The Prodigy's Return

CHAPTER 3

“In all my entire career as a director, I have never seen anyone as dedicated as this young lady Monalisa.” Jack was full of smile as the director Joe heaped praises on his newly acquired talent.

It was a risk that he had taken and was glad that it appeared to be yielding great result. 

“Tomorrow the movie will be out and the whole world will see what stuff she is made of” Director Joe revealed.

“Thank you very much Mr. Joe. We are grateful for all the help” 

They shook hands and Joe walked away and drove off from the premises. 

Monalisa had gone to grab her bottle of water and returned to meet Jack, who was full of smiles.

They walked into his vehicle and drove off from the premises.  “You did great today Monalisa” Jack commended as they take a town down the right block in the street.

“I did?” 

“The director was proud of your acting and he is eager to work on more movies with you” Jack said.

“That is quite a huge compliment I must admit” Monalisa said, tearing her eyes away from her phone.

“I am glad you decided to join me” 

“I am going to be honest with you. I did not think you were truly the person you claim to be” Monalisa revealed.

“Why will you say that?”

“Uhmm, everyone expects people of high status to have a specific way of behaving” Monalisa explained. “You look like some random person that no one should care about”

“The truth is, I don’t like the attention from the media. That is why I have always hidden behind the shadows and allowed others to run my empire for me” Jack explained once more.

They arrived at Monalisa’s apartment but before she would get out of the door, Jack stopped her by calling her name.

“There is something I want to discuss with you” He said, taking a huge breath. “Tomorrow is the first premier of this movie and I know tensions are high right now. I just want you  to calm down and believe that you are going places”

Jack’s word served as an encouragement to Monalisa, who has been fighting anxiety since she agreed to take on the role. “Also, on no condition should you reveal my name to anyone. You should simply refer to me as a personal assistant when we are in the public gathering” Jack instructed.

“Very well then. I just hope that the movie turns out to be great” Monalisa finished off and walked out of the car.

As Jack drove away from her apartment, a contented smile showed on his face. It is only a matter of time before Ava realized that she has a competitor coming for her place.

The next day Jack arrived at the movie premier venue with Monalisa. They stumbled across Ava and Mike who has also arrived at the red carpet.

“What are you doing here?” Ava asked, eyeing Jack up and down like he was a pig. She turned her attention to Monalisa. “You shouldn’t be hanging out with poor people like this. I am happy your movie is going to do well, but Jack is a disgrace”

“I am sorry but I will not allow you insult him like that” Monalisa responded right before Ava and Mike tried to leave the red carpet.

“Excuse me?” Ava asked and scoffed. “Just because you secured the biggest role of your career should not make you disrespectful. I have been doing this for the same production for a long time”

“Just let it go Mona” Jack replied, gently holding her hands but Monalisa refused.

“Well I am here to stay and I just want to let you understand that being at the top for you is just temporary, I am coming for your throne in a couple of years to come”

“You are such a rude and mannerless girl. Who even gave you this role” Ava asked looking around and her eyes landed on Director Joe.

“Mr. Joe” She waved and the director approached her.

“Hello Ava, I see you are getting to know Monalisa and her personal assistant” Joe said secretly winking at Jack as he spoke.

Jack had made all his workers sign a non disclosure agreement for no one to speak his name. “How did you take this girl up for a role that is meant for me. She is rude and manner less” Ava complained.

“Ava you need to calm down” Joe explained calmly. “The higher ups found her a perfect fit for the role. I am sure they have something for you too” He assured.

As Joe walked away, Ava and Mike also followed but before she left, Ava marched Jack’s shoes and slapped him right across the face.

“Are you blind?” She asked, pointing to her shoes. “These collection will buy your entire existence” She added.

Monalisa was trying to react, but Jack held her down. He did not want to create more problems as the paparazzi were now focused on them.

When they got away from the red carpet, Jack could see the frown on the face of Monalisa. “You should have allowed me slap her back. That bitch has no right over you” Monalisa spoke loudly.

“Relax Mona. I don’t usually react back in the way you are expecting me to do it” He replied with a smile. “I know what to do to make her frustrated.” 

Jack pulls out his phone and rings Joe the director. “Make sure Ava and Mike are not allowed access into the theatre” He instructed.

“Yes boss, I will inform the security at the gate” 

“From now on, Ava is not going to be taking any role again in my production” Jack added.

“But sir she has a contract that allows her execute her role till it is over” Joe tried to remind Jack.

“That can be handled easily. I just don’t want her securing any role again” Jack replied.

“Alright sir, I am on it.”
