Miss Anna Mendes
Anna Mendes?
Muttering the name repeatedly in his mind, Tyson grew more certain that he had never heard of anyone by that name before.
So he asked the system, “Who is she? I don’t know her.”
[It’s natural that you don’t. Less than two years ago, Anna Mendes had just returned to this country after living in Urdanica since she was ten years old.]
Tyson nodded in understanding.
[I’ll send you Anna Mendes’s data details. Don’t forget to review them.]
“Okay, thanks. I’ll sleep first.”
Before the system could respond, Tyson had already closed his eyes and fallen asleep. In his dreams, he saw that this world wasn’t truly made for him , that he had merely been found by the system by coincidence and given a second chance.
That, in truth, he had died on that gallows, and not a single member of his family had come to claim his body, so he was buried in some random graveyard.
The dream was terrifying enough to wake him drenched in sweat.
“Thankfully, it was only a dream,” he muttered to the now-inactive system.
During breakfast, Tyson checked the information on Anna Mendes that the system had prepared on his phone. He read carefully and found the girl to be quite intriguing.
Anna Mendes was the second child of the Mendes family. She had a twin sister who was often sick, so since childhood, Anna hadn’t received much attention , though her situation was still far better than Tyson’s, who had been completely neglected.
Because of that, Anna developed a rebellious and hard-to-control personality, which overwhelmed her parents and led them to send her to Mrs. Madeline Mendes’s parents , Anna’s grandparents , who lived in Urdanica. Only after graduating from college did the girl return to the country.
Tyson went through each of Anna’s “notable deeds” from her two years back in the country and sighed softly.
“This girl is something else,” he commented. Still, he found himself admiring her.
After all, what Anna had done were things he never had the courage to do in the past. Tyson felt that with the person he had become now, he could handle , even support , a girl like her. Troublesome, yes, but definitely challenging.
On the weekend night, Tyson went to Paradise Bar as instructed by the system, which had told him that Anna would be there at that time.
He dressed up that night, making himself look attractive and mature. Even if he didn’t have much money, with his appearance, no one would doubt the weight of his wallet.
He ordered a taxi and headed straight for Paradise Bar.
It was around 10 p.m. when Tyson arrived. He summoned his system and asked, “Where can I find her?”
The system didn’t respond right away, forcing him to go inside and look for her himself. He ordered a drink, occasionally glancing around to catch a glimpse of a face that might seem both familiar and strange.
Anna was nowhere to be seen, so Tyson assumed she hadn’t arrived yet. He decided to wait, passing the time by chatting with the bartender now and then.
Nearly an hour passed, yet the person he was looking for still hadn’t appeared. Just as boredom began to creep in, a commotion erupted on the bar’s second floor.
“There’s a fight upstairs!” a woman shouted to one of the security guards.
Tyson glanced up briefly before dismissing it.
At that moment, the system suddenly activated.
[Anna Mendes has been on the second floor since 7:00 p.m. tonight.]
Tyson’s expression turned unreadable. Seven p.m. was when the bar opened. For a 23-year-old woman to show up that early was… unexpected.
That was his only thought as he stood up and made his way to the second floor.
Just as the woman had said, there really was a fight breaking out there. Tyson only wanted to find Anna and had no interest in getting involved, but the person he was looking for happened to be right in the middle of it.
At that moment, Tyson didn’t know how to react. He frowned in frustration but could do nothing about it. He needed this girl.
The security guards and several staff members could only watch helplessly as the two large men brawled. After all, both of them had backgrounds that weren’t to be trifled with.
Meanwhile, the drunken Anna seemed to be the prize they were fighting over.
Without hesitation, Tyson approached the trio. One of the men, a tall, muscular brute, was trying to pull Anna closer, while the other, a slick-haired, skinny man, blocked Tyson’s path.
“Hey, what’s going on here?” Tyson’s voice was calm but firm, drawing both men’s attention.
“Stay out of this, buddy. Know your place,” the muscular man growled, tightening his grip on Anna’s arm.
“I don’t think the lady wants to stay,” Tyson replied, stepping closer. His sharp gaze met the man’s without a hint of fear.
The skinny man sneered, though there was a flicker of unease in his tone. “Mind your own business!”
Tyson ignored them and moved in to take Anna from their grasp, but of course, he was blocked. A fight became inevitable, especially since both men were drunk.
The muscular man, angered by his companion’s refusal to back down and by Tyson’s boldness, swung the first punch.
Naturally, Tyson wasn’t some helpless pushover, he countered with an even harder hit. Despite being outnumbered, he stayed remarkably composed throughout the fight.
Amid the chaos, the skinny man shoved Anna, causing her to stumble forward. She would have slammed her head on the table if Tyson hadn’t caught her just in time, pulling her into his arms.
The sudden contact jolted Anna slightly awake, but she’d been drugged, her body felt heavy and unresponsive. She lifted her hand to cling to Tyson’s neck, her hazy eyes alluring and unfocused.
The atmosphere grew dangerously intimate, until a voice cut through it.
A man, a police officer disguised as an ordinary customer, stepped forward, gun in hand.
“Tsk,” he said coldly, “looks like you’re still more comfortable behind bars.”

“My Lovely Family, I’m Back!”“You got an invitation to Lady De Leon’s birthday party, didn’t you?” Tyson asked, his tone serious. He had already prepared all kinds of explanations in case Anna questioned him about anything. More than anyone, he understood how difficult it was to get into an event hosted by the De Leon family. In this city, the De Leons stood at the very top. Countless people tried to curry favor with them, doing whatever they could to attend their gatherings, of course, all for the sake of building connections. None of those people would ever be foolish enough to bring some random stranger along. However, Anna’s reaction was surprisingly calm. She simply nodded and said, “Okay.”Faced with that nonchalant attitude, Tyson felt… unsettled. He studied the girl in front of him carefully.Sensing his gaze, Anna continued, “It’s just a birthday party. Bringing you along isn’t a big deal.”Honestly, her lack of suspicion made Tyson feel a little guilty. After all, he was u

The AgreementThe moment that voice rang out, everyone who heard it showed a look of surprise. After all, ex-convicts always carried a certain air of intimidation to ordinary people.Fortunately, no one seemed to recognize the name the undercover officer had mentioned.“Causing a scene and getting into a fight just days after being released, seems like you missed prison life,” the officer sneered.Tyson glanced at him indifferently and replied with a half-smile that wasn’t really a smile. “If you’d done your job properly, I wouldn’t have had to step in and save a woman from being assaulted.”“Tsk.” The officer clicked his tongue in irritation. He didn’t want to argue further with Tyson. Despite everything, he still had enough sense to know right from wrong, and besides, Tyson’s current status was rather… complicated.Indeed, ever since his release a few days ago, Tyson had been quietly helping the police uncover several hidden plots related to items found in their investigations.Just

The Storm Within the Calm“Mr. Frederick, why do you think I would accept your offer? After all, I’m still in prison.”Kindness without reason , even if the other party offered a condition , was something Tyson could not accept. Not to mention, this was someone who had once wanted him dead, someone connected to his own family, the De Leons.Although Tyson had no intention of keeping his eventual release from this place a secret, that didn’t mean he wanted outsiders to know too early and prepare for it.Indeed, Tyson wasn’t sure what his family would do if they found out he was being aided by the commissioner general and would soon be freed , which meant slipping out of their grasp.Big Boss clearly understood his mindset, so he explained, “I’m just trying my luck. Don’t worry, I have nothing to do with your family.”Tyson merely responded with a mocking smile. “I don’t care whether you’re connected to them or not. But let me make one thing clear , even if the warden’s downfall is rela

Not long after Tyson was sent back to his cell, the warden came to see the commissioner general. At this moment, the commissioner general still hadn’t gotten over his earlier conversation with Tyson. Although he had made a promise, he needed to weigh the pros and cons before taking any action.Coincidentally, the warden arrived right then. The commissioner general looked at him without revealing anything. He only responded to the greeting with indifference.“Commissioner General, how did your conversation with Tyson go? Was what he said true?”Instead of answering directly, the commissioner general replied with a hint of sarcasm, “If it wasn’t, why would I have bothered to see him?”“Ah, right… of course,” the warden replied awkwardly. Not wanting to linger any longer, the commissioner general stood up and walked out. Before leaving, he glanced at the warden with a faint warning and said, “This is classified. Don’t let any outsiders find out. As for Tyson, he’s crucial for the ongoing

A few days later, the Commissioner General of Police finally came to meet Tyson. It seemed that this case was indeed very serious.Tyson smiled satisfactorily, he hadn't taken on the wrong case. The chief warden personally came to fetch him, happiness radiating from his expression. He said to Tyson, "Come on, the Commissioner General has been waiting for you."Tyson followed without saying a word."Remember to mention my name and involve me in it," the chief warden added.Only then did Tyson speak up, "Of course."He wondered how he could not involve this corrupt chief warden. As for how it would end, Tyson could only smirk. No wonder his career ended here, this person was quite foolish. In the closed and secretive room where not even a mosquito dared to enter, the Commissioner General of Police sat upright, awaiting his arrival.Upon seeing Tyson walking behind the chief warden, a slight crack appeared in the Commissioner's composed and stern expression. He certainly doubted the man,
