The assassin’s body was blown into bits, but it did not cause any damage to the walls of the room.

Catherine felt goosebumps all over. Denver pushed Catherine into the bathroom, but he stayed outside.

“Are you not going to hide?” Sheryl asked. “These assassins might be a bit too much for you in your current state.”

“I’m not ready to kill like you can, but… I won’t just wait for them to come and attack me and the people I love,” Denver clenched his fists, ignoring the fact that Catherine was banging the door, telling him to open it. “You said it yourself. This is war!”

Just then, two assassins burst through the ceiling. One attacked Sheryl while the other one attacked Denver.

Sheryl managed to duck from a cleaving attack and then stabbed the assassin from behind with her bare hand. She was able to pierce through his body with ease. “Who sent you? Was it Tyron?”

“You will die soon, bitch,” the assassin blurted.

“Yeah, I hear that often,” Sheryl pulled her hand out, and the assassin coll

Leo Adler left the house with a positive impression on Diane, which was exactly what she wanted.“He didn’t say goodbye, but he at least smiled,” Diane thought as she waved him goodbye. “This is a good start.”After Leo left, she locked the door so that Jamie wouldn’t tell her to go out.“What does your son do, Uncle?” Diane asked Jamie.“Save your energy. Leo stopped loving after his lover died.”“Oh, no. How did she die?”“He killed her.”Diane’s heart shook for a second. “W-What?”Jamie put the empty tea cup down. “She acted like she loved him, then stole his money and ran away. He was going to let her go, but then he found out that she also cheated on him. So, he tracked her down and killed her by stuffing all the dollar bills she stole down her throat.”Diane swallowed her breath. “I-Isn’t that true cruel?” Just thinking about a person dying from having cash stuffed in their mouth sent shivers down Diane’s spine.“She wanted the money, and he made it so that she could take it to

In the morning, a piece of news was announced by the council. When the news reached Sheryl, she was quite disturbed by it. “R-Rankers Festival? Why now of all times?”“Why are you sweating?” Catherine asked. “Is it bad for us?”“It isn’t just a festival. Anyone from any group can compete with anybody,” Sheryl said. “A non-ranker can challenge a ranker, and even a ranker can also challenge a non-ranker. Refusing a challenge for a ranker means he’ll lose his position in the rankers. A non-ranker, on the other hand, will lose his rights to ever becoming a ranker if he refuses a challenge. Even those who aren’t part of the king’s blood must participate.”Catherine’s eyes widened. “It definitely sounds scary, but it’s only one fight, right?”Sheryl exhaled audibly. “No, one person can be challenged ten times in a day. And the festival goes on for a fortnight.”Catherine was stunned. “Y-You mean fourteen days?! What the hell kind of a festival lasts that long?”Sheryl’s jaw hardened. “The l

In Lumia town.Diane finished eating breakfast in a hotel and then came to Jamie’s house. She knocked on the door multiple times. “Can you hear me? I’m so hungry. Please open the door. Let me inside. Or I’m going to starve to death! I’ve already cleaned the front yard. What more do you want me to do?!”No matter how much she begged or yelled, the door wasn’t opened.“Should I break this damn door and force myself in?” Diane gnashed her teeth.[Don’t make such a stupid mistake.] Sandy warned her. [If he gets angry, you could even lose your life.]“Tsk, then what can I do? Do you want me to waste my time here?” she barked. “Help me with a good idea, you asswiper!”“Who are you?” A voice came from behind her.She turned around.A tall man with dark brown hair was staring at her with an unwelcoming gaze. He had an eagle tattoo on the back of his right hand. He looked to be in his mid thirties.Whether it be looks wise or dressing wise, he was near-perfect.“Don’t you know that it’s manner

The next morning.Denver hadn’t slept through the night as he was busy healing himself. Thanks to the healing methods Sheryl prepared for him, he was able to slightly move his fingers now.“The cooling energy of the atmosphere, she said,” Denver smiled. He briefly remembered the time he clashed with Ingrid and used an opportunity to slip through space and dodge Ingrid’s attack.“When I was jumping through that space, I briefly felt as if I was jumping into someone’s eye,” he thought. “It appeared as if the earth itself is shaped like an eye. It was a weird imagery. But it might hold something key to realizing more about the depths of the supernatural state of the world we live in. I might have a breakthrough in my spiritual aura, too.“I need to read more about spiritual aura, but the books related to it are found in the Hawk Library, which is owned by the council. I don’t have a good relationship with it. There’s no way they’re going to let me read the books I want. Will any other ra

In Rose Park.“You want me to teach you how to use daggers?’ Sheryl clicked her tongue. “Nah, you don’t need to use daggers when you have the gravitas system.”“No. I want to learn close combat,” Catherine quickly replied. “In the recent fight with the augmen and augbeasts, I realized that I can use my gravitas system better with weapons. And I can’t only rely on the system. I need to know how martial arts work so that I can fight powerful foes.”“Mm…” Sheryl imagined Catherine fighting with one dagger, sending it flying through many enemies one after another and killing lots of enemies with minimum effort. “I can kind of imagine what you are planning to do. But learning a dagger is much harder than simply training your body or even training with the sword.”“I’m prepared to train myself to death,” Catherine said without hesitation.“Okay,” Sheryl created four wooden daggers with ease and tossed two over. She started showing the posture and teaching the ins and outs of dagger fighting

  • CHAPTER 363

Diane put on the coat and sat down on the stairs. Her breath long turned foggy. She was feeling the cold on her fingertips. She had to rub her palms and repeatedly touch her cheeks to warm herself.A few minutes passed.“Are you going to watch me freeze to death here?” Diane shouted. But she didn’t get any response.“Tch, what a cold-hearted man.”She looked up at the sky. “I can see the moon or the stars with all the snow falling.”She glanced toward the grave, which was under a tree, and this was the only place where the snow wasn’t piling up.“I thought he was regularly cleaning the grave,” she said. “But it doesn’t look like the snow is falling on the grave at all.”[He’s built a barrier around the grave to block the snow.]“Barrier? Shouldn’t the snow pile up on the barrier then?”[No, it’s getting vaporized. You just can’t see it.]“Is that so?”Just then, a leaf came flying toward her at a blistering speed.[Dodge!] Sandy shouted as a warning. But Diane didn’t even understand w
