Chapter 2: No more William

Kensington family mansion.

It was the early hours of that evening, Marianne, Bridget, and Sam were sitting in the living room.

It has been almost two hours since William left the house, but Mrs. Marianne refused to drop the act and continued crying while Bridget and Sam continued their facade of calming her down, but it wasn't working as she had an evil plan up her head and she wouldn't stop until she fulfilled that plan.

Just then, they heard the sound of a car driving into the compound.

Soon, they heard footsteps from outside, and then the door was pushed open.

A very beautiful young lady, 23 years old, walked in.

She has beautiful, slick black hair that rests on her shoulder; her face is well-shaped and her blue eyes shine like a diamond.

She has a perfect hourglass figure, one that would make any guy lust after her the moment they set their eyes on her.

She is no other person than Catherine, William's wife.

Catherine looked at the three of them in the sitting room and started walking upstairs without even bothering to ask what was happening.

"S-So it has gotten to this point, huh?" Marianne stood up and stopped her daughter, her voice breaking down like someone who had been crying for several hours as fake tears rolled down her eyes.

Catherine's steps halted, and she turned to look at her mother. Standing beside her was Bridget, glaring furiously at her.

"Gotten to what point, mom? You have been basically ignoring me for over five months; why did you suddenly decide to not ignore me today?" Catherine sighed and asked tiredly.

It wasn't only William who faced the harsh reality after marrying her; she too faced the crazy drama from her mother.

She won't stop asking her to divorce William and accept the proposal of a young millionaire who wanted to sleep with her before signing a contract that would make her company boom.

As a woman with standards, Catherine rejected it immediately and blocked all contacts with the young millionaire.

But he wasn't having it; he went on to gift Marianne half a million dollars and ask her to plead with Catherine on his behalf.

"I wouldn't ignore you if you hadn't rejected such an enticing offer from that young, handsome, successful millionaire *sob*." Marianne scoffed harshly as she broke down into a second round of tears again. "My own daughter is treating me, her mother like trash can...." Her tone filled with pain as she sat down on the floor, continuing with the childish crying.

Catherine hissed inwardly, "Mom, if it is about that offer, please, you can go on ignoring me; I won't sacrifice my marriage and dignity for my business."

"Stop acting like a saint, you b*tch. You lost your dignity the day you decided to open your legs for that smelly bastard." Bridget chimed in aggressively.

Hearing that, Catherine immediately recalled a painful moment of her life.

That day, William drove her home after a hectic day at work. At that time, they were dating.

She invited him to the house and offered him juice that both of them drank, not knowing that some strange aphrodisiac was added to it.

After they drank it, both of them lost themselves to the lust that grew in them and started doing the needful to calm it down.

They hadn't even started when some members of the Goldstone family walked in to catch them in the act.

The Goldstone family is the family that wanted to sign a deal with their family business; not only that, but the heir of that family was interested in Catherine.

But after that incident, the deal was cut off, and Catherine lost her pure image.

Recalling such a painful event, Catherine turned to Bridget, who has been at the top of her suspect list since the day the event took place.

"At least I did it with my boyfriend. We were already planning to get married after all, unlike someone who goes out with different men every day, and yet no one is interested in marrying a b*tch like her." She smirked with a harsh remark.

Hearing the statement, Bridget felt a painful sensation flushing down her body as the words caused her to keep shut and rethink properly about her life.

Sam was calmly watching the scene play between the three and roared out when he heard the harsh remark made to Bridget by Catherine. He couldn't keep his cool any longer, "WTF... How dare you talk to my wo....."

She didn't allow him to complete his statement before cutting him off. "Shut the f*CK up. Who do you think you are to talk at me, you lowly bastard? You think I don't know your agenda, you're just after her body and nothing else.." Catherine faced Sam, attacking him with her words, and even took the chance to talk about why he was after Bridget. "You can't be compared to William; better back off and don't dare open your stinky mouth to me next time."

Sam immediately kept his mouth shut with an embarrassed expression on his face as he tried to hide his face, looking down at the floor. He had never been insulted in such a manner in his entire life.

Catherine turned to Marianne, not minding the painful expression on Bridget's face. "Mom, it has been quite a hectic day, don't make it worse for me, please."

With that word, she went upstairs, leaving everyone in shock.

"Honey," On getting to their room, she happily called out as she gently pushed open the door.

There was no response, which she found strange. Normally,  William will always be the first to rush down to her and then give her a welcome kiss, but today was an exception.

"Honey!" She kept her bag and then began to search around, but there wasn't a sign of William around.

'Weird, where is William?' She was confused when she didn't see her husband anywhere.

She went into the inner room, but he wasn't there. "Maybe he went out to get something," she concluded in her heart.

However, when she took off her shoe to return it to its position in the rack, she saw a note on the ground.

«"I'm sorry, but I have to leave.. WILLIAM"»

After reading what was written, her eyes widened, and soon tears started to fall from them.

'The only person I want in my life is you, William. I don't care if you were rich, poor, or anything.' She squeezed the letter and started crying.

'Maybe this is just a plot by Bridget and mother.' She stormed out of the room downstairs.

Sam has embarrassedly left hurrily; now it was only Bridget and Marianne in the living room.

"Mom, where is William?" She confronted.

Marianne snorted, "That is what I was trying to tell you, but you decided to leave instead of listen."

"Mom, stop the drama. I asked a question, and that question deserves an answer. Where is William!" She yelled impatiently.

"William said he doesn't want the marriage anymore; he is leaving you because he has found another cash cow to milk for money." Marianne lied with a serious expression on her face.

Catherine knew William more than anyone, and he was nothing like that, so she didn't believe that.

"Mom, stop making things up, you and I know that William can never do such." She shakes her head in disagreement.

She continuously shakes her head, refusing to believe.

"Who said he can't? Did you really think such a lazy and greedy bastard really loved you? He only married you because of your money, and now that he doesn't have a chance to get his hands on the money, he left; he divorced you." Marianne lied even more.

Bridget, understanding her mother, decided to back her up.

"Not just that, he caused a tantrum and started beating mom, it is only because of Sam that mom is alive."

Catherine stared at her sister, refusing to believe that the William she knew was nothing like that.

"Oh, I see. So you're going to continue to believe him and defend him, now I understand what's going on" "He has bewitched you, that is it." Marianne exclaimed in a shocking voice.

Bridget and Marianne fed her more lies, they told her that William even went ahead to steal some money before leaving.

They were trying to brainwash her to hate William.

They told her that he wanted a divorce, which is why he left.

Catherine stood on the spot, frozen.

Everything was too hard to digest.

She placed her hands on her stomach, 'William, I was saving this news for today, it was supposed to be the day you know, but why... Why didn't you wait'? She felt pain.

'Even if you wanted a divorce, you should have confided in me; if I was wrong, I would have changed my ways.'

Her heart felt heavy all of a sudden.

She felt lonely and empty now that she had heard those words. She couldn't believe that William left her, as he was still doubtful of the words spoken to her by her mom and Bridget.

With tears already welling up in her eyes, she found her way upstairs to her room as she felt her heart broken.

Bridget and Marianne secretly looked at each other, then gave themselves a thumbs up for Job Welldon.
