Chapter 3

The sky above Lin Jiang seemed to collapse the moment he heard the choice given by his own father.

Die... or leave.

It was an impossible decision for an eleven-year-old boy.

"That's enough!" Wen Jiang shouted as she snatched the knife from Lin Jiang's trembling hand.

"Come inside, Lin Jiang," she said gently, supporting his still-weakened body as she helped him back to his room.

"I'll give you three days," Patriarch Jiang roared before turning away from the room outside Lin Jiang's chamber. "If you're still in this house after that, I'll kill you myself!"

Lin Jiang's body trembled at his father's words. It was a change he had never imagined would happen.

"Mother... why has everything become like this?" he asked softly.

Wen Jiang smiled warmly at her son. A mother's love would never fade, no matter what happened.

"Your father is only speaking in anger, Lin Jiang. Don't take his words to heart. He still loves you."

"No," Lin Jiang replied bitterly. "He only loved me because I was talented."

"Don't say such things. Your father truly loves you."

"That's not true. If he really loved me, he would never drive me away."

The burden was far too heavy for an eleven-year-old child to bear.

"Get some rest first," Wen Jiang said gently. "After that, we'll find a way to help you become the Lin Jiang you once were."

"Yes, Mother... thank you."

After comforting him, Wen Jiang quietly left the room, leaving Lin Jiang alone with his overwhelming despair.

Everything had changed. Overnight, he had become nothing more than worthless trash in the eyes of the city.

"Why... why did this happen?" Lin Jiang muttered to himself.

Before his dantian was destroyed, he had already reached the Spirit Foundation Realm at only eleven years old.

"Why did it have to end like this?" Lin Jiang whispered with endless regret written across his face.

Three days passed, yet Lin Jiang had still not fully recovered. The injuries caused by the massive explosion were simply too severe.

"How are you feeling, Little Brother Lin?" a familiar voice asked.

Lin Jiang turned around and saw his older brother, Sui Jiang.

"Brother Sui..."

He forced a faint smile.

Sui Jiang sat beside the bed and smiled warmly.

"I'm sorry for losing my temper the other day."

"You did nothing wrong. This is simply my fate."

"Don't look so depressed. How about we go for a walk outside the city?"

"But Brother... I'm still injured."

"You have me with you. Come on."

"Alright."

The two brothers left the Jiang family's grand residence in Linjiang City, home to one of the city's most influential families.

As they walked out, Ning Jiang noticed them and frowned.

It was unusual for Sui Jiang to invite Lin Jiang outside.

"What is Brother Sui planning?" she murmured.

However, the nine-year-old girl quickly dismissed the thought.

"Brother Sui must be trying to cheer Brother Lin up," she said with an innocent smile.

The two brothers wandered through the streets of Linjiang City.

Everywhere they went, insults rained down upon Lin Jiang.

"Hey, trash! Why are you even here? Why don't you just die?" someone shouted.

Lin Jiang lowered his head without saying a word.

He had expected this.

Sooner or later, everyone would treat him this way.

"I know those words are hurting you," Sui Jiang said. "How about we leave the city?"

"Where are we going, Brother?"

"Just follow me. I'll take you somewhere that will free you from all your suffering."

"Alright."

Touched by his brother's seemingly kind words, Lin Jiang followed without hesitation.

They left Linjiang City and entered the nearby forest.

However, instead of stopping, they ventured deeper and deeper into the woods until Lin Jiang became uneasy.

"Brother Sui... where are we going?"

"Tsk. You're as talkative as a girl. Just keep following me, you piece of trash!" Sui Jiang sneered.

"What do you mean?"

"Stop asking questions!"

Sui Jiang suddenly grabbed Lin Jiang's arm and dragged him forward by force.

"I'm your younger brother! What are you trying to do?"

"Shut up! Father ordered this. You have to die. You're nothing but a disgrace to the Jiang family!"

"Impossible..."

"Hahaha! You fool! The moment you lost your talent, you became completely worthless to the Jiang family!"

Sui Jiang dragged Lin Jiang forward despite his desperate struggles.

"Let me go!"

But without his cultivation, Lin Jiang was powerless.

He had no choice but to be dragged along.

Eventually, they arrived at the edge of the most feared place in all of Linjiang City—

The Abyss of Death.

"Do you remember what I told you?" Sui Jiang said with a cold smile. "I promised to take you somewhere that would end all your suffering."

"Don't tell me... you're going to kill me?"

"That's exactly what we're here to do."

A voice suddenly echoed from behind the trees.

More than a dozen boys, all around Sui Jiang's age, emerged one after another, each wearing a cruel smile as they stared at Lin Jiang.

"Sui Jiang, are you really handing your little brother over to us?"

"Yes. Beat him first... then throw him into the Abyss of Death."

"Hahaha! I've wanted revenge on him for a long time!"

Bam!

A heavy punch slammed into Lin Jiang's stomach, causing unbearable pain.

Then came another.

And another.

Soon, more than a dozen boys surrounded him, beating him mercilessly until his small body was covered in blood.

"Is he dead?" Sui Jiang asked as he looked at Lin Jiang's motionless body lying on the ground.

"Who cares? You're the one who asked us to do this."

"Enough. Throw him into the abyss."

"As you wish."

Bang!

A powerful kick sent Lin Jiang's battered body flying into the Abyss of Death.

"Farewell..."

"Enjoy your journey to hell," Sui Jiang said with a cruel grin.
