The humid air hung heavy in the cave, thick with the smell of mildew and something acrid, like burnt metal, all of which signaled the arrival of the massive monster.

Sheryl stood poised, her bare feet gripping the slick, moss-covered stone.

Before her coiled a nightmare made real: a serpent of impossible size, its scales shimmering like obsidian in the flickering aural flame created by Durk’s forefinger.

Five massive horns, like polished obsidian, erupted from its head, twitching as if sensing the vibrations in the stone.

The red crystal on its forehead gave away its identity.

This was Naga, the last remaining guardian of the Whispering Stone Caves, a beast whose legend whispered of venom so potent it could melt rock and metal alike.

This was a beast which had once stood its ground against the wretched Cerberus, and their stories of their drool raining down as arrows on Nameless Zone and killing hundreds were still talked about by the old folks.

Sheryl swallowed, the metallic tang of

As Denver was leaving the scene, Sheryl asked him, “Is it okay to leave without killing Tyron?”“He’ll make more of an example alive than dead,” Denver told her. “I see, but what if someone heals him completely?” Sheryl wondered. “He may not be able to get his limbs back, but he could still get artificial limbs. He’ll still be a threat.”“With the restrictions I put on his organs, I don’t think he’ll be a threat anytime soon,” Denver suggested. “Unless the king himself steps in for Tyron, I don’t see him being in the race anymore.”“Mm…” Sheryl then walked a different way.“Where are you headed?”“I’m going to get Birka’s ability,” Sheryl said, grinning. “It will support my forest ability quite nicely.”“Do you want me to come along?”“If you’d like to.”Denver then turned and accompanied her, which made her feel good.In half a minute, they found Birka’s body which had burned to a crisp. But she was still standing.Denver found it a bit difficult to watch.Sheryl put her hand on Bir

  • CHAPTER 427

Durk had many reasons to be shocked and upset by the words that had escaped Philip’s mouth. There was a time when Durk wanted to learn from Philip and was willing to ally with him for one year, but Philip refused. As far as Durk knew, Philip did not ask any top ranker before to join his kettle, so this must be the first time this was happening.“This is new. What changed, Philip?” Durk asked. “You are known to not trust anybody. Are you sure you want to take a dynamite like Denver under you when you never know when he’ll explode?”“This isn’t the first time I’m asking him, though,” Philip replied, startling Durk even more.Denver didn’t remember the past he shared with Philip.“I have no intention of working under anyone,” Denver stated.“Why not?” Philip asked back. “I’m striving for peace. Are you seeking something greater than that?”“Peace, huh…” Denver’s expression didn’t change. “Can you establish peace that can last a lifetime?”“A lifetime? That’s impractical.”“Then why are y

Durk was not expecting Denver to intervene much less find him in the thick smoke which would rob one of their senses.Just as Durk’s hand was on Sheryl’s throat, Denver’s throat was also on Durk’s throat.“Are you going to kill your brother for mere common blood?” Durk asked.Denver didn’t even respond. He channeled his spiritual energy into Durk’s body and tried to incapacitate him so that even if he wanted to kill Sheryl, he wouldn’t be able to.Denver wasn’t going to let Durk kill Sheryl even if Durk was ready to die and take her with him.“Spiritual aura…” Durk gritted his teeth very much.Of course, this was the reason Denver was able to see through the black smoke. This was the reason why Durk had to settle for the third rank even though he had mastered both somatic aura and psychic aura in a way that made his fog deadly. He had great techniques that he could pull off with his fog, but they all fell short in front of spiritual aura.Realizing that Durk’s body was freezing up, Sh

  • CHAPTER 425

“I mixed heavy metals in the air that you breathed,” Durk laughed with a large lick of arrogance. “They will disrupt your body at cellular level. You’re going to get seizures soon, and you WILL die!”Oxidative stress built up on Sheryl’s skin, and she could feel herself weakening from within pretty fast.It was probably because the cells in her body were dying at a rapid rate.Durk pulled out the branch from his body and was laughing, but more branches struck him.He was quite surprised that Sheryl was still able to fight back. Most people would have already lost consciousness, but Sheryl looked far from over.Despite being ridden with ten holes in Durk’s body, he was still standing. His injuries were healing at a great speed.Durk released strong aura and burned the branches in his body to powder. “How the hell are you still okay? You should be writhing in pain!”“I AM writhing in pain!” Sheryl reached out for him with her hand which looked like a beast’s claw in his eyes. But all sh

  • CHAPTER 424

As Denver stepped forward, Tyron’s feet moved back.“We’ve always hurt each other, Denver,” Tyron said. “We know each other very much, so we’ll make a really good team. Think about it.”Denver covered his fists with thick red lightning. “I wouldn’t have come here if I hadn’t already made my decision, Brother. There’s nothing else to think about. Give it your all.”Denver had already done his research about Tyron.Tyron would secretly sell cadavers for medical research and organ transplantation. He partnered with numerous big hospitals around the country.Directly or indirectly, Tyron was responsible for killing patients purely for the sake of profits.Even if having Tryon on his side were to greatly benefit him, Denver would never consider having an ally like him.But he didn’t feel the need to tell all this to Tyron who was a full grown adult.Denver leaped forth and threw his fist without hesitation. “Blood Bolt!”Tyron blocked the fist with both hands. He had imbued his whole body

  • CHAPTER 423

Before Denver’s fight with Tyron and Durk properly began, Sheryl had already dealt with Birka and joined her boss. She didn’t go to Denver. Instead, she stood in Durk’s way, her hair having shades of brown and green, making her look like the forest queen.Durk appeared just a little surprised. “Green Fang…” He smirked. “Your title fits you even better now. You also look more beautiful than ever.”“I don’t need my looks to sway my opponent’s confidence in securing a victory,” Sheryl replied. “I didn’t get to this level without falling for praise. But those mistakes are what made me what I am today. So, don’t try to tongue your way out of this fight, Durk.”Durk was no longer smiling. “A wise woman’s intuition sure is something. You remind me of Zinga.”“Ah, the one you abandoned. She’s either joined Lily’s kettle, or still being tortured by them,” Sheryl replied.Durk frowned.“You don’t seem surprised, which means you knew,” Sheryl snorted. “You are a pathetic man, Durk. If my assista
