Boring Birthday

"What a boring birthday," Sean chuckled as he washed all the dirty dishes before him. The dirty dishes were like a small mountain. He had to clean up as soon as possible.

Before, Sean didn't have to wash dishes by hand because a machine did it for him. Sean is now washing the dishes by hand because the machine is broken.

Sean is not rich but very smart and gets to go to a really good college. He also looks pretty good, which helps him not look as poor.

Sean is a really good-looking man, but because he comes from a family with little money, some rich men don't like him and bully him because they feel he's better-looking than them.

"Hey, waiter, why are you so slow?" Sean held back his anger. The man works as a waitperson in the school canteen and must remain friendly with all students.

"Sorry, here's your food." Sean immediately served the food he had brought from the kitchen.

"Ah, you are so slow." The man began to taste the fried chicken Sean served him. "What is this? Are you trying to play with me?"

With a confused expression, Sean gazed at the man. "The fried chicken is precisely what you requested, so is there an error?" Despite feeling upset, Sean managed to force a smile.

Sean knew his friend was looking for a confrontation, but he could not handle the workplace bully. Sean had to control his feelings to safeguard his job at the college.

"Loyal to my message? Are you deaf? I said I wanted something normal, but why is it spicy? Do you want to kill me?" The man pounded the table in annoyance.

"Come on, Harry, what is it this time? I've brought what you ordered. You can read this note!" An exasperated Sean took out his note in his apron and looked at the note to his friend named Harry.

"You're deaf, I didn't say that! You eat!" Harry then pushed the fried chicken plate to Sean, but Sean caught it quickly so the fried chicken plate didn't fall off.

"Why are you so childish?" Sean, unable to contain his emotions any longer, immediately gave Harry an angry look.

"Why don't you accept it?" Harry folded his arms across his chest and gave Sean a contemptuous look.

With dominant emotion, Sean shouted, "You!" as he pointed his hand at Harry's face, who appeared to be seeking a confrontation.

Despite being his birthday, Sean thought today was bad because he hadn't experienced a beautiful day.

"How dare you point your finger at me!" The tall man didn't accept Sean's finger, and Sean was rude. An angry Harry immediately grabbed Sean's hair forcefully. Harry felt that a poor person like Sean had always been beneath him, and even Sean shouldn't disobey his orders because the caste system put Sean in his current situation, and he was still at a disadvantage.

Sean shouted, "Let go of me, asshole!" I urged him to hit Harry with his hands for daring to pull his precious hair.

Dare you to fight me? Are you trying to hit me? I'll have the cafeteria owner fire you immediately, Sean," Harry scoffed arrogantly. Harry had an enormous body with powerful muscles in his arms, making Sean look smaller than the man.

Harry thought Sean couldn't hit him in the cafeteria then. Furthermore, Sean was vulnerable, so he could only reluctantly endure whatever Harry would do to him.

"Calm down, Sean, calm down," Sean just tried to calm himself in his heart. The man looked at Harry with a murderous glare because Harry had dared to ruin his day, and now the man was even threatening to make his job disappear openly.

"Well, you came to your senses and here's my gift to you!" Harry poured Sean a bowl of soup, laughing out loud.

Harry was delighted to see Sean suffer, saying, "It's perfect for you!" grammatically correctly.

"Asshole!" Sean, who could not stand it, immediately grabbed Harry by the collar.

Harry recognized Sean as a lucky poor man and accepted him into this prestigious school. "To all of us, you are just a servant who is not worthy of studying with us." Harry continued to provoke Sean's emotions. If Harry made Sean emotional, he would lose his job immediately. So Harry could see Sean grieving over the disappearance of one of his pocket money incomes.

"You!" Sean tried to throw his punch at Harry. However, before Sean could spill his anger, a girl stopped him. Sean, of course, looked at the woman who had dared to stop him.

Karen, the head cheerleader, asked, "What is happening?" With her striking blue eyes and brown hair, Karen was a prima donna and the most prominent girl on campus.

Karen had observed Harry bully Sean from afar but hesitated to intervene directly. She didn't want to be seen as a goody-two-shoes for assisting those vulnerable.

"It's nothing, Miss Karen. I'm just teaching a fly to know where it belongs," Harry replied respectfully. Karen was the basketball chair's target. Harry didn't want to get in trouble with the girl because, ultimately, Sammy, the basketball chair, would destroy anyone who dared disturb his heart's praise.

Harry realized that his family's wealth was significantly lower than that of Karen and Sammy, and thus, he was unwilling to risk his family's future business connections.

"Then why is Sean's face wet? Come on, Harry, you're not bullying people here!" Karen also looked at Harry fiercely, and Karen also took out a tissue from her bag, but Sean ignored it.

Karen continued, saying, "Sean, please release your grip as the cafeteria lady observes you." Consequently, Sean let go.

Sean whispered in Harry's ear, "Watch out, you asshole!" He quickly returned to a neutral state to calm his intense emotions.

"You don't have to be like that. We're all the same here as students," Karen advised Harry a little as Sean left, but the girl didn't want to appear to be defending Sean and blaming Harry.

"Okay, ma'am," Harry replied reluctantly, knowing the show was over, and if Karen was still around, he couldn't bully Sean anymore.

As soon as Sean entered the kitchen, the canteen owner arrived.

"Sean, I know you're not happy with what that boy did, but remember, it's hard for us to accept you because you know it's not a rule on this campus that all students have to work. So I hope you will understand." After saying this, the lady in the cafeteria left, leaving Sean sitting on the ground, clasping his hand.

The afternoon had come, and Sean had completed cleaning the cafeteria. It was now time for him to leave and head home.

A girl was waiting for Sean at the back door, and he was unaware of it.

"Why are you being treated so calmly?" the girl asked in a bitter tone, approaching Shun. The pretty girl couldn't understand someone who kept silent when others humiliated him.

"Do I have the right to fight back?" Sean said with a wry smile. The beautiful girl in front of him understood the suffering he was currently feeling.

"You're disappointing, you could have fought back if you wanted to!" said Karen in a disappointed tone. Karen didn't expect Sean to be so resigned to being bullied by the other kids.

Sean decided not to respond to Karen's words and ignored her. He believed Karen, a spoiled girl, would not comprehend his current situation. Sean proceeded quietly, ignoring Karen, who trailed behind him.

Karen felt even more disappointed when she saw Sean ignore the attention she had given him. With a fierce gaze, Karen handed Sean an invitation before leaving ahead of him. "I want you to come and celebrate my special day," she said.

Sean remained silent and did not respond or acknowledge Karen's invitation. Karen, feeling anxious, eventually pushed the invitation into Sean's hand.

Karen repeated, "I want you to come!" once more. Sean's lack of response caused the girl to leave him alone finally.

"Tomorrow night? Today is my own birthday, and I didn't even give it to you. How can I spend time with that coquettish girl?" Hearing Karen's invitation to him, Sean said with a wry smile. Sean just ignored the invitation for now and Sean continued on his way.

Sean's cell phone rang soon after he started walking, and he answered it immediately as it was a call from his family.

"Yes, I'm going home," Sean answered shortly.

"Never mind, don't insist. I know what I'm doing right now. Aren't you the ones who made me get used to this situation?" Sean said in a bitter tone. His family upset him more on his birthday; Sean twisted off the phone because the man didn't want to hear more nonsense from his family.
