The beeping sound from the electrocardiogram heart rate dictator, bleeped repeatedly, and Damien's fingers twitched a bit as his eyes gradually rolled open.
"Where am I?" Damien muttered silently, his gaze darting around the room, and the entire place felt more like a hospital. The equipment around him got him baffled, adding with the bandages wrapped around his body. And just then a feminine voice desperately sounded, the tone filled with disbelief. "Oh, thank goodness you are awake. It's a miracle," the woman gently said. Damien tried to stand, but the woman walked forward and gently pushed him back onto the bed. "Please, it's advisable you don't force your body up from this bed for now." Damien stared at the woman, then he asked, "Please, where am I?" "You are in a hospital and my name is nurse Stefani. You got into an accident a few days back, you broke your ribs and some bones in your body. It was unbelievable you survived, I thought you would never wake up," the woman explained, stunned. "Accident?" Damien muttered the words inwardly as his thoughts tried to drift back. And just then he remembered what had happened last. Indeed, he was involved in a very terrible accident, and also, he could recall the voice in his head before his view snapped blank. "Your condition is severe, but thank goodness you are recovering fast, and if this good improvement keeps on, you will be discharged from the hospital in three weeks time," the woman calmly said. Damien nodded, and so the nurse walked out of the room. Damien lay silently on the bed, his thoughts drifting back and forth. It was hard for him to believe how everything happened so fast and sudden. He was on his bike and the next thing he was on the ground and then the translucent screen with a mechanical voice on his head. But there was something that stung him the most among all, the betrayal and humiliation he got from the girl he loved. "Damn that bitch, you must pay for what you have done to me," Damien cursed under his breath. And just then... The translucent screen, which had appeared in his view previously, suddenly snapped into view just in front of him with a text floating mid air, and just after that, a mechanical voice followed by. [Host, first task: becoming a taxi driver. Upon completing any successful orders from a customer, host will be rewarded with points, and points would be converted to currencies and immediately deposited into host's account.] Damien stared at the text on the screen, confusion could be seen all over his face. He was stunned as to what the translucent screen in front of him was implying or what it was really about. Though he played games and had watched movies about systems, the last thing he could expect was him having it. It felt like a dream to him. “This is unbelievable, hope is not what I'm thinking, does this mean I have awaken a system within me…?” Damien's jaw almost fell off, the feelings were just so overwhelming for him to contain. "So the system wants me to become a taxi driver?" He mused. "How am I supposed to do that? I don't have a car, neither have any money to buy a car. How is this supposed to be possible?" The thought of him being a taxi driver baffled him. He had no savings, he had no where he could have a sudden income to afford a car as low as the most cheapest in the market for a taxi job. And while Damien was struggling with his thoughts, another text prompted out on the translucent screen with the same mechanical voice. [Host is automatically registered on the WikWik app. The more orders host receives to pick up customers, the more rewards and points host would get.] Damien knew of the WikWik app. It was an app mainly for taxi drivers, where customers could order rides from anywhere. "I don't remember registering for the WikWik app," Damien thought inwardly. [Ding! First orders placed, and host is required to attend to orders to avoid points being deducted. Apart from that, a penalty from the system will be tendered to host if host fails to attend to orders or making sure it ends successfully. Additionally, when hosts get good reviews and ratings from customers, host will have the chance to get higher rewards." And after the translucent voice spoke out, Damien felt his phone buzz just beside him. He shifted his gaze and was stunned at how the phone got here. If he had had an accident while on the road, wouldn't his phone be supposed to be shattered? The thought ran through Damien's mind, but that wouldn't solve the problem at the moment, neither give him answers to his questions. Damien stretched his hands and picked the phone, but noticed the phone was untouched, no scratch could be found. He then tapped the screen of his phone and the light displayed, and just at the top of his screen, he saw a notification from the WikWik app. "When did I d******d the app?" Damien was stunned. He could fully remember that he didn't have the WikWik app on his phone and was surprised at how the app automatically downloaded. He opened the app, and just there, an order was placed: Sinclair Cooperation, Building 533, North Atlanta. Damien stared, confused. [Host is required to pick up customer on time to avoid penalty from the system.] And another text from the translucent screen prompted out. Damien looked up to the translucent floating screen. "I don't have a car, how am I supposed to do that?" he questioned. And just then another message prompted out… [Host is required to pick up a car waiting outside which he would use for the job as a wikwik driver. Turn right at the side of a pole; host would find the key on the ground.] The system informed Damien. Damien stared at the text. “A car?” He mused, trying not to believe. Damien gradually stood from the bed he was laid on, and beside him was a suit, cloth cleanly ironed and arranged. "How did this get here? Or could the nurse have dropped it here for me?" Damien wondered aloud. Without thinking too much, because at this point everything felt unrealistic to him as if he was inside a game. He put on the clothes, and just as he was about to head out the door, the door swung open, and the nurse who had gone out earlier stood staring at Damien with disbelief. "How… how were you able to stand?" she stuttered, "And where did those clothes come from?" It was hard for the nurse to believe what she was seeing. She could remember that the man's condition was critical, and seeing him now standing and walking like nothing had happened to him got her stunned. Without saying a word, apart from smiling at the woman, Damien walked out the door. On reaching outside, his eyes caught up to a black limited edition Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, parked outside. The aura from the car felt so overwhelming, it black colour and the way it gleamed was so intimidatingly catching to the eye that it felt like a leopard locking to its prey. The car was just a few distance away from Damien and he was immediately drawn by the perfection.

Table Turned
“Shit, I’m late! I have to get dressed and head out.”Damien’s voice was filled with panic. He thought back to how things used to be—waking up early, getting ready, and heading to work.Just then, his phone began to ring, he picked it up to check who was calling and to his greatest surprise, it was his boss, Alaric, calling. Damien hesitated for a moment before answering the call. If I see your legs anywhere near this company, I swear I’ll break them!” Alaric warned, then ended the call.Damien stared at the phone, stunned, he took a deep breath into his lungs then exhaled.“Why should I be bothered about what he had said? She Thought I Would Never Pay
Damien walked through the stairs, moving upward until he reached his specific room door, room number 20. The apartment was less expensive, and the cost of living there was unbearable, the stench smell from pipes and adding with stagnant water from the drainage made everything worse, which is part of the reason the rent was so much affordable. And even with that, Damien still finds it difficult to pay off his rent, due to his low monthly income. He gently pushed the door open then stepped inside. His room looked so messed up as usual; he doesn’t have time to keep it tidy due to the work loads he gets everyday from the company he works for. Sometimes Damien comes home very late and stressed, barely has time to shower, and ends up sleeping with his clothes on. Just after some minutes, Damien’s door began banging hard, he flinched from its impact. It was as if the person wanted to break through the door. “Who could that be?”Damien wondered, startled. “Open this goddamn door befor

I would love that.” Then he rode away.Lucia got into the mansion, and her mother, Fiona, walked down the stairs, staring and giving her a knowingly smile. Lucia raised a brow, stunned, as to why her mother was smiling tauntingly at her. “Who is that good-looking handsome man that drops you off, his car is such an expensive car, Lucia?”Lucia sighed. She knew what was already coming, and she wasn’t ready for the sweet talks from her mother.“Mum, not now. I’m so stressed to the bone. I need to get some rest.”Just then, Lucas, h
