“Shit, I’m late! I have to get dressed and head out.”

Damien’s voice was filled with panic. He thought back to how things used to be—waking up early, getting ready, and heading to work.

Just then, his phone began to ring, he picked it up to check who was calling and to his greatest surprise, it was his boss, Alaric, calling.

Damien hesitated for a moment before answering the call. And the second he did, Alaric’s furious voice exploded through the speaker, making Damien snap and pushing the phone away from his ears.

“You bastard! You’re fired. If I see your legs anywhere near this company, I swear I’ll break them!” Alaric warned, then ended the call.

Damien stared at the phone, stunned, he took a deep breath into his lungs then exhaled.

“Why should I be bothered about what he had said? I almost forgot I have something that could give me millions in just completing random tasks. Why would I need that stupid delivery job?”

Damien scoffed.

As he was still indulging in his prideful thoughts, the system translucent screen snapped mid air, with another message.

[Second task loading…]

[Loading Successful….]

[Host has received another order from the Wikwik app. Host is required to pick up the customer, and after successfully executing the task, host will be rewarded with points.]

Damien smirked.

“I was just wondering when my system would offer me another task—and here it is.”

He walked out of his apartment. This time, he wasn’t wearing the suit he had used yesterday due to some few reasons. He fell asleep last night while still wearing the suit on his body.

The suit ended up getting wrinkled and smelled terribly, so Damien decided to wear one of his previously worn outfits. At least it wasn’t smelling bad, just… worn and a little bit tattered.

He headed down the stairs and out to where he had parked the Lamborghini Veneno roadster, only to find a few other girls taking pictures in front of it. Among them was Emilia, his landlady’s daughter, rude, sharp mouth and always looked down on Damien.

Damien approached, but wouldn’t want to interrupt their pictures. So he waited patiently for some moment while they continued taking pictures, and this seemed to last forever.

Growing impatient—he didn’t want to risk any penalties from his system, so he decided to interrupt as he finally spoke out, sounding calm and gentle.

“Please, sorry for interrupting your picture, but I need to get inside my car.”

The scornful look Emilia shot at Damien felt like being spat on the face.

“Are you here to ruin our picture with your awful disgusting appearance?” Emilia snapped, eyeing Damien. “Because I see no reason for you getting close to me. What’s your problem?” she added.

Damien sighed deeply.

“Please, I have no time exchanging words with you.  I’ve got something very important to do, which is why I need to get into my car.”

Damien’s words were calm, trying his possible best not to exchange words with Emilia, he knew her personality, she has no manners. But it looks like Emilia was already getting entertained and wants to buy more trouble from Damien.

She had this mentality that no matter what she does to Damien he has no right to do anything to her, because of the debt he owes.

“What did you say? Did I just hear you call your car?” Emilia laughed sarcastically. “Are you trying to make a joke here? What do you even take us for? Bunch of fools or what? So you think we don’t know how your life is so miserable that even to feed is difficult for you. Let alone paying house rent.”

“What are you trying to prove here? Your miserable life?” one of her friends asked mockingly. “Look at this broke bastard, looking so tattered from head to toe, and yet have the gut to say this car belongs to him. How on earth could he afford something like this? This is a limited edition Lamborghini veneno roadster. Are you trying to lie to us just to catch some spotlight?”

Damien stayed silent, just staring without saying a word.

“If he’s really the owner, then let him get in. The real owner should have the private key. The door won’t open without it, right?” Emilia friend suggested.

“Heh! That’s right,” Emilia scoffed, stepping aside so Damien could “prove” it.

She knew Damien was so poor he could barely pay his rent or utility bills. Seeing him claim ownership of a luxury car worth more than five million dollars felt like a personal insult.

Damien stepped forward, took out the key, and pressed it. In an instant, the car’s locks clicked open and the door gracefully opened.

Emilia’s mouth fell open in disbelief. Her friend, who had been holding the camera, dropped it to the ground out of shock.

Damien got into the car under their stunned gazes. He started the engine, ready to pull away, when Emilia’s voice cut in.

“How on earth were you able to afford that?” she demanded.

“Maybe when you get rich, you’ll find out,” Damien replied coldly, then drove off.

The girls stood frozen. Apart from being handsome, Damien had always been known as a good-for-nothing broke guy struggling to feed himself. How had he gotten rich so quickly?

Emilia remembered the last time she’d seen Damien—he looking so miserable, clueless, and worst of all, she previously spotted him buying food from one of the cheapest street vendors in the city, where a meal cost less than two dollars.

“—”

Damien picked up his phone to check the address of the person he was supposed to pick up. Opening the Wikwik app, he read it aloud:

Lunapeek Estate, Street Number 2345, Location: West Atlanta, opposite Green Qui Beach.

Damien stared at the address, instantly recognizing it. This was the exact place where he had delivered condoms last time—and the same apartment where he caught his girlfriend cheating on him.

  • She Thought I Would Never Pay

Damien walked through the stairs, moving upward until he reached his specific room door, room number 20. The apartment was less expensive, and the cost of living there was unbearable, the stench smell from pipes and adding with stagnant water from the drainage made everything worse, which is part of the reason the rent was so much affordable. And even with that, Damien still finds it difficult to pay off his rent, due to his low monthly income. He gently pushed the door open then stepped inside. His room looked so messed up as usual; he doesn’t have time to keep it tidy due to the work loads he gets everyday from the company he works for. Sometimes Damien comes home very late and stressed, barely has time to shower, and ends up sleeping with his clothes on. Just after some minutes, Damien’s door began banging hard, he flinched from its impact. It was as if the person wanted to break through the door. “Who could that be?”Damien wondered, startled. “Open this goddamn door befor

I would love that.” Then he rode away.Lucia got into the mansion, and her mother, Fiona, walked down the stairs, staring and giving her a knowingly smile. Lucia raised a brow, stunned, as to why her mother was smiling tauntingly at her. “Who is that good-looking handsome man that drops you off, his car is such an expensive car, Lucia?”Lucia sighed. She knew what was already coming, and she wasn’t ready for the sweet talks from her mother.“Mum, not now. I’m so stressed to the bone. I need to get some rest.”Just then, Lucas, h
