Chapter 9: Class Conflict

The moment Lawrence received the bag, he casually produced his Crown Black Gold Card and passed it to the manager.

Yet the manager gently pushed the card back with a respectful smile.

“Mr. Lawrence, you are our most esteemed guest. You don’t need to spend a single cent here. In fact, not just here—any luxury boutique around the globe will honor this card. Wherever you go, if you hold the Crown Black Gold Card, everything you desire will already belong to you.”

Lawrence blinked, caught slightly off guard. This card is that powerful? Two hundred thousand yuan, dismissed as nothing.

Without another word, he slipped the card back into his pocket and walked out with the carrier bag in hand.

The manager and his two subordinates followed closely behind, respectfully escorting Lawrence to the exit.

Once he had left, the manager cast a meaningful glance at Hailey. Clearly, Lawrence had shown enough interest in her to overlook Mary’s mistake.

“From today onwards, you’ll shadow me and learn everything as quickly as possible. If you don’t grow into this role fast enough, I won’t have the confidence to entrust this store to you.”

The manager didn’t wait for Hailey’s response, simply turning on his heel and heading back into the shop.

Hailey hadn’t imagined such a golden opportunity would come her way so quickly, all because of a brief encounter with Lawrence.

Mary, though envious, wasn’t bitter. She knew perfectly well—if not for Hailey, she would have been fired on the spot.

Meanwhile, Lawrence stepped out, hailed a taxi, and made his way to Ascension University.

As fate would have it, the very moment he entered the classroom, he ran into Micheal and Lucy walking in together.

“Well, well. Isn’t this Lawrence?” Micheal smirked, deliberately raising his voice. “Did you manage to get any sleep last night? Because I can assure you—we slept very well.”

The word “sleep” carried a deliberate sting, its implication obviously a reminder to Lawrence about the incident which occurred last night.

"What are they talking about?"

"I don't know. Did Micheal and Lawrence got into a fight?"

"Idiot. Why are you asking questions as if you don't know? Look, Lucy is acting all lovey Dovey with Micheal instead of Lawrence whom she has been in relationship for a year. Isn't that obvious?"

"*Gasp* don't tell me, it's Lawrence turn to wear the green cap in our class?"

"I knew Micheal lusty eyes wouldn't pass Lucy. It was only a matter of time. Poor Lawrence."

Their classmates erupted into whispers. Everyone knew Lucy had been Lawrence’s girlfriend, yet here she was clinging shamelessly to Micheal’s arm. The betrayal was blatant.

Lawrence, however, didn’t rise to the bait. He simply fixed them both with a cold stare.

“Lawrence, I've been waiting for you. Where did you go to?”

A new voice cut in from behind. A bespectacled boy pushed his way into the room, eyeing Lawrence with a trace of curiosity.

Lawrence’s expression softened into a faint smile when he recognized him. “Relax, Daniel. We’re just having a little chat.”

Daniel adjusted his black-framed glasses, his clear eyes glinting with a deceptively mild air. To most, he looked like a harmless bookworm. But Lawrence knew better. Behind that quiet demeanor was a man who had once slaughtered three full-grown men single-handedly—all to protect a girl he didn’t even know.

Later, Lawrence discovered Daniel’s background: a soldier’s son, raised under merciless discipline. While other children played with toys, Daniel trained in combat day and night. His fists, his speed, his precision were something ordinary men didn’t stand a chance. Ironically, the very reason he never joined the army was because he loathed the life that had forged him.

Despite his edge, Daniel and the other two roommates had always looked out for Lawrence. They’d treated him like a brother, dragging him to meals yet never letting him pay a dime. They had even helped him when he was courting Lucy.

Now Daniel frowned in confusion at Lawrence’s casual dismissal. His gaze shifted—and when he noticed Lucy’s hand entwined with Micheal’s, his eyes narrowed sharply.

Lucy… wasn’t she Lawrence’s girlfriend? Then why—

The realization hit him instantly. He removed his glasses, the harmless mask vanishing, leaving only a cold glare directed straight at Lucy and Micheal.

“Lawrence Wilson, are you deaf?” Lucy snapped suddenly, her voice shrill. “Didn’t you hear Micheal asking you a question?”

Her tone dripped with arrogance. Now that she had left Lawrence for Micheal, she had braced herself for such a confrontation. Yet in her mind, everyone else was simply jealous—jealous that she had traded up for a wealthy second-generation heir, jealous of the luxury she now enjoyed.

Lawrence’s face didn’t twitch. His voice was icy, each word deliberate.

“Lucy, there’s nothing left between us. From this moment on, stay away from me. Just looking at you makes me sick. If I had known you were this cheap I wouldn't have wasted my time. Maybe buy you a cheap bag and give you ramen will be enough to make you open your legs wide for me.”

The entire class froze in shock due to the words he spoke.

Lucy’s face turned scarlet. Lawrence, who had once worshipped her, now dared humiliate her in public. Rage boiled over.

“You worthless bastard! How dare you talk to me like that? I was right to dump you. You’re nothing but a pathetic insect, a useless bedbug crawling at the bottom of society. Micheal is leagues above you—he’s ten thousand times the man you’ll ever be!”

A collective gasp swept through the classroom. No one had expected the couple, once so affectionate, to tear into each other like this.

And it was the single students who enjoyed seeing this lovers fight. At least they can sleep peacefully knowing some people are no longer together.

Lawrence’s lips curled into a smile, but it was a bitter one. Her words cut deep, reopening wounds he thought had begun to close. A year of shared memories couldn’t be erased in an instant, no matter how coldly he wanted to act.

“That’s right, Lucy,” Micheal chimed in, sneering. “You finally wised up. I’ll never understand what you saw in this loser to begin with. Look at him—he’s not rich, he’s not handsome, he’s nothing.”

  • Chapter 101: Is This Electricity Energy?

With a grunt of effort, Lawrence subconsciously willed the electrical current within him to surge. He felt a jolt, not painful but intensely stimulating, as the energy raced through his nervous system. His tendons seemed to tighten and his bones hummed with a sudden, sharp influx of power. His strength and agility spiked dramatically. In three explosive strides, fueled by this bio-electric boost, he closed the distance with the fleeing monster. The creature was not an idiot. Seeing the club whistling towards its head, it threw itself into a desperate, scrambling dodge. The evasion saved it from the immediate blow, but it completely destroyed its momentum to run, costing it its last chance to escape.Using the creature's stumble, Lawrence took a huge, bounding stride. He dropped the club and in one fluid motion, drew the pale blue knife from his waist. Capitalizing on the monster's off-balance state, he drove the blade into its back with every ounce of his enhanced strength. The incred

  • Chapter 100: Fighting Monsters

A cold knot of fear tightened in Lawrence’s stomach as he watched the neighboring courtyard gate swing wide open. The pack of fish-headed monsters relentlessly swung their clubs, beating the lifeless form on the ground with a rhythmic, sickening finality. He had never seen the man before, but the man’s earlier, slurred words made it clear he was another displaced soul from Lawrence’s world. And he was the complete opposite of Lawrence. Where Lawrence had been hyper-vigilant from his first moment here, this man had been recklessly oblivious, a fact that baffled Lawrence. When he woke up, didn't he see the extreme decay? Didn't he feel the wrongness in the air? Lawrence wondered. The only explanation was that the man was still severely intoxicated, mistaking this nightmare for a drunken hallucination or a bad dream. It was a fatal error. The monsters’ clubs, though less than half a meter long, had round, heavy heads that inflicted devastating damage. Under the relentless pounding from

The moment consciousness returned, a dull, throbbing ache pulsed behind his eyes. However, his muddled brain snapped into instant, chilling clarity the second he saw the ruined, water-stained ceiling above him.He sat bolt upright, his eyes frantically scanning his surroundings."Shit! I'm back in the Alternate World!"The curse escaped his lips in a horrified whisper, and he felt a desperate, sinking feeling that was dangerously close to tears. The light filtering through the broken window was a sickly, dusky gray. The floor and the lone table were thick with undisturbed dust. The Michael Jackson poster was now a faded, yellowed relic, the iconic face twisted into a ghastly semblance by decay. Countless spider webs hung like ragged veils from the walls and corners. The forgotten fruit on the table was a fuzzy, multicolored mound of mold, and the ones beneath had liquefied into a pool of black, putrid sludge. The alumi

The limousine seemed to shrink around Lawrence, the luxurious interior feeling more like a confessional booth where world-shattering secrets were being exchanged. Albert’s words hung in the air, dense and unbelievable. You are not the only one.“What do you mean?” Lawrence finally managed to whisper, his voice hoarse. “There are others?”Albert’s calm demeanor had returned, but it was now layered with a grave seriousness. “As of my last intelligence briefing, there have been over eight hundred documented cases within Freedom Country alone. Individuals who, like you, simply vanish from their beds. Some reappear minutes, hours, or days later. Some are found dead, their bodies… ravaged by things we cannot explain. And a small, distinct subset return alive, fundamentally changed.”Lawrence’s mind reeled, trying to process the scale. “Eight hundred? How… how is this not the only thing on the news? This would be a global panic!”A faint, weary smile touched Albert’s lips. “The government, y

Vivian didn't insist on the money, gracefully accepting his refusal. "Okay then. But since you were instrumental in me winning such a staggering amount, the least I can do is treat you to a meal another day. You won't refuse me that, will you?"She gave him a charming, persuasive smile. "Give me your phone number, and I will contact you when the time comes."Vivian had already been this persistent, and Lawrence felt it would be churlish to refuse a simple meal. He reluctantly recited his number for her.Ahem...Suddenly, a light, deliberate cough cut through the night air, immediately catching Lawrence's attention. When he turned to see who it was, a stiff, guilty smile slowly spread across his face. He looked like a child who had sworn to his parents he wouldn't go to the forbidden quarry, only to be caught red-handed with muddy shoes."Ah, Sir Albert! You... frequent this place...? Hehehe, that's a surprise," Lawrence said with a nervous laugh, looking at the impeccably dressed man
