ATTEMPTED SUICIDE

Alexander's face was contorted with anger and hurt as he stared at his wife, Emily. He had never felt so betrayed in his life, and his heart was pounding with rage. "How could you do this to me?" he spat out, his voice thick with emotion. "After everything i've done for you, you still do something like this?"

But instead of shrinking back in fear or remorse, Emily met his gaze with equal intensity, her own eyes blazing with fury. "What have you done for me?" she shot back, her voice trembling with anger. "You think just because married me, that means you own me? That you can control my every move?"

Even though she had a strong suspicion that the young man in the room with her had intentionally arranged this situation, she no longer felt concerned as she knew that she had already been exposed.

Alexander's mouth opened in protest, but Emily cut him off with a bitter laugh. "You don't even know what suffering is," she said, her voice dripping with bitterness. "Thanks to you, I'm a laughingstock. My family treats me as garbage and all my friends have deserted me. I'm nothing but a shame in this city, and it's all because of you."

She looked at him and spat on his face. At the side, the young man was smiling.

"And what about grandpa?" she spoke out. "How many times did I have to refute him, just because of you? And what did that get me? More suffering, that's it. You're nothing but a waste, Alexander. A waste of time, money, and emotions."

With that, she turned on her heels and stormed out of the room, leaving Alexander and the young man she was with standing there in stunned silence.

The young man's face was adorned with a happy expression, it was evident that his plan had been a success. Alexander, on the other hand, wore a gloomy look, although he was not quite certain who the jubilant young man was, a suspicion had crept into his mind. Prior to his marriage to Emily, there were several men vying for her affections, and among them was Ethan Blackwell, the young scion of the Blackwell family, who left a disturbing impression on Alexander. He was a typical wealthy playboy, who had never experienced any troubles in life. He didn't have to work for his money, and his sole occupation was spending it on frivolous activities, coupled with a penchant for changing women like he would his clothes on a daily basis.

"Are you Ethan Blackwell?" Alexander asked while facing him.

Ethan still clad in his towel smiled as he responded, "Oh you know me?? That's perfect, there's no need for me to do an introduction. So how was the drama just now. The only part that saddens me was you couldn't get to see your wife and I doing things in the room."

Alexander was seething with anger as he stood face-to-face with the man who had been sleeping with his wife. The mere sight of Ethan was enough to make his blood boil. Ethan's casual demeanor only added fuel to the fire.

His emotions were running high, and as he listened to Ethan's words, his anger grew even more intense. The fact that he had caught his wife cheating on him was already a devastating blow, but discovering that she had been unfaithful with someone he loathed and who his wife had previously claimed to hate was almost too much to bear.

Ethan appeared unfazed by the anger etched on Alexander's face, and instead of backing down, he continued to spout nonsense. In response to Ethan's relentless blabbering, Alexander grabbed the package he was holding and flung it towards Ethan before storming out.

As Ethan dodged the package, he couldn't resist taunting Alexander, "Oh! I'm sensing a hint of doubt."

He added fuel to the fire by hitting the play button on a tape in his pocket.

Alexander's movements came to an abrupt halt as he heard the contents of the tape. The voice that echoed through the speakers belonged to none other than his beloved wife. His mind was clouded with disbelief and confusion, yet the recording had provided undeniable evidence of her infidelity. A sense of anger and sadness washed over him, causing him to pause and process the revelation.

Initially, Alexander had a hint of doubt that maybe they were just there and nothing had happened. However, the recording had further confirmed everything that he had feared. He was on the verge of losing his sanity as he struggled to comprehend the betrayal of his wife. The emotions building up inside of him were overwhelming, causing tears to form in his eyes.

The fury he felt was enough to make him forget all consequences, and he was about to rush towards Ethan in a fit of rage. However, before he could act on his impulses, a group of security men who had been arranged by Ethan quickly intervened. They took him down and dragged him to the entrance of the hotel before kicking him out.

The force of the security men's actions only added to Alexander's humiliation and anger.

Feeling melancholic, he hopped on his scooter and drove towards a hospital. Despite being the most reasonably priced facility in Fairview, it was still unaffordable for Alexander, whose mother had been recently diagnosed with cancer. The hospital had already started pestering him for payment for his mother's stay, let alone the cost of her chemotherapy. Peering through the window of his mother's ward, he caught a glimpse of her. His sadness had reached its zenith.

Instead of going inside to visit his mother, he rode towards a bridge in Fairview.

"Since life refuses to be kind to me, then I have no option but to leave it," he muttered as he stood on the edge of the bridge.

Right before he made a leap, a sharp, unmistakable sound echoed through the air, leaving...
