Nova was standing still where she was at she was at the entrance, her eyes fixed on the bloody mess right in front of her. She could not say she was surprised by the scene that had just played out in front of her because she was used to her boss’ cruelty since they fought together sometimes in battle.

But for some reason, it seemed very disturbing to her at the moment. Not the blood, not the shrieks and cries from Francis, but the emptiness in Jayden’s eyes.

It had been quite some time since she had had to witness his brutality even though this was just the tip of the iceberg. The main event for the day was yet to come and as much as she wanted justice for Jayden's parents, she was no longer looking towards the happening.

She stared directly at it as it happened. Jayden had gripped Francis by the wrist and pulled his hand straight through the dagger, leaving a smooth and straight line between the man's middle finger and his ring finger.

It had a gray tall slim sky and it was snowing. Howling winds followed Jayden and his team there to the coordinates. Citadel X lay a mountain side with massive steel doors that had frozen into the mountain and just covered under a blanket of ice and snow. This was far enough to have satellite signals. No radio, no phone lines, nothing; silence and the biting chill of isolation. The armored transport hissed as Jayden stepped outside holding a rifle and the breath came out in front of his face. Georgina and Nova came up behind, sombre-faced, bright-eyed. A troop of twelve federal agents, behind them, made a broad sweep, on the lookout against mines and booby traps. This is a dead place, mumbled Nova. No,” Jayden replied, scanning the surface of the mountain back through the visor in his hood. “It’s sleeping. and we are going to put in motion.”Georgina transferred to the control channel next to the steel doors. Her gloved halls tapped over the frozen console. “Jammed. EM shielding. it w

  • The Blooming Hour

Here the air was denser.Jayden was breathing painfully in his throat, a firey intake with each breath. It was around the side of his body, where there was great heat, and blood dropped down the inside of his shirt. He did not stop. Couldn’t.He forced his way down the service-tunnel beneath Citadel X, and every step was the sound of a stepping, the sound of going somewhere into a steel underground of eter-lastingness. rusting pipes and sputtering lights lined the ceiling over which, leading him to the hellish pulse of the fortress, Swift was carried. The further he ventured the louder it got. There was a low throb throughout the ground. And there, throbbing beneath it, the sure pulse of machine, a laboratory, some power-house, some enclosure beyond mammoth. He turned a corner, and drew to a halt. There was an ajar blast door. More outside it flared the fluorescent lights, untended and dreadful.Jayden packed his rifle and did not spare much thought to the blood caking his knuckles. H

  • Citadel X

The wind was howling, it blew snow around Jayden, who had knelt next to the crate, like glass. Over the mouth of the Citadel X the fortress loomed dark as a heavy concrete mouth dug into the rocky hillside. A personal gateway consisted of heavy steel doors. He looked up into the great sky, getting a breath of the ice and of ancient terror. Nova and Georgina and Micah and a dozen federal agents huddled behind cover behind him. At last it was time to come in.Micah said in a low voice into Jayden that they are ready.Jayden gave a nod and moved to stand up. God help us!They advanced, the boots gritting in the stillness of the snow. Micah made an infrared sweep. Reserved, trained, the operatives moved according to the lead of Nova. It was not an ordinary rescue. It was a storming of a castle of horrors…The steel doors shuddered as Nova forced its way through the lock with his machines; bolts hissed back as pneumatic pistons drove, metal on metal. Jayden and his group burst into a dark

The storm was over but the atmosphere around Jayden remained thick. As much as Shane was laid bare and caught, the bigger danger remained uncaptured.Lucien.Jayden was sitting in the war room in silence companioned only by a subdued buzz of machinery. The cinematographer dimmed out the lights. He stared at a hard drive that Micah had just delivered hours earlier. In one end of the screen, the item glowed that was a single encrypted file:“Citadel X.”Then Jayden hesitated her hand by the mouse and clicked. Satellite images, military log sheets and redacted documents started to load in secrecy, a progress bar appeared, and the secrets started unfolding. It was factual. The WHITEHACK place was not a myth. Citadel X a deep black facility disguised as a weapons decommissioning facility set in the ground. It had been turned to illicit examination, something off-the-book arrests, and now, Lucien. He slouched back, and pressed his temples. In the grave-yard which you yourself built, of cour

  • Judas Protocol

It was heavy and motionless as before a storm. The soldier, Nova, was sweating on her forehead as she fastened the bolts on the armored vehicle. It had been thoroughly gone over during the hour that had past, however, and she believed no one. Not that after Jayden had told him. There was, as Jayden had put it, a mole, said Shalir.Nova had been inclined to laugh it off, but of late too much weird stuff had been going on. Comm frequencies acting up, coded channels getting tapped, how certain ambushes of theirs had appeared... too accurate. As though the map had been drawn by hand of some one.As he went finishing the last lock on engine housing, he turned back to go in search of the toolbox. As fast as he did so a loud pop broke the silence, and immediately the under car burst into flames."No!" Just sideways Nova plunged to the ground. It gave the vehicle a violent shake. The explosion knocked him some feet away and he fell, scorched his shoulder against the earth. The air was full of

The atmosphere of the operations room was heavy. The normally active foundation was more chilly, more silent because it seemed to smell a traitor lurking in their midst. Jayden was sitting with his arms crossed in front of the wall-sized digital display with a clenched jaw.Georgina ready? he asked. The tall lady at the console nodded without marking a direction. She typed like a maniac enabling the program she designed in total from scratch.According to her, the digital footprint trap is alive. All the devices, all the keys, all outgoing and incoming messages are tracked and controlled by special encrypted keys now.And nobody knows about it? His voice was sharp. Nova said:just the three of us, Georgina assured me. "No leaks."Jayden exhaled. "Good. Well, let us get the bastard."Elsie meantime sat in a small, dim underground club-house. The air was a bit moist and the air was filled with the smell of concrete and old paper. Caspian, her little son, went quietly playing on the carp
