Edward Creamer was on his way to the hospital. He smoked five cigars in the last twenty minutes. He hadn’t looked this worried in a long while.

“Why did this fool go to her home again?” Edward appeared angry and frustrated. “I told him plenty of times to not even think of marrying a beautiful woman. The more attractive a woman is, the more boyfriends she’ll have. It’s better to just fuck them and then marry a less attractive girl.”

Edward was speaking from experience. His ex-wife had cheated on him multiple times with multiple boyfriends, both before and after marriage.

If the DNA test back then didn’t show that Stephen was his own flesh and blood, Edward would have given her a horrible death, which in his world would mean something like being eaten alive by the fish at the bottom of a big aquarium.

Soon, Edward reached the hospital.

The doctor came out to greet him.

“How is my son?” Edward grabbed the doctor’s collar. “He better not be dead, or I’ll have a hundred thousand fish feed

It was late morning when Edward arrived at Diane’s house.Holding the gun in his hand, Edward looked at the house. The door was open. He could enter the building if he wanted to, but he didn’t enter that house.Instead, he went to the neighbor’s house. There was an adult brown rottweiler, Payne, outside on the lawn, and it roared as Edward approached the gate.It wasn't a bark, not a growl, but a full-throated shriek that sounded like a demon being flayed alive.Passersby would clutch their chests; mothers would scoop up their children, and even the most hardened teenagers would quicken their pace, glancing fearfully at the house. Payne’s screams were a force of nature, a sonic weapon designed to pierce the ears, chill the bones, and keep the world at bay. However, Edward didn't flinch, didn't falter, didn't even break stride. It was as if the dog’s screams washed over him, like a wave crashing against a rock, leaving him entirely unaffected. His gaze was fixed on the dog as a predato

In bloody clothes, Denver and Catherine had to walk the whole mountain down as no helpers arrived. So, Sheryl’s help proved to be truly invaluable.Catherine noticed that Denver was bringing the kitchen knife with him.“Why are you bringing that knife along?” she asked. “I don’t think any bear will attack us here.”“I stabbed the bear with this. I’m going to keep this as a memento—”“And remember that horrifying incident whenever you see it?”“Y-Yeah. Pretty much.”“Why would you want to get reminded of that? Is it just you, or are all men like this? Loving to keep stupid things for stupid reasons.”Denver looked at her blood shirt. “C-Can I keep your shirt?”“You want this as a memento, too? No! I’m going to dump this in a trash can since it’s covered in blood, and trash is where it belongs,” Catherine sounded certain about it.They booked a room at a small hotel by the base of the mountain.Catherine changed her clothes, but when she was about to toss her bloody clothes in the trash

Edward Creamer, after dealing with the devious dog and its owner, chose to enter Diane’s house.Subrina was in the hall, sitting nervously as if she was waiting for him. “Welcome, Mr. Edward,” she came and greeted him. “This is our first time meeting, isn’t it? Diane told me so much about you.”Even though she put her hand forward, he didn’t shake her hand.He just went and sat on the couch. “I came here to thank you for calling the ambulance and helping my son.”Subrina smiled in relief. “I did something anyone would do.”“Not everyone will do what you did, though,” Edward stated. “I appreciate what you did, but why didn’t you stay with my son in the hospital?”Subrina was startled. “Uh, about that…” She couldn’t just tell Edward that she was going on a date with Peter Mason.“Your husband died, and you’re dressed up for some occasion,” Edward voiced his mind. “Are you seeing someone?”Subrina frowned. “Are you suggesting I should still mourn for Richard even though he died many mont

After Edward left, Diane entered the house.Subrina saw her daughter and squinted her eyes. “Where did you go?”“Just to meet a friend,” Diane said and was going upstairs.“Wait, why the hell did you record my conversation with Catherine?” Subrina asked aloud. “What were you thinking? Were you trying to use it against me later on?”“I was recording it for fun, Mom. Don’t think too much,” Diane said.“Tsk, you heard what Stephen’s dad said, didn’t you?” Subrina got up from the couch. “Just forget about Stephen before things get worse for us. They are gangsters. If they decide to snatch this house from us, what can we do? Even the courts and police support them. We’ll be brought to the streets.”“I’m aware of that, and I’ll never let such a thing happen, so don’t worry,” Diane said and then went to her room.Despite what Diane said, Subrina couldn’t trust her daughter’s words. “I can’t waste my time here. Peter Mason would be waiting for me now.”Subrina hurriedly left the house and saw

“Shit! Stop the car and get out! Now!” Sheryl’s shout startled the ones sitting in the front.Denver immediately squeezed his foot on the brake.“What? What happened?” Catherine looked back and asked.Sheryl kicked the door next to her and sent it flying. She got out.Seeing her, Denver and Catherine also got out.“Run away from the car!” Sheryl shouted as she ran away.Denver, however, heard a noise from the sky. He didn’t even look up. He just jumped across the car and hugged Catherine. It all happened so fast that both Denver and Catherine didn’t quite know what was happening.Just then, the missile came down and struck the car, causing a great explosion that shattered the glasses and sent many objects flying.Catherine and Denver were both blown back because of the shockwave. The knife Denver had brought with him also flew out of the car and flew toward Denver’s head, but Sheryl appeared in a flash and deflected the knife with her bare hand. However, when she turned back, she saw t

Only then, the driver stopped the ambulance on the side of the road. There was a motel nearby. After Sheryl called for backup on her mobile, she took Denver and Catherine to the motel and booked a room. “Let’s stay here until I find out what exactly happened.”“Are we safe here?” Catherine still looked nervous and shaken by everything that happened. “Won’t the missile hit this building?”The missile was so fast and silent Catherine couldn’t even see it even when it struck the car right before her. Naturally, she was terrified on the inside, even though she wasn’t freaking out.If another missile or two were to strike this motel, which would take time to escape from, then wouldn’t it mean certain death for all of them?Denver also felt that Catherine’s question was valid.Sheryl could see that they were expect

Denver pushed Catherine into the bathroom, but he stayed outside.“Are you not going to hide?” Sheryl asked. “These assassins might be a bit too much for you in your current state.”“I’m not ready to kill like you can, but… I won’t just wait for them to come and attack me and the people I love,” Denver clenched his fists, ignoring the fact that Catherine was banging the door, telling him to open it. “You said it yourself. This is war!”Just then, two assassins burst through the ceiling. One attacked Sheryl while the other one attacked Denver.Sheryl managed to duck from a cleaving attack and then stabbed the assassin from behind with her bare hand. She was able to pierce through his body with ease. “Who sent you? Good or bad. But the problem is that we don’t know who the culprit behind these assassins is. They belong to your sixth brother Tyron, but Tyron could easily say that a few of his men acted on their own.”“I noticed that they had the gun and ax symbol,” Denver pointed out, staring at his bloody palm, frowning a little. “That’s what the officer also had when he tried to shoot me a few days back.”“An officer tried to shoot you?” Catherine was shocked. She was wrapping a bandage around his palm. “When?”“It was taken care of, Cat. Don’t worry.”Despite what D

“Heh, she’s going to cough and bleed to death,” Gray snickered. As the blue gas swiftly filled the room Sheryl was in, she waved her arm. Many fascicles of leaves flew about in the room, and the density of the gas lowered pretty fast.Gray’s eyes swelled wide open. “I-Impossible. She’s absorbing the poisonous gas with the leaves.” She quickly frowned. “What’s more, the leaves don’t seem to be changing color, which means they’re immune to poison. This is one sick ability. If she’s capable of this, what more can she do?”Borg was watching this on a projected screen. He removed his armor suit and folded his sleeves. “I will handle her, but be prepared for collateral damage.”“I will do my best to increase the defenses, Borg,” Gray was saying, but just then she received a red alert. The movement of the turtle monster changed.Gray, Borg, and Sheryl felt it without even having to read any messages.“Why is it heading to the surface?” Gray was utterly confused. “Did Green Fang do this? From laser guns to ADE nets, Borg was able to control all of the electronic gadgets in the room. The only exception was the mobile in Sheryl’s pocket not because of Rose but because of Sheryl’s aura.“I can deal with the laser bullets, but is there any way for you to control those nets, Rose?” she queried under her breath.“No, they are not just simple electronic gadgets, and he’s securing them with nanobots,” Rose replied. “I can’t control those bots as they only receive signals from only trusted sources. Maybe, if we disguise ourselves well enough, we might succeed, but it’ll take time to crack their code.”“How much time?”“Indefinite. It could take hours or days.”“That’s not helping.” Sheryl created a bough of branches to push back all the ADE nets, but the laser bullets still destroyed her branches. She didn’t use aura in order to conserve her strength.Contrary to her approach, Borg let loose his skills. He started off with the 108 combat styles, which focused on the rabid move

Sheryl didn’t wait for Borg to attack her.Rather, she attacked him first. She created a wooden sword in her left hand and a dagger in her right, both of which had been enhanced by aura. With a single leap, she closed the distance, and the sword sought to behead Borg in a quick diagonal slash.Borg moved his head to the side, but then came the dagger stabbing at his chest. Before he could move, the weapon struck him and put a dent in his armor. He still used that little bit of time and managed to jump back.“That was dangerous…” Borg’s expression changed.“Tsk,” Sheryl slightly frowned. (He calmed down instead of panicking. I guess he isn’t the Fourth Son for no reason.)“The double-dealing technique…” Borg said with a hint of arrogance in his tone. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. But your aura is lacking…” he looked to his left and saw ADE nets. “It seems Gray troubled you before I got here.”“Don’t fret,” Sheryl replied. “Even though I feel like I’m having fear, I can still f

I will meet the king soon and give him my resignation letter.”“Mm?” Elissa looked at Borg whose chest wound was deep. But the blood coming out of it was bubbling. It suddenly started to beep and then exploded.Elissa waved her hand and the explosion got sucked into her hand and turned into a ball of black mass.Catherine’s eyes swelled out of her sockets. It was spinning around all of them, and the movement made it easier to deflect the laser beams in tangential paths. It was cast by Natalia.“Borg, you have gone too far!” Natalia leaped at him and thrust her sword at his chest. She was fast, but Denver intervened and kicked the sword away.“If we kill him, we won’t know where Minerva is!” Denver blurted.Natalia was surprised to see that Denver had freed himself from the black energy ropes.“H-How did you come out of the ADE rope?” Natalia asked.“I just used spiritual aura, and it disintegrated the rop

Nope. That's not how the world works.”“But I never set my sights on marriage,” Borg replied while he charged his hands with energy as silently as possible. “As long as I am better than I was yesterday, I will keep improving. My graph only goes up, and in time, I will master all those skills I’ve got, and I will be more than capable of sitting at the top of the world.”“Hahaha,” the council members started laughing. “Technology sure can help create powerful things, but you do know that aura reigns supreme, don’t you?

Yellow Tiger was observing the fight between Denver and Borg.“That punk released poisonous flames!” Yellow Tiger didn’t like it. “He doesn’t care about others’ lives. What if the council members breathe those flames and lose their minds?”The council members are generally more resistant to poisons because they were often fed rare herbs that would boost their health and strength.Nevertheless, Borg’s flames were not ordinary. They were living flames, which he could control, thanks to the nanobots present in the flames. These flames didn’t need a fire source as Borg could freely control them. They could burn for as long as he wanted. They could roast anybody he wished. And Borg made sure that those ever-burning flames concentrated on Denver and Catherine.“They can’t seem to escape from those deadly flames,” one of the mothers of the council said, looking up.“Don’t underestimate the lightning ability,” Natalia was saying, and something flew out of the flames and landed on the ground be
