For split moments, Kelly could not decide if he should be angry or laughing. He was left amused by the words that he just heard.

Someone was ordering President Hart to come forward and kneel before he. He walked forward towards him ready to launch at him like a bulldog.

"You give orders to someone way bigger than you? Keep saying it until it appears in your dream!" He glared.

If father was one of the wealthiest men in the city but when his father went to see Mr. Hart, the man didn't even spare his father a single glance.

He looked at Clinton with even more disdain that was laced all over his face. He wanted to crush me already and send him back to the world that he came out from.

But there was no need to do that. The young man was going to be his bait to get the little stunning lady in his hands tonight and after that, he was going to dispose of the fool that had dared to speak to him in such a manner.

"And if you think that I am going to fall for that stunt that you just pulled. You must be a talented clown."

With his hands tapping with impatience, he beckoned on his guards to cripple Clinton already.

Their feet paced towards him with smirks on their faces already. Seeing that she had been free, Lisa quickly stepped forward.

"Please forgive him. He never meant anything of what he just said. He is someone very close to us. I don't even think that he is thinking straight at this instant." She pleaded with tears already dripping down from her eyes at the moment.

As he felt her warm body, Clinton could already feel himself rumbling with pain. He had vowed that he was going to protect these people but it turned out that he had failed.

His heart was torn into shreds. "I 'm going to make sure that you pay dearly so that the people that I love suffer so much." He vowed in whispers, the howling breeze straining away his words.

"I will do what you have said." She was still shivering.

"Oh! So you are going to agree to my terms now after going through all of these?" He glared.

The anger that was raging through every single part of Clinton's body knew no bounds at the moment.

"Don't say that Lisa." But she had already made up and would not listen. She would rather go against her will than allow anyone to suffer because of her.

"You fool. Do you know who he is? He is the owner of this place. He can find wherever you go. Do you think that I am going to allow you to get into danger because of us?" She glared at Clinton with a look of empathy.

She knew that it was not his fault and she felt sad after she had said those hard words but that was the least that she could do to help him.

Clinton let out a low sigh as he looked at Kelly once again. Why should someone that wasn't even worthy to lick the dust off from his shoes be able to destroy his life..

"That's a good girl. Come to Daddy." Kelly smiled as Lisa walked off towards him.

Clinton could not stand it anymore. He brushed off from where was standing. Soon he was right before Kelly and a slap shot right from him to his face.

Everyone was stunned by this sudden outburst and they thought that this person had certainly gone out of his mind.

The five fingers that were laced on Kelly's face at the moment were bloody as Lisa stared at it. She could not help it but shivered.

"What has Clinton done?" She yelled.

How could he do such a thing because of them? Does he want to die? Tears flooded down from her eyes no matter how hard she tried to restrain them and she sniffed.

"You are very stupid Clinton to think that you would want to help us to your own detriment. Sometimes. I wonder what your brain is made of."

"Rocks." Clinton replied with a now calm smile.

He felt so happy after he did what he had just done.

"Another word of that and I am going to make sure that a slap isn't what he was going to receive." He added more salt to Kelly's wound.

If there was anything that he hated most in all his life it was anyone giving him a slap across the face.

It made him so weak before this set of people and it was more than enough to get him very angry.

"Don't cripple him anymore. I want you to kill him." He glared at his guards with raging anger.

After what they had witnessed, they were more than glad to do what they had already been told to wait for the rising fury in their faces.

As they were able to slap him straight across the face, a loud noise was heard that made them put a halt to what they were doing at the moment.

Some of them already brought out weapons from their pockets. Lisa folded herself in one direction while she cried and as for the crowd, they saw Clinton as someone that was as good as dead already.

"I am sure that he is someone that had a bright future." An old lady that was also a single mother cried out of pity for him.

"Stop." The words raced through the ears of everyone present.

It seemed to have a strange effect that made you want to obey the words that this person was saying.

Their faces all turned around in that direction and most of the people that knew who this middle-aged man was had their jaws far apart with shock.

"It can't be. Mr. Hart! But what would he be doing in such a filthy area when there are a whole lot of large areas that he could always inspect?" Kelly thought aloud to himself.

He didn't even think for once that someone had already told him that he was going to call Mr. Hart over.

There was certainly no one that he could even think about the fact that Clinton who was looking more like a homeless dog could pull so many strings on Mr. Harts.

They all bowed in an instant. Even though he had not gotten over to where they were standing.

Everyone did the same even though one of them didn't know who this person was. His aura was powerful and with just a word of his mouth, they were sure that if he wanted them dead, they would certainly be. Coupled with the fact that someone as powerful as Mr. Swindon was already bowing at him at the moment.

He wore a deadly frown on his face.

"Slap!" A loud slap was heard all over the place. Even though Kelly's face was aching at the moment, he didn't dare to look this man in the eyes.

'What.. what did I do?' Was the only thoughts that clouded his mind.

"You fool! What have you done? How could you get me into this much trouble after everything that I have done for you and your family?" He fired.

"I'm very sorry Mr. Hart. Please forgive me." Kelly said, still bowing.

Even though he didn't understand what exactly was going on, he still didn't dare to argue but went ahead to argue nor even look into his eyes.

Mr. Hart looked over to where Clinton was standing and his old Demeanor was replaced with fear as he shivered even more than the dying boy who was lying on the floor at the moment.

Their eyes interlocked. He could see that Clinton was highly displeased, unlike everything that he had heard about the Young master.

If Ping was to hear about anything that had happened here. Death would be the best escape room for him out of the world.

Not knowing how he was going to get through this at the moment, his feet crashed to the floor with tears pleading down his wrinkled face.

Everyone was stunned for quite a while. It seemed like it was more like a dream but it was not. At that moment, Mr. Hart was kneeling before someone.

They could not all resist the urge to know who this powerful person that he was bowing his head before was going to be. They raised their heads and the sight that lay before Kelly made his heart freeze almost in an instant.

"The all-powerful Mr. Hart was kneeling before someone like Clinton?”

After the Qingming Festival, a continuous drizzle turned the streets and alleys of Qingzhou into muddy quagmires.Having spent these days traveling outside, Xiao Ming was thoroughly fed up with trudging through ankle-deep mud. He thought to himself that if they could hold Cangzhou, he would definitely build several cement roads crisscrossing Qingzhou upon his return, while also revamping the city’s drainage system. After all, infrastructure was one of the essential projects for developing his fiefdom. Moreover, creating a superior living environment could attract merchants from across the Great Yu Empire to settle in Qingzhou.By then, selling land—ah, the legendary land finance—would become a reality.Rainy days were inevitably dull. With the Armaments Department having completed Luo Xin’s plate armor, Xiao Ming summoned him over, intending to ask him a few things while he was at it.“Your Highness, the plate armor is ready so soon?”This set of armor was naturally meant to placate L

The tea on the table exuded a faint fragrance, and the room was silent.Luo Quan stared at Fei Ji for a long time before speaking. “With His Majesty’s wisdom, how could he not see the current state of the empire? If so, why not send the imperial guards to Qingzhou?”“General Luo, if it were that simple, His Majesty wouldn’t be so furious. The King of Zhao wants nothing more than to divert disaster eastward. If the imperial guards mobilize, the barbarians will surely attack the fiefdoms of the Kings of Yong, Zhao, and Liang to contain them. Do you think they would agree? If His Majesty insists and provokes the barbarians, those kings need only deliberately let the barbarians through to threaten Chang’an directly. Thus, the imperial guards cannot move. The best outcome now is for the King of Wei to assist the Prince of Qi in holding Qingzhou. After all, the King of Wei is powerful among the vassal kings. If he commits fully, defending Cangzhou shouldn’t be a problem.”“But the King of W

Chang’an City, Qiushan District. This was a well-known commoner district in Chang’an, for it was home to the illustrious Fei family—renowned for producing “three dukes in four generations,” with disciples and former subordinates spread across the empire. On any given day, the Fei residence bustled with visitors—high-ranking officials, scholars, and even military generals. The reason was simple: the Fei family’s prestige was unparalleled. Unlike other powerful clans that dominated regions, the Fei family had maintained an unbroken presence in the imperial court through multiple dynasties, their cultural heritage far surpassing ordinary noble houses. As a result, the noble families of the Great Yu Empire considered it an honor to marry a Fei daughter. Such a union elevated their status, allowing their descendants to hold their heads higher in official circles. In a realm where aristocratic influence ran deep, bloodlines mattered immensely. A cool breeze rustled through the treetops.Luo Xin glanced at Lu Fei, who showed no reaction to the poem he had just recited. Luo Xin sighed inwardly. Born into a military family for generations, yet I’m no match for a man of humble origins, he thought with some bitterness.Lu Fei, on the other hand, was confused by Luo Xin’s intense gaze. He had only understood the general meaning of the poem and hadn’t felt the same deep emotion as Luo Xin.“You’re not leaving?” Xiao Ming asked with a smile. These days, he’d been training military scribes to boost morale in the army and found himself speaking more like a political instructor than a prince.“I only wish to be a general defending the borders,” Luo Xin said seriously. “But as for Captain Lu, I can’t forgive him.”Lu Fei rolled his eyes.Luo Xin added, “Unless Your Highness gives me a full set of plate armor so I can fight him fairly.”Xiao Ming sighed in frustration. So the two of you want to settle your grudge, and I’m the one who ha
