The Prodigy's Return

CHAPTER 4

When Ava and Mike arrived at the entrance of the hall, they are stopped by the security guard at the gate.

“What is the meaning of this” Ava asked in anger.

“We don’t allow guests without their tickets” The security man replied.

“Are you crazy? Is something wrong with you?” Ava snapped.

“Listen guys we are in the middle of a paparazzi, stop all these gimmicks and allow the both of us go inside” Mike entered the conversation after calming them down.

“So sorry sir, but the truth is that without the ticket no one is allowed inside” 

“Fine, how much is the ticket?” Mike asked, still pleading to Ava to calm down as she appeared to be absolutely livid.

“Ten million dollars..”

“Are you out of your mind?” Ava asked and reached out to her phone. She was tired of the continuous embarrassment from the security.  

“Joe!” She yelled the moment the director picked up the phone. “What is this madness? Why will the security men prevent me from moving inside”

“Are you with a ticket?” Joe asked.

“Come on Joe. We both know I have never attended any movie premier from this production that will require me to buy a ticket.” Ava replied.

“Well things have changed now. Everyone is paying for a ticket before they enter the theatre” Joe explained.

“But this is not fair! I am your biggest actress and you treat me like,” She paused the moment her phone beeped, indicating that Joe had hung up.

“You know what darling, I think we should go back home. I am tired of this embarrassment already” Mike suggested.

Ava was beyond infuriated at that point. 

She could  not wait to speak with the directors about the absolute disgrace she is facing in the hand of their production.

On their way out of the theatre, Ava noticed Monalisa and Jack walking into the theatre. One thing she observed was the fact that they did not show any ticket.

“Did you see that?” Ava asked as both she and Mike got into the car. “So the production is indirectly sending me a message and I have failed to pick it” Ava added, connecting the dots together.

“What are you talking about?”

“Isn’t it obvious? They are slowly trying to replace me” Ava pointed out.

“No, they will not want to try it” Mike insisted as he turned on the ignition of his vehicle and was ready to move.

“Monalisa was allowed into the theatre without a ticket.” Ava said and then another thought came to her mind. “How did Jack got to meet with her?”

“Ava!” Mike called out in frustration.

“You are doing too much. Just let it be. Tomorrow we will go to the production and ask for your release from the contract you signed.” Mike explained in detail.

“Then what happens to my career?” Ava asked.

“I am Mike Doom. The biggest actor on the face of the planet. I am sure that I can pull one  or two tricks up my sleeves to earn you another big role” Mike assured.

Ava smiled and placed her hand on his chin.

“That is why I love you” She said with excitement.

“My client has decided to put an end to the contract that she signed.” Ava’s lawyer spoke.

Ava had summoned the meeting with the boarder the very next morning after the movie premier. 

When she got home, while scrolling through the internet it became clear to Ava that the production is slowly trying to diminish her status and raise a competitor. “It is great that you have summoned this meeting because soon or later we were going to call you” One of the directors speak.

“We held a meeting with the boss yesterday and he has ordered that you should be released from your contract immediately” 

“Wait a minute, you already have this all planned out?” Ava asked, she could not hold back her surprise.

“It was the boss that gave the order and not a decision from us” They said.

Ava was fuming as she sat down.

“Who is this damn boss? I am tired of always being told what to do by a man that almost seem non existent. He doesn’t even know what I have done for his production and now he is sending me away” Ava kept on rambling.

“Miss Ava,,” She paused and look at the directors. “Your contract” They said, pointing to a piece of document on the table.

Ava turned to her lawyer, who picked up the paper and scanned it before handing it over to Ava.

“Your remaining royalties will be paid in the next couple of days” The directors assured.

Ava looked up at their faces. She could tell that they were all sad about the decision by the boss.

More than ever, she almost want to drive a knife down the greedy evil man’s neck.

She picked up her pen and signed the document and threw the paper back to their faces. “I hope your new talent is able to pull the same numbers like me” She hissed and got up to her feet and walked out the room with her lawyer behind her.

While walking through the hallway, she stumbled across Monalisa and Jack together.

“Congratulations on becoming the face of this new production. I certainly hope you can capture the audience like I do” She said and hissed before walking out the door.

Jack erupts into laughter as both he and Monalisa stepped into the board of director’s room. He was excited to see the frustration in the eyes of Ava. “Pride indeed does goes before a fall”.

“Welcome  Miss Monalisa, you may have your seat.” The directors said with an excited smile on their faces.

Jack watched as she is handed the contract. He wanted to bring her through the right protocol as none of the directors knew him.

“We certainly hope that you are capable of filling in the shoes” One of the directors asked.

“She is more than ready” Jack interrupted the directors.
