The man who had his foot on Gabriel's neck finally moved his foot. In a matter of seconds, various kicks landed on Gabriel's body. They all attacked him at once.

"Enough, enough!" one of the men shouted, making them stop beating Gabriel.

"Look, he's almost dying."

"Is it possible that he's dead?"

A man crouched down and put his finger under Gabriel's nostrils to check his breathing. "No mate, he is still alive!"

"Good! Alexis ordered us to beat him, not kill him. Now we better get out of here before anyone sees us."

“Wait, wait!” One of them went back to Gabriel again and reached into his pocket. He managed to find his phone and took it.

“It would be better if we destroyed his phone too.” He immediately threw Gabriel’s phone to the ground and stepped on it until it was destroyed.

After that, they rushed to start their bike's engine and drove away.

Gabriel's eyes opened slowly. Silence and darkness greeted him. There was only the sound of insects whistling in his ears.

"Are they all gone?" Gabriel muttered. His voice was barely above a whisper.

With a weak body, he tried to stand on his feet.

"What is this?" Seeing his broken phone, Gabriel was shocked and upset. "My phone! it must've done by those bastards!" He picked it up and took the broken thing with him, hoping that the repair shop would still be able to handle it.

Enduring all the pain, Gabriel stepped away from that place.

"Please, help me!"

"Is there anyone here?" Gabriel called for help hoping that someone would pass by. But it seemed like no one would help him because the road was an alternative one that was rarely used by people.

Gabriel's body staggered, he almost fell into the bushes. "Rather than suffering like this, why don't they just kill me?" he grumbled pessimistically.

Suddenly, a car passed and blocked him. Gabriel stopped in his tracks and stared at the car. His eyes widened when he realized that the vehicle was similar to Alexis', a Rolls Royce Ghost.

"Isn't he satisfied with what he did? Why did he come here?" Gabriel muttered with fear and rage on his face.

Gabriel's expression changed when he saw an old man alighted from the luxury car, followed by 2 men wearing dark glasses and dressed all in black.

With the glare of the car, Gabriel could see quite clearly the face of the dignified old man. Gabriel frowned, wondering who the old man was.

The three men walked over to Gabriel, then they bowed their bodies in front of him.

"Young master, forgive us for surprising you. But we are so glad to find you here. My name is Richard Dutton and I am a butler of the Ashton family. Your father—” Before the old man could finish his sentence, Gabriel fell to the ground.

“Young master!” Richard shouted in panic. “Quickly get the young master into the car!” he ordered his two bodyguards.

They quickly got Gabriel into the car and drove off.

In a VIP room in the hospital, a middle-aged man was sitting beside Gabriel’s bed. He stared at Gabriel with worry written all over his face. Since last night, Gabriel had been unconscious.

A knock on the door distracted the middle-aged man. A woman’s voice was heard from behind the door.

“Excuse me, Mr. Herbert, we have come to deliver breakfast and check on Mr. Gabriel.”

The man replied. “Come in.”

The door swung open revealing a doctor and nurse entering the room. The nurse placed Gabriel’s breakfast on the table. Meanwhile, the doctor approached Gabriel’s bed and checked on him.

With a worried expression, the man spoke. “Doctor, is he okay? He hasn’t been conscious since last night. I’m really worried about him. Please do your best, even if it costs my life, then do it.” Sincerity was clearly visible in his tone.

The doctor’s tense expression turned into a sigh of relief. He turned his gaze to the man. “Don’t worry, Mr. Herbert, he is fine. Thank goodness there are no serious internal injuries. His body needs time to rest because it is still in shock from what happened to him last night,” he explained with a reassuring smile.

Herbert sighed in relief. He looked at Gabriel with hope in his eyes. “Thank goodness, I hope he can wake up soon.”

He placed his hand on Gabriel’s hand while whispering. “I’m sorry, Gabriel, I haven’t been with you for years. You must have gone through a lot of hard things in your life. Now I come back to you to pay for all your suffering. Please wake up, Gabriel; let me pay for all my mistakes. Please wake up,” he begged with tears streaming down his cheeks.

The doctor and nurse looked at each other, touched by the sight before them.

Suddenly, Gabriel’s fingers moved. Herbert felt the movement beneath his fingers, and he immediately gripped Gabriel’s hand tighter. A glimmer of hope appeared on his face.

“Doctor, his fingers are moving!” Herbert exclaimed excitedly.

The doctor smiled in relief seeing Gabriel’s progress. “Yes Mr. Herbert, I saw it! I’m sure he’ll wake up soon,” he replied.

Gabriel’s eyelids moved, and his eyes slowly opened. His gaze was greeted by the sight of a middle-aged man, a doctor, and a nurse. He turned his gaze to his surroundings and saw the ceiling of a luxurious hospital room.

“Am I in a hospital now?” Gabriel muttered in confusion. “Who brought me here?” He kept muttering.

“Gabriel.” Herbert’s voice distracted Gabriel’s gaze. He rubbed Gabriel's hands, and then placed it on his cheek.

“Gabriel, God must be watching us,” Herbert said in a soft voice.

Gabriel could feel the man’s tears flowing between his fingers. He had no idea who the man was and why he was crying for him.

Everyone seemed excited and eager to watch the match, except Louis and Joseph, who were still worried about Gabriel.Louis tried to call Gabriel, but there was no answer."What happened to him? Maybe he went home early?" Joseph stated as he let out a heavy sigh."He didn't answer my call. But the call connected, so I guess he must be somewhere, either still in this building or back at the dorm," Louis replied."I think his idea was a bit crazy. How could the organizers allow him to join as a contestant? He doesn't even have any experience as a fighter," Joseph stated."Do you think the event manager took Gabriel somewhere?" Louis surmised. The emcee's announcement of the 12 fighters' arrival on stage diverted their attention. The contestants wer

  • Chapter 213 - The Test

The manager led Gabriel into a room. The door opened, and Gabriel met the sharp gazes of two big men inside. The two men greeted the manager.“Good evening, sir, why are you here with that man? Who is he?” one of the men asked. The manager smiled faintly as he introduced Gabriel to them. “His name is Gabriel, and he came here to participate. I already told him he wasn’t fit to be a participant in this event, but he insisted. Therefore, I will give him a chance to show his abilities here,” he explained. The men grinned as they stared at Gabriel with disdain. Gabriel might be an athletic young man, but his boldness was amusing to them.Gabriel remained unfazed. He wore a calm expression, with no trace of worry or fear on his face.“So, what should we do?” one of the men asked.“Gabriel will face you two, and if he defeats you, he will be allowed to participate in this match,” the manager explained. The men huffed and mocked."I hope this boy won't come home with regrets.""Before we bea

  • Chapter 212 - A Difficult Registration

Mr. Nowak chuckled as he stared at Gabriel. “You are such a funny person, Gabriel. I know you are being blinded by the 200,000-dollar prize.” He thought Gabriel was just joking.“Well, I’m very serious about this, sir. I’d like to join this, not for the prize, but for the adrenaline. I want to see if I can fight those fighters,” Gabriel stated with a firm resolve.Worry appeared on Mr. Nowak’s face. He had been watching matches like this for over a decade every year, so he could tell what the situation was like inside. There had never been a young man competing, or even an amateur fighter competing in the arena.“Gabriel, you are such an amateur young man. I know you are athletic now, but that doesn’t mean you are fit to participate in the event. It’s too dangerous for you,” stated Mr. Nowak in concern.Meanwhile, Joseph and Louis said nothing. They would support whatever decision Gabriel made. Gabriel let out a reassuring smile as he spoke. “Don’t worry, sir, I’ll be okay, I promise.

“Sabrina Locke? Is that a doctor’s daughter?” Louis responded.Sabrina was a popular student, and although Louis hadn’t been in the same class with her, he knew her.“Yeah, her dad is a doctor. When I was about to go into the manager’s office, she suddenly came out crying. She said she was laid off, but when I asked further, she just left without giving me an answer,” Joseph explained.Gabriel’s frown deepened. He was worried that Sabrina would tell Joseph about the incident two days earlier at the hospital. “So, she didn’t say anything more about why she got fired?” he asked.“No, she didn’t.”Gabriel breathed a sigh of relief. Although Sabrina had no idea of his true identity, the story of her being fired due to Gabriel’s report could have aroused suspicion among his friends. Luckily, she didn’t tell Joseph.“Okay, guys, you better get ready because I’ll be back at the dorm soon, and after that, we’re going to a fried chicken restaurant,” Joseph instructed, and then the call ended.

  • Chapter 210 - A New Employee

Joseph exchanged glances with the lady, expressions of surprise clearly written on their faces. The lady who had just emerged from the manager's office was none other than Sabrina Locke. She wiped her tears as she asked Joseph in wonder.Joseph and Sabrina were in the same class in junior high school. He was known as the nerd boy in class. But at that time, Joseph and Gabriel weren't yet friends despite attending the same high school."Jo-Joseph? What are you doing here?"In a steady, calm voice, he answered. "I'm going to attend a job interview at this company as a consultant."Sabrina's jaw dropped as her eyes widened in shock. "What the hell! So they fired me and want someone like you to replace me?"He frowned, unable to comprehend what Sabrina was saying. "Wait, wait, what do you mean? Did you ever work here as a consultant or something?"Sabrina wanted to rant, but it felt futile because the manager wouldn't reconsider his decision. With a huff, she walked past Joseph and bumped

  • Chapter 209 - The Star Task Office

Joseph frowned as he responded. “The Star Task? Are you kidding me? Are you referring to a company that is part of The Dragon Lord Group?"Gabriel nodded, though Joseph couldn’t see his gesture directly. “Yes! It seems you already know about that company, so the interview will go more smoothly,” he assured.Joseph sighed heavily. He seemed pessimistic about Gabriel’s offer, even though it sounded like a job at the company with a significant salary.“Gabriel, but I don’t think The Star Task will accept someone like me,” his words dripped with pessimism.“Why not? You haven’t even tried, so why be so pessimistic? Come on, Joseph, you have to try this opportunity! I’m rooting for you! I believe you can pass it.”Shaking off his hesitation, Joseph decided. “Okay, I’ll try applying there. Now what do I need to prepare? I need The Star Task’s email address to send my application.”"You don't have to do that. You can come there tomorrow at 4 p.m.," Gabriel explained."Are you serious? So I j
