Chapter 13 How to Make a Bet
Author: Dane Lawrence
Ashton rolled his eyes. He did not know what Kendra was up to.

However, it appeared that explanations were unnecessary at the time. After all, he had already ended his marriage to Alora. What he did and who he was with were entirely his choice.

Beside him, Kendra could not help but size up Alora with her eyes.

So that was his ex-wife, the woman who caused him to lose control of his emotions.

Her appearance was alright, and her temperament was also not bad. However, she lacked a certain charm when compared to herself.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Kendra's mouth as she walked up to Alora and extended her hand, unsure what came to mind. "Miss Alora, Ashton has made several references to you. Please guide me as this is our first meeting."

Alora did not want to embarrass herself in front of everyone, so she politely extended her hand.

She was subtly scrutinizing the other person at the same time.

She had always taken pride in her exceptional beauty, but she must admit that the woman before her was breathtakingly beautiful.

From certain angles, she appeared even more majestic and outstanding than herself.

"I haven't heard Ashton mention you. Did you two just meet recently? Or have you known each other for a long time?" Alora pursed her lips.

Kendra smiled. "What does it matter? After all, Ashton no longer belongs to you, right?"

Alora nodded. Yes, Ashton was no longer her husband, but she refused to accept it. How could he find a woman who was even more beautiful than she was right after their divorce? Who did he think he was?

"Ashton, we just got divorced, and you're already involved with someone else. Shouldn't you give me an explanation?"

Ashton smiled faintly. "At least I'm better than you. You were already with another man before our divorce. I didn't even ask for an explanation from you. How dare you make such a request?"

That sentence hit Alora hard.

He had asked her if she had become close to Tyson and if the divorce was related to him when they signed the divorce agreement. Her silence was her admitting to that.

She was reaping what she sowed.

"I admit I was wrong, including your treatment of my family. I did accuse you without conducting a thorough investigation. It was entirely my fault. Can we now have a proper conversation?

"Perhaps there is still a chance for us to reconcile."

Ashton smiled ambiguously. "Are you suggesting we remarry?"

Alora raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps it's a possibility. What do you think?"

Ashton stood up from his chair, shook his slightly numb wrist, and a smile spread across his face. He shook his head. "Alora, oh, Alora, what kind of person are you? I understand you better than you understand yourself."

"Are you thinking about remarrying? Right after our divorce, a woman more beautiful than you appeared by my side. You believe it tarnishes your reputation, you feel defeated, and you refuse to accept it.

"You've always been this kind of person, wanting to be an absolute winner in relationships and career. Anyone, in your eyes, is a disposable pawn."

Alora frowned, her eyes turning cold. "Is it necessary for you to be a jerk?"

"Alora, why are you bothering with him? I will kill this little bastard today!" Tyson rose from the ground.

His breath seemed to stop the second he saw Kendra.

What the fuck?

'What kind of lucky star is following this brat? Every woman he encounters is more beautiful than the last. Why don't I have such luck? Now I'm just playing with his leftovers.'

He was so enraged by that thinking that his heart was about to burst.

"Miss, come over here quickly. You've been deceived. He's just a low-life loser from the bottom of society. No money, no power. He doesn't deserve you at all. Let me introduce you to some wealthy aristocratic gentlemen who are a thousand times better than him."

"Aristocratic gentlemen?" Kendra smiled faintly. "What kind of aristocratic gentlemen can match me? Are you talking about yourself? A pathetic man like you, I wouldn't even glance at you if we passed each other on the street."

Tyson's expression froze. Is he a pathetic man? Damn, what does Ashton have that he doesn't?

"Miss, even if you insult me, I won't be angry because you're also a victim. You haven't seen his true colors.

"When he was with Alora, he didn't work or have a job. All he did was live off her, sucking her dry. Later, Alora found out and kicked him out. If you're with him, you'll also be deceived and regret it!"

Ashton chuckled at the words. Not only did she not keep her distance from Ashton, but she also turned her head and hugged his arm tightly. "Deceive and regret? As long as he's willing, I'm his.

"Ashton, tonight I'll book a room and wear something nice. You can do whatever you want with me. How about that?"

Ashton had a vein throbbing on his forehead. That woman was truly a little demon.

Although he knew she was joking, such seductive gestures were not something a man could resist.

Tyson almost lost his sanity due to anger.

"Miss, you—"

"Shut up! Aren't you annoying? Who I'm with is none of your business. A pathetic man like you can only be attracted to someone like her. You don't even compare to a single strand of hair on Ashton's head." Kendra impatiently retorted.

"Mister Cox is now my fiancé. Are you provoking me with such insults?" Alora countered sharply.

Kendra glanced at her with disdain all over her face. "Provoking you? So what? I don't even consider you a rival. You're not worthy of my attention."

"But, I have to thank you for letting go of Ashton. This is to my benefit, after all.

"It won't be long before you realize it was your most foolish decision. So foolish that it drives people crazy."

Alora furrowed her brows tightly. She didn't think Ashton was an extraordinary guy. She just felt uncomfortable seeing her ex-husband being flaunted by someone else. It was like something that originally belonged to her was being exhibited by others, and the worst part was that the other party mocked her for not recognizing its value.

"If you like him, keep him. I never regret my decisions.

Someone like Mister Cox, a successful person, is many times stronger than this freeloader. Alora adjusted her hair with a mocking gesture.

"Tsk, tsk." Kendra smiled nonchalantly, a hint of unusual brilliance flashing in her eyes. "Miss Alora, since you're so confident in this pathetic man by your side and look down on Ashton, why don't we place a bet?"

Once the news spread, the world was in an uproar. The ban on nuclear weapons had been lifted? That meant the nuclear weapon's password had been entered, and the weapon could be launched from the ground with a single command.Furthermore, it differed from the time in the Syferian ice plains. Taking into account the international community's influence, Sunoria used a low-tonnage nuclear bomb with minimal lethality, but Aarrowsmith was different. Once they decided to use nuclear weapons, they would disregard all public opinion until they had utterly destroyed their opponents. In that case, the bombed area would be a wasteland where nothing could live for at least a century.Nobody wanted nuclear weapons to detonate on their own territory. Therefore, wherever Ashton was, the country in charge of that territory would be in a panic.Sceponyol and the allied countries quickly convened a military meeting and contacted Aarrowsmith, demanding a halt to the nuclear bombings. However, when

Furthermore, so what if I start a war?"Ashton regarded Nimo with interest. Nimo and the others were dressed in combat suits and ready for a final desperate fight."Hand over the core technology of the combat suit and the formula for the Water of Youth, and I will let you live today," Ashton said.He admitted to being greedy for Aarrowsmith's technological advancements—not for their combat effectiveness, but for the scientific application behind those means. If members of Obsidian Gates were equipped with that type of combat suit and the Water of Youth, combined with the martial arts practitioner's own methods, their combat effectiveness would skyrocket. Everyone would become a super warrior fearless of death. However, his words made Nimo laugh wildly."Do you think it's up to you? A filthy Linnish man wants the sixth

Nimo finally felt relaxed.Three other figures then appeared on the ship.Their combat suit was removed, revealing the figures of a woman and two men.The Annihilator Team had only four survivors. The captain of the ship approached the deck."I am Leblanc, the ship's commander, and I have been ordered to come pick you up. Why are there only four of you? What about the others?" Leblanc inquired in a suspicious tone."All of them are dead. That Linnish warrior killed them.""What?"Leblanc was shocked. He knew what power the Annihilator Team wielded, and he was sent to perform that task precisely because of that. He responded as soon as possible and cooperated unconditionally because he knew that any task assigned to the Annihilator Team had to be something he could not ignore. He also understood the Annihilator Team's composition—the frontline combat team, the communications team, the in

The battle continued.Ashton only used a sliver of true thunder's power before annihilating several members hiding in the dark in one fell swoop. Those members were waiting to report the news. The Annihilator Team was not made up entirely of combatants. The sixth-gen combat suit was still in development and had not yet been officially added to the assembly plan, so only frontline combatants wore it.For example, communications, intelligence collection, transmission, and backend members wore standard fifth-gen combat suits. In the face of that devastating thunder, there was no powerful self-healing and recovery ability, nor the ability of the Water of Youth to reshape the body. The other members were destroyed almost in the blink of an eye."Damn, what kind of weapon is that?"The captain roared frantically during the attack."Captain, this is the latest information—he found an artifact that gathers thunder and lightning at the Church of Darkness' headquarters in Edlington. "What? Is our warship here?""It has arrived offshore. Our country is our strongest supporter. No one can take action against Aarrowsmith's soldiers!" The man's confidence had skyrocketed. He had been a member of the Annihilator Team for over a decade and had been promoted to captain along the way. He had never encountered such a situation on a mission. A warship from Aarrowsmith's strongest navy had appeared to escort him in defeating their enemy. That undoubtedly helped him gain confidence."Fight as you retreat; buy me time."The captain took the Brain's terminal and refilled a black magnetic rod.At that moment, an indescribable scream ripped through the sky. As soon as it ended, a 50-meter building containing several people collapsed.Ashton was wearing the Obsidian Jade Scales and resisted dozens of gunshots. "Since the first battle in the Syferian ice plains, no one has ever caused me such a severe injury."Ashton threw a punch with enough force to cause massive explosions, swiping it at 30 times the speed of sound. The man in black armor raised his large shield almost subconsciously. When Ashton's fist made contact with the shield, a silent ripple of space appeared, and ultrasonic waves that normal creatures could not hear spread frantically in all directions like a silent bell signaling the end of the world."Hmm?"Ashton realized that when the two forces came into contact, the shield vibrated at trillions of times per second while the special metal inside formed a ring-shaped magnetic field. That magnetic field disrupted the surrounding energy flow to resolve the power emitted by his punch. It functioned similarly to the previous black magnetic rod, except one was used for attacks and the other for defense."Go!" The man's arms were numb. He held a shield and dragged the woman at
