From the recent gross that had been received, this restaurant was worth over a million dollars.

If that card would be able to buy it over one hundred times... The crowd could only gasp at the thoughts that filled their heads at this moment.

The way that they looked at Clinton has changed almost in an instant and they distanced themselves to give him some breathing space.

To have such an amount in cash at such a young age, he has to form such a powerful family.

Tina immediately understood why her Director was being so respectful to this person in the first place.

"Get out of my sight right this moment." Drake glared at her and having done more than enough for one day already, she didn't dare to argue but just walked away from the place.

"Sir. I'm very sorry once again. To show our sincere appreciation. Your meal will be on the app and I will serve you with anything that you need myself." He said.

"You don't have to be so formal Mr. Drake. I insist on paying." He replies.

Clinton already knew how these things worked even though it was way back. He would never be able to claim credibility if he didn't do what he was meant to.

Drake didn't argue. He nodded his head and went ahead to pull his card into the terminal.

After a few moments, he did what he had to do and Drake added his pin to it. Though most people expected that it was going to be successful, they were still stunned when it eventually turned out that work.

Clinton pointed out everything that he needed. He wanted all the foods that had been made from the freshest ingredients.

He could already think about the smile that would be on their faces when they see it. It was going to be more than enough to light his heart since they had not eaten anything from a restaurant all their lives.

Director Drake packed everything that he had ordered. Summing off to five thousand dollars and he paid for it with a smile on his face.

"If you need anything in the future sir. I will always be glad to be at your service." He said with a reassuring smile handling the purple card.

Clinton stared at it and Director Drake could still feel his heart racing. From the outside, it looked like he was jot angry but Director Drake knew more about these rich people.

The only reason that he might be calm was because he was planning something sinister. He had done it in the past two.

"Is this my Karma?" He said to himself but his thoughts were finally interrupted by Clinton's sudden words.

"Okay," Clinton said casually, taking the card off from his hands slowly. There was nothing wrong with forming an alliance when he still needed it.

With that, he walked out of the place.

Sam and Lisa didn't live far away from the place so it was at least trekkable. When he got there, however, they were not at home...

It was a small neighborhood that just escaped being called a slum. A lot of crimes went around the place, enough to scare him.

But they had already known and lived there since they lost their parents and could navigate the place better than anyone else, who could possibly get into any form of trouble.

Clinton stared in confusion. Most of the time, he always visited at this time of the day and they were always around. Had they suddenly gotten fed up with him?

He threw the thoughts off from his head, there was certainly no way that it was possible. Just maybe.

"Please leave my brother alone." Clara's voice broke into his ears. It was coming from the background and he was certain that it spoke of great despair.

Clinton quickly rushed forward to see what was going on.

A group of people were kneeling begging for their lives at this scene. Clinton recognized some of them. He always saw them at the slum and they were all surrounded by men in black with cruel expressions on their faces.

His heart burned as he searched for Lisa and Sam angrily through the tortured crowd with his eyes and finally, he spotted them just at the middle being watched by every single person there.

Their faces were drenched in mud water and their clothes were shocked while three men surrounded them laughing at their plights.

"Please, don't touch my brother. You can do anything to me but don't touch him." She pleaded with her voice almost like whispers.

She was cold for sure, shivering but was still trying to provide warmth for her brother with her body while the men sneered at them in between their laughter.

"Isn't that ever so sweet?" She said,

One of them that was extravagantly dressed and seemed to be the boss of this gang stepped forward and snatched her off from her sister.

Quickly, he pushed the little girl over to her men and they held her back while she yelled with her might.

"Don't hurt him you monsters. Don't." Tears trickled down her spine as she struggled to break free from this hostile man. But even in her strongest form, she would never be able to do this.

The boy would not raise his head nor speak. Even with the mud that was plastered all over his face, the ten-year-old still looked cute

"Just take a look at you." The men slapped the little child thrice on the face until he eventually fell off to the floor.

Clinton clutched his hands angrily as he stepped forward with a sneer on his face.

"Get your hands off her right this moment." He glared with the rain already wetting his skin at the moment.

The men turned around towards the intruder and almost burst out into laughter seeing the way that he was looking. Just like the pawn that they had gotten already.

"Oh! Does anyone want to please our boss?" The suited guards said.

"We shouldn't rush. Who knows who he might be?" He inquired sarcastically and turned to him with a smile still hovering on his face.

"Why don't you give us a proper introduction of who you are?"

"I am going to repeat myself one more time. Get your hands off her right this moment." He glared.

Clinton had never been this angry all his life and seeing the cold demeanor on his face, the men suddenly laughed.

"And if I don't, what am I going to do? Turn me and burn me?"

"I will cripple you and make sure that you rot in hell for being so cruel to these poor people."

Clinton would allow anyone to mess around with me and get away with it. However, when it came to the people that he loved being hurt by others, it was just enough to bring out the beast that he had been trying to tame.

The laughter on his face suddenly froze after he heard these words and it was obvious that he didn't take these threats lightly.

He glared into Clinton's eyes both with disdain and irritation flooding all over him at the moment.

"How dare you threaten me. Do you know who I am? Well let me inform you, I am the heir of the Swindon family business group. One of the most popular groups in the city." He announced beaming with both pride and irritation.

"Kneel before me and I am going to forget that you said those words."

Clinton was fazed by his words which was unlike anything that he had ever seen before.

Clinton remembered clearly that he had been informed that The Kennel's division was one of the lowest units under that part of his district and from the studies that he had already done in school, these people were one of the hundred groups that were under the Kennel's family group.

Even Mr. Hart, leader of the Kennel division would not dare to speak to him in such a manner. Had he suddenly gotten so low?

Clinton was already boiling over with rage as the guards there were stunned by the words that they just heard.

Did someone just speak to their boss in such a manner? Even Clare was stunned. She knew that he was only trying to protect them but didn't have to do it to his detriment.

"Have you gone mad?" The young man growled.

"Telling me if I am mad? Even your boss would kneel before me if he sees me and you feel that you are worth that?" He inquired.

They didn't believe the words that he just spat out from his mouth. Mr. Hart was a very powerful figure in the city. How could he even dare to mention the name so casually?

The Harts were the only reason that their family was in their position in the first place so hearing someone speak to them in such a manner was enough to get him furious.

Without much hesitation, Clinton brought out his cheap cell phone from his pockets and placed a call over.

"Is this Mr. Hart? I am having trouble with your business group."

Mr. Hart shook right where he was sitting knowing the position of the person that he was talking to at the moment.

"I will be over in five minutes." He assured me but the words only made him frown. That was too much of a wait.

"Three minutes. If you aren't here, I am getting a competent replacement." He ended the call even without waiting for it.

"You brought out the beast in me, now you will have to face it." He glared.

After the Qingming Festival, a continuous drizzle turned the streets and alleys of Qingzhou into muddy quagmires.Having spent these days traveling outside, Xiao Ming was thoroughly fed up with trudging through ankle-deep mud. He thought to himself that if they could hold Cangzhou, he would definitely build several cement roads crisscrossing Qingzhou upon his return, while also revamping the city’s drainage system. After all, infrastructure was one of the essential projects for developing his fiefdom. Moreover, creating a superior living environment could attract merchants from across the Great Yu Empire to settle in Qingzhou.By then, selling land—ah, the legendary land finance—would become a reality.Rainy days were inevitably dull. With the Armaments Department having completed Luo Xin’s plate armor, Xiao Ming summoned him over, intending to ask him a few things while he was at it.“Your Highness, the plate armor is ready so soon?”This set of armor was naturally meant to placate L

The tea on the table exuded a faint fragrance, and the room was silent.Luo Quan stared at Fei Ji for a long time before speaking. “With His Majesty’s wisdom, how could he not see the current state of the empire? If so, why not send the imperial guards to Qingzhou?”“General Luo, if it were that simple, His Majesty wouldn’t be so furious. The King of Zhao wants nothing more than to divert disaster eastward. If the imperial guards mobilize, the barbarians will surely attack the fiefdoms of the Kings of Yong, Zhao, and Liang to contain them. Do you think they would agree? If His Majesty insists and provokes the barbarians, those kings need only deliberately let the barbarians through to threaten Chang’an directly. Thus, the imperial guards cannot move. The best outcome now is for the King of Wei to assist the Prince of Qi in holding Qingzhou. After all, the King of Wei is powerful among the vassal kings. If he commits fully, defending Cangzhou shouldn’t be a problem.”“But the King of W

Chang’an City, Qiushan District. This was a well-known commoner district in Chang’an, for it was home to the illustrious Fei family—renowned for producing “three dukes in four generations,” with disciples and former subordinates spread across the empire. On any given day, the Fei residence bustled with visitors—high-ranking officials, scholars, and even military generals. The reason was simple: the Fei family’s prestige was unparalleled. Unlike other powerful clans that dominated regions, the Fei family had maintained an unbroken presence in the imperial court through multiple dynasties, their cultural heritage far surpassing ordinary noble houses. As a result, the noble families of the Great Yu Empire considered it an honor to marry a Fei daughter. Such a union elevated their status, allowing their descendants to hold their heads higher in official circles. In a realm where aristocratic influence ran deep, bloodlines mattered immensely. A cool breeze rustled through the treetops.Luo Xin glanced at Lu Fei, who showed no reaction to the poem he had just recited. Luo Xin sighed inwardly. Born into a military family for generations, yet I’m no match for a man of humble origins, he thought with some bitterness.Lu Fei, on the other hand, was confused by Luo Xin’s intense gaze. He had only understood the general meaning of the poem and hadn’t felt the same deep emotion as Luo Xin.“You’re not leaving?” Xiao Ming asked with a smile. These days, he’d been training military scribes to boost morale in the army and found himself speaking more like a political instructor than a prince.“I only wish to be a general defending the borders,” Luo Xin said seriously. “But as for Captain Lu, I can’t forgive him.”Lu Fei rolled his eyes.Luo Xin added, “Unless Your Highness gives me a full set of plate armor so I can fight him fairly.”Xiao Ming sighed in frustration. So the two of you want to settle your grudge, and I’m the one who ha
