Chapter Three: Life Has Been Unfair

Seconds turned into minutes as minutes turned into hours . Nicolas could not keep count of the time as he laid on the cold hard floor wailing silently in pain .

He was left alone with no help nor any form of first aid item . Clinton made sure to instruct his guards to carry the first aid kit .

Leaving him in pain with no aid at his disposal . After a long while Nicolas woke up embraced by the darkness. Although his eyes were wide open he still couldn’t see a thing . It was at that very moment that Nicolas understood the situation he is in .

He realized that Clara betrayed and humiliated him .

His whole world felt like it was crumbling around him.

He had always trusted Clara , and had always believed they were meant to be together. But now, he felt betrayed, angry, and alone. And worst of all, he felt like a fool. How could he have been so blind? How could he have missed the signs?

She cheated on him because he did not have money . This is the same reason why his biological mother left his father twenty years ago.

Will history continue to repeat itself he thought.

The world really revolves around the rich . This is undoubtedly the second worst day of his life .

The pain he felt is family with the one he felt the day his mother left him with his abusive father .

He could remember her saying she will leave him with the devil after all he is the devil’s son .

Indeed Nicolas' father was the devil in human form who finds pleasure in people's pain and suffering, his wife and son not an exception .

He was known to show no mercy to anyone, not even his own family . A man with a heart full of evil .

Nicolas was only five years old when his mother left him , leaving him to be raised by his father, a stern and unyielding man who cared little for his son's feelings. As Nicolas grew up, he was subjected to his father's constant criticism and emotional and physical abuse . No matter how hard he tried, he could never seem to please his father or earn his love.

His father would often beat him for the slightest infraction, leaving Nicolas feeling scared and alone. In time, Nicolas learned to keep his head down and avoid his father as much as possible, spending his days lost in books or wandering the streets alone.

Nicolas’ father was a strict disciplinarian who believed that technology, friends, and any sort of indulgence were nothing but distractions from his son's life . He forbade Nicolas from owning a television, a radio, or even a mobile phone. He also discouraged Marcus from spending time with other children, and wouldn't allow him to have sleepovers or attend birthday parties.

Even sweets were off the table, as his father believed they would only serve to spoil his son. In time, Nicolas began to feel isolated and lonely, with little to look forward to in his life besides house chores and the occasional book.

Nicolas doesn't seem to understand while he has to be the one suffering this way .

Since his childhood he has known nothing but pain , betrayal and suffering. He can’t help but notice how life has been unfair to him .

He doesn’t deserve this . As this thought rang through him Nicolas made a decision to end his life .

Wincing in pain he was able to get up from the floor and headed for the exit door with one thought in his mind to end his life .

Nicolas decided to choose the perfect spot to end his life that is the lake located at the out risk of the city . It is the only place he has truly been happy . With a lot of groaning and pain he dragged himself all the way to the lake not minding the torture he is giving himself . After all, it will all be over soon . He will wipe his existence from this world. Soon after some minutes he arrived at the lake side .

As Nicolas sat by the lake, he remembered the last time he had been truly happy. It was the summer before his mother left him with his that for another man and they had spent the day playing by the water. He remembered how the sun had reflected off the surface of the lake, and how his mother had laughed as they splashed each other.

He thought of the years that had passed since then, and of all the sadness and loneliness that had come to define his life. But then, he thought of another day by the lake, the day he had met his fiancée.

He also met Clara at this very same lake . She was humming the melody of a very old country song . Oh how she looked like and angel that very day .

At first, the memories of his mother and fiancée had been comforting to Nicolas But then, a darker thought crept into his mind: the memory of his fiancée's betrayal. It was like a punch to the gut, and he felt his mood darken as the memories of happier times were replaced by feelings of anger and sadness.

His fiancée had betrayed him in the worst possible way, and the wound was still raw. As he sat by the lake, the pain and anger threatened to overwhelm him.

As Nicolas walked to the edge of the lake, he was overcome with despair. He felt like he had nothing left to live for, and that ending his life was the only way to escape the pain and heartbreak he felt.

But just as he was about to take the plunge, he heard a voice behind him. "Stop! don't , don't do this!" It was a man voice , and sounded genuinely authoritative

So, when Nicolas turned around, it wasn't just any man behind him - it was a man in a police uniform. The officer looked at Marcus with a stern expression and said, "Sir, you can't do this. You have so much to live for, and there are people who care about you." Marcus was shocked to hear these words, and he felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe the officer was right. Maybe he did have something to live for. But the next words he heard shocked him
