After dinner, Cayden pulled Nicholas aside and thanked him for diffusing the situation with Veronica.

"No problem," Nicholas said with a shrug. "I could tell things were getting tense and I thought changing the subject might help."

Cayden nodded appreciatively. He knew he couldn't let his past issues with Veronica get in the way of his friendship with Nicholas and Nathan.

But as they walked back to the mansion, Cayden couldn't shake off the feeling that something else was brewing beneath the surface. He had heard rumours about Mr Khosrow's recent attacks on Mr Swack's crew, and he knew it was only a matter of time before things came to a head.
