste's eyes widened in disbelief before rage quickly replaced her surprise. She pointed a trembling finger at Veyron. "You fraud! How dare you practice medicine without a license?""Do you have any idea how serious that is?" Her beautiful face twisted with anger. "The nerve you have is unbelievable!"Charles' expression also darkened. He s

All eyes instinctively turned toward the staircase. The stunning young woman in her late twenties descended gracefully, each step elegant and unhurried. She was dressed in a tailored cream-colored suit that perfectly accentuated her slender figure. Every movement carried effortless confidence and sophistication.Rather than the wife of a patient, she looked more like a celebrity attending a fashion gala."Celeste." Edmund smiled faintly. "Don't judge him by his age."He gestured confidently toward Veyron. "Mr. Blackthorne may be young, but his medical skills are extraordinary."Celeste's beautiful eyes slowly drifted toward Veyron. She looked him over from head to toe. A trace of undisguised contempt appeared on her face."Extraordinary?" Her lips curled into a mocking smile. "He looks more like a first-class fraud."The atmosphere instantly became awkward. Veyron merely lowered his gaze and casually adjusted the wristwatch on his left wrist, as though he hadn't even heard her remark.
