CHAPTER 44

The clinic doors slid shut with a soft, mechanical hiss.

Jared stood just outside them, hands in his pockets, watching as Becky helped Brad into the back seat of the car. Her movements were efficient—careful but distant, like someone performing a duty rather than offering comfort. She didn’t look back. Not once.

Brad did.

Their eyes met briefly. Brad gave him a small nod—not hostile, not warm either. Just acknowledgement. Then the door closed, the engine started, and the car pulled away into the night.

Jared stayed where he was.

For a long moment, he didn’t move at all. He simply watched the empty space where the car had been, as if expecting it to reverse, as if Becky might suddenly lean out the window and call his name, tell him to stop standing there like an idiot.

Nothing happened.

The night air felt colder than it had earlier, biting through his suit jacket. He exhaled slowly, a thin cloud of breath leaving his lips, and finally turned away from the clinic.

This was new.

Matthew was burning with rage. He knew he had to get some sort of revenge, show Jared the wannabe CEO what it took to be a real business mogul. But he also knew the kid wasn't just all talk, he could bite as well and bite hard. He was still very much determined to make Jared regret crossing paths with him but he knew he had to be very smart with his tactics.Kirby sat beside him in the fancy living room. She used her hands to massage his shoulders, easing up all the pent up tension and anger. Matthew's eyes rolled into the back of his head and he melted into her grip.“Had a long day, babe?” Kirby asked.“You can say that again.” Matthew sighed.“What's up?” Kirby asked. When she noticed he was relaxed enough, she carefully slipped into his laps, “busy day at the office?”“Yeah…” Matthew said. As much as he wanted to rant to Kirby about everything he couldn't help but remember the NDA he had signed.“What about the internship, baby?” Kirby asked, lightly touching his cheek, “were you

  • CHAPTER 50

The sun had barely broken through the light haze over Los Angeles University when Brad practically ran across the campus grounds, his face lit up with excitement. Becky and Jared, walking together near the quad, were the first people he spotted.“Jared! Becky! You guys won’t believe it!” Brad’s voice carried across the courtyard, drawing a few curious glances from other students.Jared turned toward him, his brow slightly raised. “What’s going on, Brad?”Brad skidded to a halt just a few feet away, breathless but clearly brimming with happiness. “My internship… it’s restored! I got the confirmation email this morning! They… they’ve reconsidered, and I’m officially back on the program at Skyrun Inc.!”Becky immediately pulled him into a congratulatory hug. “Oh Brad, that’s amazing! I knew you’d get it back!” Her voice was full of warmth, but her eyes flicked toward Jared, silently acknowledging his role in the whole ordeal.Jared, while smiling, kept a calm demeanor. “That’s great, Bra

The conference room was quieter than Jared expected. Even the faint hum of the air conditioning seemed subdued, as though the building itself was holding its breath. Matthew Tyrin, executive director and self-proclaimed king of Skyrun Inc., sat rigidly in his chair, every muscle tense. Fredrick King, HR manager, remained near the desk, a silent observer of the storm that was about to unfold.Jared leaned back in his chair, sunglasses reflecting the light from the large windows. He had no intention of making this theatrical, but he wanted Matthew to understand something fundamental: in this room, he held all the cards.“Before we proceed,” Jared said, voice calm but commanding, “you are required to honor the non-disclosure agreement you signed. Everything discussed here—every detail, every decision, every admission—remains confidential. Any breach will result in legal action and immediate termination. Do you understand?”Matthew swallowed hard, his usual smugness nowhere to be found.

  • CHAPTER 48

Matthew Tyrin had just barely recovered from the initial shock of seeing Jared Diamonds—a college student and supposedly “anonymous boss”—walk into Skyrun Inc.’s executive office. The man was calm, collected, and perfectly composed, while Matthew’s mind was still reeling from the revelation that everything he had believed about the company’s hierarchy was wrong. He leaned back in his chair, trying to mask the way his pulse was picking up. “You… you expect me to believe a university brat runs Skyrun Inc.?” he scoffed, attempting sarcasm to cover his unease.Jared, leaning casually against the edge of the desk, didn’t even flinch. His sunglasses reflected the light in a way that made Matthew feel as though he was being examined under a microscope. “I don’t expect you to believe it,” Jared said, voice calm, deliberate, almost dangerous in its precision. “I expect you to respect it.”Fredrick King, the HR manager, shifted in his chair across the room. His eyes flicked to Matthew, and then

When the car pulled up at Skyrun Inc., Jared couldn’t help but smile proudly through the tinted windows of his latest sports car. It was a smile of pride because truly, Skyrun was a beautiful industry to behold and a worthy investment. He pulled on his sunglasses and stepped out of the vehicle.“Good morning.” A guard greeted. He stepped in front of him, a suspicious look on his face, “How may I help you, sir? Your face doesn’t seem too familiar.Jared nodded, then scrolled through his phone, “I have an appointment with the HR manager.”“Are you sure? The HR manager doesn’t have any appointments at this time?”“Actually,” Jared said, showing him a confirmation email on his phone, “he does. I also have a meeting with one of the executives. A Matthew Tyrin.”The guard nodded and stepped aside, “very well sir.”Jared walked into the building. Sometimes, it was tempting to make a public address. Show everyone who he truly was and the amount of power he wielded in his hands. But he knew th

Becky and Jared found Brad seated at his desk, his hands enclosed in a tight fist and placed in front of him. Knowing Brad they realized it was an odd position to find him in so, they hurried over to him.“Are you good?” Jared asked as soon as they’d reached him.Brad sighed, “They’re reconsidering my internship at Skyrun Inc.”Jared squinted at him, “What?! How is that even possible?”Brad shrugged and sunk back into his seat, “I really don’t know. I got the email this morning and it’s all I’ve been able to think about since morning.”Becky sat beside him and hugged him, “I’m so, so sorry Brad.”But Brad was unmoved, he looked up at Jared, “why do I feel that Kirby’s new boy toy is somehow responsible for this.”Jared took a seat on his other side and whipped out his phone, “because he is.”Becky went quiet for a moment as she turned everything over and over again in her head, “don’t they need the managing director’s consent first before revoking your consent.”Brad nodded, “that’s w
