After leaving Hong Lao under the tree, Chen Nian planned to climb the hill and observe from above the entrance that Elder Hong Jandi and Hong Gui had talked about.

However, he gave up the plan when he saw a pack of thunder wolves coming in great numbers.

Immediately, Chen Nian turned back and ran. “Young Master Hong, quickly inform the others, thunder wolves are coming this way!”

Hong Lao, who was about to doze off, was suddenly startled by someone’s shout. He looked at Chen Nian and immediately stood up without questioning the truth of his words, as he already understood a little about the young man’s character.

“Elder Jandi, we have guests!” shouted Hong Lao as he leaped forward, a single powerful leap covering a hundred meters.

Chen Nian followed and landed not far from the elders, who were now talking to Hong Lao and listening to what he said.

“What kind of guest, young master, that makes you look so worried?”

“My brother here said that a pack of thunder wolves is coming this way. We must prepare, don’t let anyone become a victim!” explained Hong Lao.

Jandi looked at Chen Nian and asked, “Are you certain?”

“Yes, elder, I estimate there are dozens of thunder wolves heading this way!”

“Hmm, this is good news. Those wolves will lead us to the underground passage. Let’s hide!”

Everyone leapt up into the large tree, vaulting their bodies and holding their breath on the branches.

But wolves’ sense of smell was extremely sharp, they could recognize the scent of humans nearby.

Growls were heard as they appeared.

“They’re only level-three wolves, but since their pack numbers in the dozens, perhaps reaching a hundred, it’s the same as fighting a level-six beast. If they detect us, this will be difficult!” Hong Gui whispered softly to Hong Ba, who was beside him.

Hong Ba replied, “Make sure not to involve the juniors, especially the young master. We must protect them, no matter what happens!”

“It seems difficult to realize all that, because we cannot fight and protect everyone at once, when the enemy overwhelms us in numbers,” Hong Gui said again, shaking his head helplessly at the current reality. “I feel guilty for not forbidding the young master from joining this treasure hunt.”

“What’s done is done, we cannot regret it too much. What matters now is that we get the treasure and also survive this wolf pack.”

The pack of wolves gathered more and more around a huge tree. A passage was revealed when several wolves removed the covering that blocked the entrance with their two hands.

One by one they entered, leaving ten wolves standing guard.

After a few breaths, Hong Jandi descended and immediately swung the sword in his hand.

Slash! One unprepared wolf was struck, but it was only a shallow wound at the base of its neck. Hong Jandi’s plan had been to behead it, but the surge of lightning from the wolf’s horn lashed at his arm, making his sword tremble and weakening its inner energy.

Now he was attacked by the ten wolves, each releasing lightning that formed a ball, which they hurled at Hong Jandi’s body.

Boom! Hong Jandi managed to dodge, though he was still thrown back by the explosion’s force. But before hitting the ground, his body was caught by Hong Ba.

“How are you!?”

“The scale of their lightning isn’t too big, but if they combine it again like before, the effect will be tremendous. We must be careful! Don’t let them form the lightning ball and throw it!” replied Hong Jandi, seeing his right hand still trembling from the shock.

Hong Gui descended to strike the thunder wolves as they were combining their power again, stronger than before. But before he could extend his sword, an attack struck his back. One wolf leapt out from inside the large tree, pouncing on the unsuspecting Hong Gui.

Crash! His body slammed into rocks and rolled. A huge tear appeared on Hong Gui’s back, and without immediate treatment, he would die.

Hong Ba darted toward Hong Gui, who was about to be mauled again, but the huge wolf’s body also lunged toward him with its jaws wide open. Hong Ba thrust his sword straight through its skull. The wolf died instantly.

Hong Ba glanced toward Hong Gui’s position and felt relief when he saw Nian standing there, having saved his brother.

Nine wolves remained, but now one wolf raised its head, preparing to howl, perhaps to inform the others about the deaths of two among them.

“Young master, hide yourself!” Hong Jandi warned. “The rest of you, do not descend. This is dangerous!” He cast a stern look at the other juniors.

As the one in charge, Hong Jandi had the authority to command them.

Everyone, including Hong Lao, dared not disobey his orders, as they knew the consequences. Death could be the price.

Chen Nian moved swiftly toward the wolf that was about to howl. His movements were as fast as lightning, using the micro step to attack while escaping the encirclement.

Slash, slash, slash. Three fell.

“Lightning Sword!” he murmured again. He moved swiftly, and before the wolves’ lightning could form into a ball, Chen Nian had already eliminated the remaining six.

All eyes were stunned by his prowess.

Chen Nian sheathed his sword. “Let’s go inside!” he said and immediately entered without waiting for or seeking approval from the Hong Clan members.

“You all wait here, I will accompany that young man,” Hong Ba suggested.

Jandi thought it wasn’t the best idea, but before he could say anything, Hong Ba had already darted off.

“We’ll stand guard here. Once it’s safe, we’ll enter,” said Hong Lao.

“Yes, young master!” replied the remaining people.

“Let’s prepare traps for the wolf pack, in case Elder Hong Ba and Nian don’t return,” Jandi then organized everyone to make traps.

Meanwhile, inside the passage that grew larger and larger, the two of them walked side by side. If before, when they entered, they had to bend their backs, now they could walk with heads held upright.

“Be careful, uncle. There may be a king or queen of the wolf pack inside,” Chen Nian had already drawn his sword again.

“Alright, young man!” Hong Ba replied respectfully. I wonder what kind of training this young man has undergone to become so strong, even his muscular body shows he’s endured harsh physical training. And who is his teacher, what’s his name? Hong Ba was still thinking about this when his body brushed against Chen Nian’s shoulder.

“What are you thinking, uncle!” Chen Nian asked. “Focus, we are already surrounded by wolves!”

“Forgive me! What should we do?”

“Follow my lead!” Chen Nian moved using micro steps.

Previously, Jie Qian had intended to discuss business with these two men. But the matter had been disrupted due to the lack of a proper venue.“We can talk at the inn instead, Prince Jie. But have you prepared the conditions we requested?” one of them asked.“Rest assured. Everything you asked for has been prepared. Once we reach an agreement, it can all be handed over,” Prince Jie replied, leading the two men who wore bamboo hats to conceal their identities. It didn’t take long to find an inn. A large establishment stood not far from the Sandalwood Pavilion. With his status as a Prince of the Jie Empire, booking a place was effortless. The inn also offered entertainment. Jie Qian chose to bring the two men to the VIP section.“Prince Jie, I’m delighted by your visit. Would Your Highness like to order some women?” a madam approached, speaking casually. In that place, everyone who entered was a customer—but customers were treated according to status. A Prince rarely visited such establ

“Hahaha… Your Highness is still too young to sneer. We’re finished here anyway. Please, enjoy the room,” Kang Kung said to Jie Qian. Then he glanced at Chen Nian and added, “Young Master, it seems our gathering has been disturbed again. There are indeed many clever people in this Empire.”He shot a sideways look at Jie Qian—the word clever clearly laced with sarcasm, implying someone skilled only in twisting words.Chen Nian merely nodded and followed Kang Kung toward the exit.“Stop right there!” Jie Qian shouted without turning his head. There was no way he would let this end so easily. “Apologize to me—kneel!” he roared again. His shout drew more people closer. After all, who wouldn’t be curious about a free spectacle? They watched cautiously from a distance. If a fight broke out, they did not want to be caught in the aftermath. From afar, at least, they could still flee. The two men continued to ignore him and walked toward the exit. The crowd that had gathered instinctively parte

No one dared to speak, comment, or even breathe too loudly.A servant lay sprawled on the floor after being struck by that figure. Although the blow had not carried full force, blood still trickled from the corner of his mouth, and a vivid red imprint of five fingers was stamped across his face.He did not even dare cry out in pain, for the one who struck him was a person deeply respected within the Jie Empire.Jie Qian said coldly, “I already told you, I don’t care about those rules. I’m hosting guests, and you will prepare the place.” His tone was domineering and aggressive. He always acted according to his own will—but who would dare offend him? The servant had only been following orders from his superior and was equally helpless. “Quickly inform the owner of Sandalwood Pavilion that I, Jie Qian, want that private room.”The manager, who had been watching from afar, did not dare approach. “Uncle Kang, let’s go. We have no business with them. Keep your dignity—don’t lower yourself before a dog that likes to lick boots!”Chen Nian’s harsh words were clearly aimed at Chen Dunrui.“We should fill our stomachs instead. Come, Young Master. I’ll take you to a restaurant famous for its delicious cuisine!” Kang Kung smoothly played the role of guide, since he had already claimed that Chen Nian came from another empire. The two tacitly agreed to maintain this act. It would be impossible for others to quickly verify Chen Nian’s origins. In truth, even Kang Kung himself did not know which empire Chen Nian came from. Given the urgency of the situation, he had fabricated the story that Chen Nian hailed from the Jing Empire and possessed high status—hence addressing him as “Young Master.”Watching them leave, Chen Dunrui felt the veins on his forehead bulge, anger throbbing painfully within him. He had come to corner Kang Kung, yet he was completely ignored. It was utterly humiliatin

Let alone two wishes—even more can be granted, within the scope of authority I can command,” Soe Shuwan replied.“I am currently staying with the Kang Clan, and the Kang Clan was destroyed by a tragedy. I do not ask for the clan to be restored. I only request that Kang Zhangsun be released and cleared of the accusations against him.”“I can arrange his release. He immediately denied it. “Is there any proof that we made a wager?”“What a shameless man!” Kang Kung snapped from behind, furious at such blatant denial. If even his own words could not be trusted, then what could possibly be believed from someone like him?“I don’t care whether you admit it or not. In front of me, the wager stands!” Chen Nian’s hand shot out with terrifying speed. Before anyone could react, his arm had already pierced through Chen Chengdu’s heart.Only a choking cough mixed with blood escaped Chen Chengdu’s mouth. He likely never im
