“A worthless piece of trash like you,” Tracy sneered, “could drive day and night for thousands of years and still never make any real money.”

Then her eyes gleamed with greedy triumph as she looked at Adam, not like a person, but like a prize.

“You’re useless while you’re alive,” she continued coldly, “but once you’re dead, you’ll be worth millions.”

“Didn’t you always say you wanted me to live a good life?” she smiled, sweet and poisonous, “Well then, isn’t this the perfect opportunity?”

“Once you’re gone, every dollar will be mine,” she said, tilting his head, her voice tinged with delight, “and I’ll finally live that good life you promised.”

As if struck by a dream coming true, a smug smile spread across Tracy’s face.

She turned her head to the man behind her.

“Do you know who the man beside me is?” she asked.

“The eldest young master of the Max family,” introduced proudly, smiling up at the man. “Luca Max.”

“You know what?” she added casually, but her tone was full of anticipation and pride, “I’m already pregnant with Luca’s child. Once you’re dead, I can marry him openly, and become the young madam of the Max family.”

Tracy spoke with open anticipation, her gaze toward Luca filled with tenderness and affection.

But when she side-glanced at Adam, the look in her eyes was undisguised disgust.

Adam felt as if he’d been struck by thunder.

Rage flooded his face, hot, helpless, and consuming.

Of course, he’d heard of the Max family,  was one of the Vancouver city’s eight most powerful clans, rich and influential beyond measure.

And Luca Max? The eldest son of the Max family, was young, wealthy, and highly sought after.

But Adam had never imagined that his own wife would be one of Luca’s pursuers, let alone that she would actually act on it... and succeed!

Adam remembered how desperately he had wanted a baby.

Yet every time he brought it up, Tracy would stall with excuses, or worse, mock him, sneering that he could barely support himself, let alone a child.

Even worse…..she had gotten pregnant once before and ended it without ever telling him.

Now that he thought about it, there was no guarantee that child had even been his.

How fucking ironic!

Rage nearly burned away Adam’s reason, his eyes like those of a beast ready to devour its prey.

Yet trapped in a high-level paralysis, his body couldn’t move an inch.

Just then, Luca’s voice cut through the room, low and mocking.

“Honey, I suddenly feel like doing something a little more thrilling.”

Pulling Tracy closer, his hand climbed up, squeezing Tracy’s breast slowly. A playful smile curled on his lips as he looked straight at Adam.

In truth, it was Tracy who had seduced him first.

At the beginning, Luca had only planned to toy casually with a woman like her, curvy, experienced, nothing more than a temporary amusement.

But then Tracy became pregnant, and everything changed.

That child could secure his claim to the Max family inheritance.

Which meant one thing: he had to help Tracy get rid of her crippled husband, and make sure no one ever dug up her past.

Otherwise, if the eldest son of the Max family married a twice-married woman with a messy history and humble origins, he would become the biggest joke in the entire city.

Tracy didn’t understand at first.

”What thrilling?”

The corner of Luca’s mouth lifted, his tone openly taunting.

“Tell me, if your husband watches us fuck here and now, do you think he’ll die with his eyes wide open?”

Clearly entertained by the idea, he added with a fainting, mocking smile, “Consider it our little goodbye gift.”

Agatha sat in her study, the curtains drawn, the lights low. A single lamp burned on her desk, casting long shadows across the walls. She stared at the photograph in her hands. Olivia. Don. Thomas, her husband. The man she had married for his name and his company. The man she had never loved. She set the photograph down, picked up her phone, dialed. The voice on the other end was low, careful. "Yes?""I need you to find something for me. A document. Thomas left it for Olivia. I don't know what it is, but she has it. Hidden somewhere."A pause. "Alright, I will get it to it.”She ended the call, set the phone down, picked up the photograph again. Thomas's face smiled at her from the frame. "You should have given me what I wanted," she whispered. "The company, the control, the power. Instead, you gave it to her. Your precious Olivia."She let out a hiss. “You thought you were smart enough!”She set the photograph down, stood, walked to the window. The city spread below her, dark and

"What's the difference?"Adam stood, walked to the window, stared out at the dark city. "If I expose her now, she'll fight back. She'll lawyer up. She'll drag this out for years. She might even walk away."He turned, looked at Kai. "But if I wait until after she loses the company. After the board votes her down. After she has nothing left to fight with. Then I reveal who she really is. Then I destroy her."Kai nodded slowly. "You want her to lose everything first.""I want her to watch it happen. I want her to know that she lost because of me. Because of Olivia. Because of the people she tried to destroy." Adam walked back to the table, sat down. "Keep gathering evidence. Everything you can find. The village. The plant. The people who died. I want it all."Kai opened his laptop, his fingers

Her eyes were sharp, cold. "And?"Don's throat was dry, his hands were shaking. He forced them still."She has nothing. No plan or allies." He paused. "She's just... waiting."Agatha set her glass down, stood, walked to him. Her heels clicked on the floor. Her shadow fell across his face."Waiting for what?"Don looked up at her."I don't know." Don's jaw tightened. "The company is doing well. Profits are up, and all thanks to her. So I think that’s what she’s holding on to."Agatha's hand shot out, grabbed his chin, forced his face up.
