Liam's POV

The black car moved quietly, smooth like a cat in the dark. Sarah sat next to me, her face lit by the soft glow from her tablet. I stared out the window, watching the city lights turn into long, blurry lines.

One name kept repeating in my head—Rurik Vex. It reminded me of the gala, of Blackwood’s fake smile, and the huge danger we were getting into. This wasn’t just about stolen money or family problems anymore. This was something much bigger. This was a fight.

Sarah was typing fast on her tablet, her fingers flying across the screen like she was racing time. Then she let out a sigh, a short breath full of stress.

“Damn it.” she said quietly, more to herself than to me.

“Find anything?” I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

She shook her head without looking up.

“Nothing solid. I’ve checked every fake name, every digital clue, even searched the darkest parts of the internet. Every trail leads nowhere. There are firewalls, broken files, deleted pages... It’s like

Liam's POVI stood still by the window, holding the phone tightly to my ear. My mom’s words—“It’s about your father”—kept repeating in my head. I felt cold all over.“Mom, what is it? What’s wrong? Tell me!” I said, my voice shaking. Outside, the city lights looked blurry, just like how I felt inside. She was quiet for a moment. The call had strange sounds, like static, and it felt like someone else might be listening. “Liam… I… It’s hard to explain,” she finally said, her voice soft and shaky.I held the phone tighter. “Mom, please. Just say it. Is Dad okay? What’s going on?”She paused again. Then, in a whisper so quiet it gave me chills, she said, “Tobias is back.”Tobias. I had never heard that name before. But it sounded serious and scary.“Mom, who is Tobias?” I asked quickly. “Is he part of this? Is he connected to Dad? What does this mean?”She didn’t answer right away. The silence made me feel like I couldn’t breathe. The strange sounds on the call grew louder. At last, she s

  • CHAPTER 102

Liam's POVI looked at myself in the mirror. The black suit I was wearing felt strange, like it didn’t belong to me. I usually wore old jeans and t-shirts.“You actually look like a billionaire tonight, Liam,” Sarah said, breaking my thoughts.I turned around. She was wearing a dark green dress that showed off her figure. It was different from her usual practical clothes. The small earpiece in her ear was the only thing that looked normal for her.“You don’t like it?” I asked, trying to sound relaxed.“Don’t like it? No. You look good,” she said, studying my face. “But don’t think this act is fooling anyone. We both know what tonight really is.”She was right. This wasn’t just a fancy party. It was a show, a game of lies and hidden threats.“It’s just one more step, Sarah. One step closer to bringing them down,” I said.“Be careful, Liam. Dancing with snakes never ends well. Especially when the snake is Blackwood,” she warned. My jaw tightened. “I know what I’m doing.” But deep down,

  • CHAPTER 101

Liam's POVThe digital clock on my laptop said 5:57 AM. It was still dark outside, and the only light came from my small desk lamp and my computer screen. I looked at the lines of code and financial numbers—they all seemed to be warning me about something. My eyes were tired. I kept thinking about the last few months. So much had happened—money, lies, even murder. My life used to be simple, but Ryan Blackwood took that away from me.I heard a soft click. Charles came in quietly, like a shadow. He was holding his usual leather bag. He placed a stack of papers on my desk—payment records, fake company charts, and secret phone call transcripts. Just looking at them made me feel sick.“Morning, Liam.” Charles said softly, his voice serious.Hans stood by the window, arms crossed. He didn’t say anything, just stared outside at the early morning sky. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking.Sarah looked tired, sitting on the edge of the desk in a big hoodie. Her hair was messy and she held a

Liam's POVMy jaw got tight as I looked at Charles. He stood there, looking kind of awkward, like he was late for dinner instead of missing for weeks. “Where have you been?” I almost shouted, my anger just waiting to explode. “You disappeared. No calls, no messages. You left me hanging.”Charles sighed and ran a hand through his messy hair. “I know, Liam. I'm sorry. I owe you a real explanation, and I know it won’t fix things. But I had to go away. I found something big.”“Something big?” I repeated, not hiding how little I believed him. “That’s your excuse? You just vanished for ‘something big’ while everything was falling apart with the Blackwoods?” I crossed my arms, not wanting to let him off easy. “We were supposed to handle the Blackwoods together, remember?”He stepped into the office, the bright lights showing the lines on his face. “I know the timing was awful, the worst. I regret it. But trust me, what I found…it really matters. It's huge.”“Huge enough to leave me behind

  • CHAPTER 99

Ryan's POVWith a deep breath, I pushed away from the desk. I had to leave this place. I needed a plan. And maybe, just maybe, I could use Silas to help me.I grabbed my jacket and threw it over my shoulder. I picked up my car keys from the desk and walked out, feeling my coworkers' eyes on me like sharp knives. The Golden Dragon was just what I thought small, dark, and smelling strong of MSG. Silas was already there, sitting at a table in the back, holding a drink that looked like whiskey.I walked over to him, my jaw tight. “You’ve got a lot of nerve.” I said, sitting across from him.Silas looked up, a cold light in his eyes. “Relax, kid. I’m not here to make things worse. Maybe easier, but not worse.”I gave a short laugh. “Sure. You’re here to ‘help’ me. That’s funny.”He leaned back, looking at me without blinking. “I won’t lie. I wasn’t happy about this either. But your dad made me an offer I couldn’t say no to. I’ve learned how to play this game. He wants me to do a job, a

  • CHAPTER 98

Ryan's POV“I know you.” I said quickly. The words felt bitter in my mouth. The man sitting in my chair... it couldn’t be. But it was. The scars on his face were clear. Silas Scratch. A famous criminal. Just got out of jail.Silas smiled in a creepy way. The scars around his mouth stretched. They looked even worse up close. “Well, well, well.” he said slowly. “Looks like the little bird knows who I am. Ryan Blackwood, right? You’ve gained some weight.”I felt my blood get hot. What was going on? “Why are you in my office, Scratch?” I asked, trying to stay calm. This had to be a bad dream. Maybe from drinking too much last night. Then, someone spoke from behind. “I invited him, Ryan.”I turned around fast. My dad. William Blackwood. Standing in the doorway. His face showed nothing. My stomach dropped. This was real. It was really happening.I felt both angry and confused. “Dad? What is going on? Why is Silas Scratch in my office?” I pointed at Silas, who just sat there, his eyes shinin

  • CHAPTER 97

Ryan's POVI sat on the couch, my legs resting on the coffee table, holding a half-full bottle of beer in my hand. The local news was loud on the TV, the anchor sounding serious but fake. “Billionaire CEO Liam Carter was held for a short time today because of a shooting at a warehouse last night, but he’s been let go.”The camera showed Liam walking out of the sheriff's office. Reporters rushed toward him, pushing microphones at him.“Mr. Carter, what do you say about the people who died?”“Mr. Carter, were you part of the shooting?”“Mr. Carter, why were you at the warehouse?”Liam stopped, his face showing no emotion. “It was all a mix-up.” he said calmly. “The police and I worked everything out. That’s all there is to it.”The reporters shouted more questions. Before Liam could speak again, Hans Hoffman, his lawyer who was always nearby, stepped forward like a wall.“No more questions.” Hans said clearly, his voice cutting through the noise. He led Liam away, protecting him from

  • CHAPTER 96

Liam's POVThe room went quiet. Sheriff Grey looked furious. Hans stepped forward and leaned close to a police officer, whispering, “My client is innocent. Take your time with this so-called ‘investigation.’”The officer walked away, Hans’ words still in his head.Grey looked like he was going to explode. “You think I work for Blackwood?” he yelled. “After everything I’ve done here, you accuse me like this?!”Locke didn’t back down. He looked Grey in the eyes. “I’m saying what others are too scared to say. Blackwood runs this town, and you’ve helped him.”Grey stepped closer to Locke, his hands balled into fists. Then he grabbed the badge on Locke’s chest and ripped it off hard, tearing the uniform.“You’re fired!” Grey shouted so loud it echoed. “Get out of my station before I lock you up with Carter!”Locke stood tall. He stared at Grey with a mix of sadness and courage. “You know I’m telling the truth,” he said. “One day, you’ll have to pay for what you’ve done.”He walked out,
