"Did he just bring a fake card to this place?"

"And he did such a terrible job? I know it isn't a crime to be poor but to also be this dumb? It has to be a criminal offense."

Clinton however was still calm even with the hot accusations that were steaming off from the Crowd. He was an heir again and his composure was beyond this world.

"I think that you should check it out first before concluding."

These words got a raging outburst from the crowd once again. The lady almost gave him a slap across the face.

"You wish." She glared.

"If you think that I am going to fall for that little trick that you just pulled then you have to be the world's biggest joker."

She was already reaching out to her cellphone. She needed to get him out of the restaurant as soon as possible or it was going to ruin their reputation.

Meanwhile, someone just walked into the place and due to the argument that was involved, most people didn't even notice that someone so powerful had just walked in.

A man in his late twenties. He wore a white designer's business suit that was worth over a thousand dollars and his accessories were all carved from silver.

The card that laid on the floor has suddenly caught his attention. Glittering in the little dim light even at such a far distance.

His heart drummed and he reached out to the card and held it in his hands. A sense of familiarity ran through his senses with memories going through his head at the moment.

"It can't be." He stared at it closely.

He had always heard about the world's purple card that was able to hold over a dollar and never thought that he would be able to hold one all his life.

Only a handful of people knew about the existence of this card and only a dozen people had it. He was only able to know about it because of his friend that would rant about it and having seen it and even taken photos of it.

With all his big words, the appearance of this card had already been registered in Drake's head and he was sure he wasn't making any sort of mistakes.

'But how did it even get to that place?" Thoughts flushed through his head at the moment.

But there was even one more question that needed to be answered more than any other.

"Why would someone so powerful stoop so low to come to my hotel?" He thought.

Someone so powerful that was influential enough to get such a card could be able to buy his company one hundred times.

"If this person had dropped it here, then I would have to find them and appear nice to them. Maybe I would be able to win their favor." His hands were still clutched tightly to the card as the thoughts filled his head.

Mr. Drake was so lost in his thoughts that he did not notice the happenings that were happening around him.

The guards were already around and were ready to throw him out of this place. It was at this point that he noticed and he frowned deeply.

"What did they think that they were doing?"

A sudden fear already crept through his spine and his face broke out into cold sweat almost instantly.

'Could it be that the powerful figure that owed the card was there already? What if he had already witnessed all of this and that's the reason that he has left angrily in the first place.'

His hands were clenched harder however before he could speak, the waiter that seemed in charge of that place spoke.

"Director Drake." She said with a smile.

"What a lovely surprise! I was about to dispose of this trash that had been causing us a whole lot of trouble." She explained.

Clinton for once frowned.

"Someone causing trouble?" He frowned almost instantly as the thoughts crossed through his head.

The only thought that filled his mind was that someone had driven out a customer that could have taken his business to another level entirely.

"Director Drake?" The people gasped upon hearing this.

Who would not know the Director? He was not only the CEO of this flourishing restaurant that he had just recently established but also someone who had established Citigroup and the top hundred in the city.

Some now stared at Clinton with pity. There was no way that he was going to come out of this situation alive. It would be a privilege for him to rot in jail at this instant.

"Who dares to cause trouble in my turf?" His muscular voice raged through the room staring fear right into everyone except Clinton.

The grin on her face at the moment was almost reaching her ears as she pointed over to where Clinton was standing.

"That's the unfortunate fool." She pointed out with a sneer.

The Director was taken aback. Of the truth, he was expecting some arrogant rich fellow but standing right before him was someone that didn't even look like he would be able to hurt a fly.

"Director Drake, could you believe that the stone-brained arse gave me a fake purple card thinking that I was going to fall for jos tricks? However, I noticed the card and tossed it off." She said her praises hoping that she was going to get her boss to like her or at least earn her a promotion.

But the only thing that it did was get his heart frozen right on the spot. The purple card? It was owned by this man!

The fear that crept through his spine knew no bounds and he was even taken aback by it with a large gulp going down his throat at the same time.

His world was crumbling at the thought of it. It was ironic that the man that he wanted to seek cooperation with was about to be thrown out of the place.

"Mr. Drake I believe. I have to commend you for the fine customer reception that you have set in around here." Clinton commented sarcastically, sending another wave of cold shivers down his spine.

For the first time since he rose to this position, Director Drake was flustered and he sought words to explain himself without getting this young man upset or all his life work would definitely be destroyed in minutes..

He stared at his worker with a rising heat of hatred rising through his body. She was the cause of all this..

He sneered. Vowing that she was leaving his company together with that young, handsome, wealthy and powerful stranger.

He stuttered short of words of what he was going to say.

The people who thought that Clinton was going to crash to his knees after seeing such a powerful man were most stunned at the turnout of events.

"Did he have a death wish?" They exclaimed.

"Young Sir. Please pardon my staff. I...I had not trained her well." He apologized with a bow.

Everyone was stunned and they could not believe what had just happened right before them.

Throughout the city, Drake, popularly known as the self-made man was quite an arrogant one. Seeing him so submissive before someone made them livered. Where are they seeing right at this moment?

Tina, who had been pulled into a daze, soon snapped out of it. She thought that her boss had made a mistake and she had to help him as soon as possible.

Her hands were clenched tightly as she stepped forward with the rage shown in every step that she took forward.

She held onto his hands tightly and glared.

"What have you done to Dr. Drake? Tell me right away or I am going to skin you alive. Did you blackmail him, you arse hole." She fired

Clinton could not believe that she could get so violent. He tried to break free from her grip without hurting her but she came for him again.

"Get your hands off me." He snared tiredly.

Drake was already shaking and it felt like he was going to wet his pants any time soon. Why did it have to be a man who could make both of their lives crumble in only seconds? Why had she not picked someone else to bully?

He was already running out of patience and could not stand it anymore.

"Slap?" A slap rang in her ears getting every one of them confused.

Was Drake slapping his female worker all because of someone who was looking more like a dog

However, he didn't even stop there. While Tina's hands were still clutched to her aching face in disbelief he growled, letting out all the anger that he had been trying to bottle all this while.

"Do you even realize that this would be able to buy you together with this company one hundred times? And you dare to toss it off to the floor?" He raised the card that he had been clutching onto and his eyes bulged out from their sockets.

A round red sun had just risen over the horizon when the sound of bells suddenly rang out in Chang’an City. After three rounds of bell chimes, the gatekeepers in the city gradually opened the gates of each residential ward. People began appearing on the morning streets, and thin wisps of cooking smoke slowly floated into the sky.Yesterday afternoon, Xiao Ming had stayed at the Jade Water Pavilion until the palace gates were about to close, and only then did Consort Zhen reluctantly let him leave. In Chang’an City, Feng Deshui had already prepared a temporary, elegant courtyard for Xiao Ming to stay in.After seven days of tiring travel, he was already very exhausted. After returning last night, he slept straight through until now.“Your Highness, it’s time for breakfast. In a little while, you’ll probably be summoned to court.”After washing up, Lü Luo brought in breakfast. It was made by the cooks who had come with him from the prince’s residence.Because of his current status and t

Autumn had arrived. The elm trees on both sides of Vermilion Bird Avenue shed their leaves as the breeze gently passed.Triggered by the splendor of Chang’an, Lu Fei said with envy, “When will Qingzhou ever be as prosperous as this place?”“That’s tough. Chang’an has been the capital of seven dynasties. Its prosperity is inherited,” Luo Xin replied proudly.“Nonsense! Prosperity isn’t like having children—it can’t just be passed down. Hmph, as long as His Highness is in Qingzhou, it won’t take many years before we surpass Chang’an,” Lu Fei retorted.Luo Xin curled his lip, clearly unconvinced.Xiao Ming smiled. Actually, Luo Xin had a point. The prosperity of Chang’an came from the concentration of all the nobility and powerful people of Great Yu.In modern economic terms, it was high consumption driving Chang’an’s economy and prosperity.Right now, his strategy in Qingzhou—to attract merchants—served the same purpose. While the group was traveling halfway along the route, the sudden

He is also a renowned Confucian scholar, highly respected in the court, and has founded the Zhengdong Academy in Chang’an where he gives lectures. Many officials in the Great Yu court have attended his lectures.”Zhan Xingchang nodded, “The reason Cui Hao became the leader of the peace faction is because of the support from many officials who studied at Zhengdong Academy. These officials follow him closely and have considerable influence in the court.”“So, you’re saying Cui Hao is forming a faction for his own benefit?” Xiao Ming asked.“Exactly. These officials, along with Cui Hao, are privately referred to as the Zhengdong
