Chapter 1: Girlfriend’s Betrayal
Chapter 1: Girlfriend’s Betrayal
At nine o’clock in the evening, inside the Moon Bar on Light Street. A young man in black pants and a fitted shirt moved among the noisy guests, balancing drinks on a tray with practiced ease. A headset sat snug in his ear, buzzing suddenly with the manager’s voice. “Lawrence, VIP Room Two wants you to deliver champagne immediately.” Lawrence Wilson frowned. Who on earth would specifically ask for him? He’d only been working here a short while and hardly knew anyone. Still, he shrugged off the thought. If it earned him commission, why complain? He collected the chilled champagne from the bar counter, set it carefully on a tray, and made his way down the hall toward the private rooms. When he reached Room Two, he noticed the door wasn’t fully shut. Through the crack slipped the unmistakable sound of heavy breathing. “Look at you, panting already. I barely touched you and you’re soaking wet.” “So… so good… hubby, faster…” “Who’s your hubby? I’m your master now.” “Yes, master… please… quickly…” Lawrence smirked as he shook his head with a soft chuckle. Another couple too impatient to wait for him to deliver the drink. He’d seen this plenty of times in his short stint at the bar, people who couldn’t even bother finding a hotel. Some even went at it in the restroom of all places. Private rooms like this one were practically made for one-night stands. Rapping politely on the door, Lawrence called out, “Sir, your champagne is here. I’ll just leave it at the door so as not to disturb you.” “Bring it in.” Lawrence froze upon hearing those words. The man’s voice was rough and Lawrence even felt some eagerness from it. Was this some strange fetish? Like forcing strangers to witness their scene which will give him a boost of alpha like feeling while dominating a woman? Lawrence thought as he hesitated. “Sir, it’s not really appropriate for me to enter right now—” “Stop yapping. Get in here or I’ll file a complaint against you for not accepting a customer order!” The sharp bark left Lawrence no room to argue. A complaint would mean docked pay, maybe even losing his job. He needed this income. With a heavy sigh, he pushed the door open. The scene hit him instantly the moment he stepped in, a man and woman entangled on the sofa, half-naked bodies pressed together in a p**n like manner. The man kissed her hungrily, devouring her lips, while his hand roamed freely. The woman moaned softly under him. 'Young guys with passion of..." Lawrence’s steps faltered as his thoughts were cut short, with his expression hardened, fury flashing in his eyes. Even from the woman’s side profile, he knew it was Lucy Thomas, his girlfriend. His vision blurred red from rage the moment he saw it. “What the hell are you doing to her? Let go of Lucy!” His roar cut through the room like a blade. The pair jerked in shock as Lucy scrambled for her clothes with her face pale. “Lawrence? Why are you here? This… this isn’t what it looks like!” Her words stumbled out in panic. She’d known he worked part-time, but never where and his sudden appearance sent her heart racing in confusion. The man turned lazily, lips curling into a mocking grin and when Lawrence saw his face clearly, his stomach dropped. Micheal Forbes. They are classmates in university with Micheal being the arrogant rich kid with a family clothing factory pulling in millions each year. Tall, handsome, filthy rich and has that bad boy vibes, all girls go crazy for. The so-called male god countless girls dreamed about. But Lawrence and other males knew his darker side. Micheal was a notorious playboy who delighted in stealing girlfriends, boasting of the thrill money could buy. He never used protection just to break the male further by showing how he can enter their girls raw while they can't. Rumor had it one girl had gotten pregnant, only to be abandoned by him. She ended her life, and when scandal broke, Micheal’s family buried the truth with bribes and lies, leaving the dead girl disgraced. Now here he was again, smirking at Lawrence while Lucy’s bare chest rose and fell in the dim light. Lawrence never expected for his turn to arrive making his fists clenched until his knuckles cracked. His neck veins bulged as his face burnt with rage. With a roar, he smashed the champagne against the wall causing it to shatter as the wine splatter across the carpet. “You think I’m blind? You shameless pair of traitors!” His heart twisted in pain and rage. He wasn’t a fool, he knew Lucy had betrayed him. He remembered their first days together at university. He, the poor orphan scraping by on government subsidies while she, the beauty who had captured his heart. To give her the life she deserved, he’d taken on endless part-time jobs, spending every spare coin on her. Gifts, dinners, little luxuries she wanted—he gave without hesitation, even if it left him hungry. Just last night he had dreamed of proposing after graduation, building a family together. He had even planned their married life in detail. And this was what he got in return. The irony burned like acid. Lucy, dressing herself in front of him with no shame after calming down and sneered. “Lawrence Wilson, who do you think you are? I was blind to be fooled by your sweet words. Why would I waste my youth on a broke loser like you? Do you see this Bulgari necklace? Thirty thousand yuan. Could you ever afford it? Micheal bought it without blinking. That’s the life I want, not eating discounted meals with you.” Her words cut deeper than knives to Lawrence as he state at her mouth agape in disbelief. “My friend was right. With my looks and body, I deserve better. Micheal isn’t just richer than you, he’s more handsome, more generous, more fun. He’s the kind of man worthy of me.” Lawrence’s chest heaved upon hearing those words, his voice hoarse. “Lucy… after everything I’ve done for you, is this your justice?” Her face twisted in disdain upon hearing his words. Pa! She strode forward, slapped him hard across the cheek, and spat, “Justice? You don’t deserve to even say that. Whatever money you wasted on me, be grateful I even let you. Men would line up to spend their fortunes on me. You should feel honored. Now get out. You disgust me.” Micheal chuckled, his tone dripping with arrogance as he witness this scene. “Lawrence, I should thank you, though. You dated Lucy for over a year and never laid a hand on her. Imagine my delight when I found out she was still a virgin. The first time I had her, it was… incredible. Want me to describe it for you?”Expand

"Manager, there’s an issue at Caesar Mall. We have a customer with a Crown Black Gold Card, and we can’t verify whether it’s authentic. Could you come over?"The manager agreed, and Mary hung up. Turning to Lawrence, she barked sharply, "Stay right here. Don’t move. The manager will arrive shortly. Then we’ll see if your card is genuine."Lawrence, still caught off guard, tried to process the chaos. All I wanted was to buy a damn bag, and now this?Minutes later, a woman in her thirties appeared. Lawrence, you, of all people, want to buy this bag?" Karen sneered, clutching Dylan’s arm as if it proved her superiority. "Don’t be ridiculous. With all the money you’ve scraped together in your pathetic life, you probably couldn’t even afford a single button on it.""Heh, baby, don’t lump everyone with me," Dylan added with a smug grin. He tightened his arm around Karen’s waist, speaking loud enough for Lawrence to hear. "My family has tens of millions in the bank. The interest alone in a year is more than he’ll ever see in his lifetime."Mary frowned impatiently. "This is absurd. I told you to behave, yet here you are causing trouble. Get out now, or I’ll call security."Lawrence was dumbfounded. All I wanted was to buy a bag. Did I provoke anyone here? And who decided I couldn’t afford it?Suppressing his irritation,

An orphan like him was beneath even a stray dog."It's me. Didn’t expect to see you here," Lawrence said with a faint smile, unaware of her subtle change of expression.Karen didn’t even glance at him. Instead, she turned to Mary Brown and sneered, "Mary, your store is so generous—letting a beggar stroll in and loiter. But won’t his stench drive away real customers?"She pinched her nose with exaggerated disgust.Mary, a Dior salesperson with years of experience, wasn’t foolish. She immediately looked at Lawrence and snapped, "Sir, if you’re not here to make a purchase, please leave immediately. Don’t disturb our guests."Lawrence’s expression darkened.
