Ryan had to do something. He couldn’t let the bearded man send his picture to anyone else. He had to stop it before his picture spread and his old identity was exposed.

But what?

He was on the brink of a mental breakdown in the middle of his father-in-law’s birthday party. And then–

TEETS.

What were the abilities TEETS gave him again?

A mechanical voice resounded in his head, followed by the reappearance of the transparent black panel with gold lines as a frame.

He had no chance to try his abilities yet, but if it was real and not only his imagination, it’d be a big help. Of course, his luck would also play a role here. If his picture was already sent and someone else recognized him, then it’d be the end of Ryan Wilder.

With that in mind, he followed the bearded man with his eyes as the party went on.

Time passed like a breeze. There was no more incident, and Ryan was saved from the even organizer manager’s wrath as they got busy with the party. He also spotted Ashton Bogart’s smug face amongst Violet’s friends, but Ryan managed to stay under the radar.

Once the party ended and the guests slowly decreased in number, Ryan trailed behind the bearded man earlier. No one noticed him from his experience of staying in the shadow – a skill he acquired in childhood to escape his father’s attention.

Turned out the bearded man would stay in the city and have booked a presidential suite in this hotel. What a coincidence.

Ryan followed the bearded man, still in the waiter’s uniform. While on the other elevator, Violet texted him.

‘Mom wants to go home.’

It was clear that they expected him to be there with the car waiting. But he couldn’t. He texted back.

‘My stomach hurt. I’m in the toilet.’

That particular sentence would make Violet scrunch her nose in disgust. She acted like going to the bathroom to poop was disgusting, but that was just human nature. Every healthy person would do so.

‘Disgusting!’ True to his guess, she simply commented that. But her message continued. ‘We’re leaving.’

Figured.

He left the car keys to a valet, so they could go back without him.

The elevator dinged and opened for him. There were only two big doors on his left and right. Golden Tree was a five-star hotel, so a presidential suite was a must. He found three CCTV cameras on the top floor of the hotel. One to record who was going in and out of the elevator, and two cameras in the hallway pointing to each presidential suite.

Ryan’s presence there would be suspicious if he wasn’t wearing the waiter uniform and pushing on a service food cart with plenty of the party’s snacks and bottles. He came prepared.

Stopping before the door, he knocked once. When there was no answer from inside, he knocked again. After waiting for a few seconds, he touched the door’s handle.

The presidential suite’s door opened without a sound. The bearded man must stay in this room, then. He just had to make sure that the bearded man didn’t see his face.

Slowly pushing on the service cart, he stepped inside. As expected, the room was spacious and high-class. That didn’t impress him one bit.

Thankfully, the open living room and study room were empty. There was no running water heard, so the bathroom was unoccupied. Or it had very good soundproofing, but he’d put his cents on the former guess.

Ryan left the service cart there and closed the door. Walking on tiptoes, he slowly made his way to locate the bearded man’s phone without being found. It was nowhere to be seen, so the bedroom was the only room left to search. He must bring his phone to sleep.

True to his guess, the bedroom door was opened by a jar, and he saw a pair of leather shoes on the bed. The bearded man was sound asleep. His phone sat on the nightstand, currently being charged.

With the lightest step he could muster, Ryan lowered his body and went to pick up the phone. He glanced at the sleeping bearded man on the bed to make sure he was not noticed.

The phone was turned on but locked. Ryan tried to summon TEETS and did as it told them to use his abilities.

‘Unlock,’ he thought, and the phone unlocked itself in his hand.

[Unlock Lvl 1 activated.]

[Time Left: 59 minutes 59 seconds.]

The wallpaper greeting him was of the bearded man with a younger woman. It could be his daughter or his wife. But he wouldn’t cross the possibility that it could be his fuck buddy. He wasn’t here to scoop scandalous news.

Ryan clicked on the gallery icon and quickly found his picture. He deleted it without a second thought and then browsed through the chat application. Indeed, the bearded man had texted his daughter – not the woman in the wallpaper – and said he wanted to know if her boss looked like Ryan.

His daughter had not replied, but the ‘seen’ labelled under the message was worrying. He couldn’t do anything about it. Either way, he deleted that chat too.

Ryan breathed a sigh of relief. At least for now.

When he glanced to the bedroom and found that the bearded man was still asleep, Ryan contemplated for a moment. It could be his chance. His only chance to ever have one hundred million in one day. How else could he get it, hmm?

With that thought, Ryan bit his bottom lip and opened the bearded man’s mobile bank account.

[Unlock Lvl 1 activated.]

[Time Left: 54 minutes 23 seconds.]

He got time.

As his ‘Unlock’ ability was still in use, Ryan easily accessed the bearded man’s bank account.

Holy shit.

$388.728.000 was in the bearded man’s account, waiting for him to steal.

Ryan transferred the amount of money as TEETS’ order to his own bank account. The ‘$69’ on his account soon transformed into ‘$100.000.069’ in a blink of an eye.

Peeep!

[Congratulations!]

[You have completed Mission Face-slapping Son-in-Law.]

[Rewarded Ability: Unlimited Balance Lvl 1.]

[Description: Allow Host to buy everything via online transaction.]

[Unlimited Balance Lvl 1 activated.]

Ryan squealed in excitement.

“Hhmm…” the bearded man on the bed moved.

‘Night Cloak!’

[Night Cloak Lvl 1 activated.]

[Time Left: 59 minutes 59 seconds.]

Ryan held his breath, eyes widened as he dreaded what the bearded man would do.

He didn’t do anything except search for something with half-closed eyes. “Where’s my phone…”

The phone was still in Ryan’s hand. He gripped it tightly, scared that the bearded man would see it. He would see Ryan – a complete stranger/ party waiter in his presidential suite while he slept.

“I swear…” the bearded man made an effort to get up and looked around for his phone around the bedroom.

Ryan truly had become invisible. He was standing just a few feet from the nightstand drawer, and the bearded man didn’t see him. TEETS was amazing!

When the bearded man headed to the main room, Ryan breathed a sigh of relief and looked at his phone. He quickly transferred the money back to the bearded man’s account, as he didn’t want to steal anything. He also wrote a note, ‘It seems that you have transferred your money to the wrong person. I’ve transferred it back to you.’

Then, he placed the bearded man’s phone back on the nightstand drawer and went to the main room. The stranger was still looking around, blind to Ryan’s very existence in the suite with him.

After about five minutes of searching, the bearded man looked around his bedroom again. He found that his phone was innocently plugged into the nightstand drawer, charging its battery. “What the… I hate being old.”

Ryan used that moment to slip through the door, grabbing the service food cart before closing the door again before the bearded man noticed something. Thankfully, the door didn’t make a sound when he pulled it, unlike his own bedroom door.

He couldn’t contain his excitement anymore.

‘Hey, TEETS, can I really buy everything I want as long as it’s via online?’ He thought as he rode the elevator to the basement.

[Yes.]

[With the Ability – Unlimited Balance Lvl 1, Host may buy whatever Host desires as long as the seller accepts online payment. TEETS will handle all transactions.]

Ryan chuckled. ‘That’s the best thing ever!’

[Yes.]

[TEETS’ only reason to be here is to help Hpst achieve his goal.]

‘Can I use it now?’

[Yes.]

[Unlimited Balance Lvl 1 is a passive Ability.]

‘Passive ability?’

[It means Host does not have to activate Unlimited Balance Ability whenever Host wants to buy something. It is already activated and will always be active until TEETS disconnect from the Host.]

‘Oh?’ Ryan didn’t waste his time. ‘Then buy me something so I can go back to the Crowne family’s residence before the dawn.’

[Understood.]

[Transaction on process.]

[Please wait for a minute.]

[Transaction success!]

[Robinson R44 Raven II will be delivered by air five minutes from now.]

[Please wait for a moment.]

‘Wait, what did you buy?’

[A helicopter.]

‘A what?!’

There were no windows except for the small one at the door, which barely showed into the hallway. He had long lost count of the hours he had been held inside this room since he arrived. He felt tired and broken in more ways than one, but he was managing, and that is all he could do right now.He just needed to hold out a little longer.Just a little longer.Shifting his gaze at the paper before him, it did not take long to realize that no one here was ever on his side to begin with. Telling the truth did not matter. Everyone believed he was a murderer. He was guilty the moment he was arrested, and they made that very clear after trying to repeatedly beat him into signing the confession, making sure to avoid his face. Anything that his prison uniform did cover, they beat until they

The interrogation room was well air-conditioned, it was supposed to be cold. Yet, Ryan couldn’t feel anything but stifling heat from deep within his chest. He felt rage, more than fear or puzzlement at this point. There was only one person who could and would frame him, but getting everyone to believe was hard. Almost impossible, even.Leaning back in his chair, Detective Pierce continued, "Let me tell you the short version of what I think happened. You murdered Jorge and left Edric for dead. You left straight from the party to the airport, trying to flee the scene of the crime.""That's ridiculous.""Why else would you leave Seattle in such a hurry? Were you planning to leave the country next?"Glaring, Ryan griped out a resounding, "No, I simply went home. If I wanted to run, I'd go anywhere but there, wouldn't you think?""It's not far-fetched for you to gather your things and prepare to disappear for good. You wanted revenge for your father's death and you wanted to take down the

"To Seattle's police jurisdiction. Now stop talking and walk."Following the orders to move, Ryan was taken to a small check-in station where an officer forcefully dipped each of his fingers in black ink, printing each digit on a white paper document.Once they were finished, he was escorted into another area, which was equipped with a digital camera and a large backdrop against the wall that was marked with varying heights. He inwardly sighed as he was given a small blackboard with his name to hold up.An officer instructed him to stand up straight and look towards the camera. He flinched as the flash sounded and wa

  • 151. Fight Against Luck

Violet was ready to fight him. She had trained in several martial arts and mastered them for self-defense against harmful men like him. Rendering Edric useless was an easy task. She had almost done that months ago, when he was still playing with his old dog. Come to think of it, where was that old dog of his again? Violet’s blue eyes were focused as she shifted into a defensive stance, her lithe frame ready for action. On the other hand, Edric appeared remarkably nonchalant, sitting at a table with a book and a wide grin on his face as if he knew something Violet didn’t. The first move came from the infamous actress. Her movements were swift and precise, as she had aimed a roundhouse kick at Edric’s head. The red dress with high open slit at her tight created a beautiful motion picture, if one were to enjoy it. Sadly, the circumstance was not fit for such approval. However, just as Violet’s foot was about to connect with Edric’s head, a stack of books toppled over, and he stumble
