Amber smiled. “It's nothing, Neal. You deserve it."

Neal took another look at the necklace. “I really appreciate this, Amber," he said sincerely with his focus still on the necklace. Then he looked up at Amber, "But I don't have anyone to give."

Amber waved one of her hands in the air. “Doesn’t matter. You don't need to have someone you'll give it to now, you'll have someday. So keep it safe for that day.”

Amber picked up her bag. “Now that that's done, I’ll head for work.”

Neal nodded. “Have a nice day.”

Neal watched Amber close the door behind her. The room grew quiet and he was left with his own thoughts.

He stood there in the middle of the living room, the open box lying heavily in his palm. He stared down at it.

“She said I should keep it for that day,” Neal muttered to himself. "Will that day ever come?” He wondered aloud.

Yvonne gaped at Neal, shocked. “The famous Amber Beckman?” She piped.Neal nodded and repeated, “Yes." Yvonne could only stare at Neal. Does that mean that Neal is from the famous Beckman family? “What are you to her?" She blurted. She hesitated, “Are you related by blood?”Neal shook his head. Then he elaborated, "I'm related to Amber because she adopted me as a brother.”Neal carried on, “In fact, she's one of the reasons why I was able to return to school. Yvonne watched as Neal's face lit up with a smile, “She didn't only support and encourage me, she supplied me with the help that I needed. She gave me some money and I was able to enroll in an academy.”Neal's smile broadened, “Amber is such a kind-hearted woman. She saw how much I was suffering. And just like that, she decided to step in to help me. Neal smiled. “Amber's also the one currently monitoring Beverly's health so I can focus on my studies.”Yvonne's frowns furrowed. "Who is Beverly?" He looked at Yvonne with an a

Cathy felt the stare of each family member bore into her skin as she sat there, listening to her father talk. “Thank you once again for making it to our gathering as usual,” her father finished his speech. He added, “If any of you have any suggestions or complaints, please raise them at this time.Cathy felt her palm become suddenly clammy when Lisa stood up.“One thing I'd like to complain about is the lack of accountability of the family in power.”Jack frowned, worried that she was already talking about the money as they'd expected.“Sometime after our last meeting,” Lisa continued, "I heard that we lost the contract with the Waterfall Corporation yet we were never informed about it.”Murmur arose.“What?”“How did that happen?”“That is our biggest contract, how could we lose it?”“That never happened," Jack lied smoothly, shutting everyone up. He looked in Cathy’s direction. "Did we lose the contract with the Waterfall Corporation?”Cathy glared at Lisa as she answered her fath

The manager stepped back to take a good look at Neal. He looked between Elsa and Neal. “I see you brought your bodyguard along,” the manager said, nodding his head."Just give me my pay and let me leave. I worked for it. What happened was a mistake and I apologized,” Elsa said. She wished the manager would just listen. The manager's lips twisted angrily. “I don't have a dime to give you," he bit out.Elsa casted a brief glance in Neal's direction as if to say ‘I told you so,’ but Neal's attention was focused on the manager.“Actually, you do. You have to pay her for every hour she worked here as agreed before she began the job,” Neal told the manager sternly. The manager hissed. “I don't have time for riffraffs like you." He turned to the attendant behind the counter. “Call security." The attendant hurriedly grabbed the intercoms and placed a call to the security team outside.Elsa moved close to Neal. She clutched his arm. "Let's just leave, Neal.” She begged. "I told you he wouldn

Cathy lay on her bed and stared at the intricate designs in the ceiling. She sighed. She had no zeal whatsoever to get out of bed and she couldn't even sleep to escape the doom that the day held.It was Saturday and she wished the meeting would happen without her. She knew it would all go down the drain, they'll be pushed off the power pedestal. But she didn't want to be there when it'd all go down. Knowing that it would happen and hearing that it did was enough worry for her.She was still on her bed, wondering if it would be a good idea to drive somewhere until the meeting was over when she heard a knock on her room's door. She didn't respond for the first few seconds, hoping the knocker would go away. But as expected, her family members were relentless and they kept knocking.“The door is open," she said dryly.Immediately after the gentle click of the door echoed in the room, her mother's gasp followed."Cathy!" She called urgently as she hurried to the bed. “Why are you still

Cathy glanced out the floor to ceiling glass window in her office with a sigh. The sky had grown dark, stars scattered across it and she was yet to leave work. She turned back to her lit desktop before her. It was just a few hours to her family's meeting and she was yet to work out a way to cover the money. She sighed as she began to pack her bag. Drowning in work would not make the meeting day farther nor would it provide the money immediately. She had to reassess her options. On the drive home, she dropped by Moise's place again. He must have returned from wherever he went, she thought to herself as she parked before his gate. The streetlights on either side of the driveway illuminated the security as he walked up to Cathy's car.“Hello, ma'am,” he greeted with a nod.Cathy responded to his greeting with a smile. “I want to see Moise.”“He traveled, ma'am. He left just this morning.”Cathy frowned. Was that why he was in such a hurry that morning that he didn't see her? Where cou

"Just wanted to inform you before I leave for work," Amber said as she hung her bag on her shoulder.Neal nodded. “Thank you. Have a nice day at work." "And you too, have fun in school," Amber smiled. After Amber left, Neal finished dressing up and headed out.Just as he alighted from the bus that brought him to school, Yvonne's call came in.Neal picked up as he made his way through the school gate.“Hey Neal," Yvonne said."Yvonne, how're you? Do you miss me again?" Yvonne let out a melodious sound when she laughed. “Flatter yourself. I just called to remind you of our dinner. I hope your classes haven't been so hectic that you've forgotten?”“Never,” Neal said. “No matter how hectic classes become, even life itself, I'll never forget a plan with you.”Yvonne sighed. “You have your way with
