The Rise Of The Live In Son-In-Law

Chapter 1

"Liam" Evelyn shouted as she found her way to the kitchen angrily with a light blue top in between her fingers. She had told him to wash her clothes earlier on. The anger was visible in her eyes as it was red.

"That clumsy fool, he had never done anything perfectly" Lila said and scoffed. She had been a friend to Riley since they were in high school. They were so close that Evelyn considered her as her own daughter.

"He is just good for nothing" Riley chimed, knitted her eyelashes and sat properly to know what happened exactly.

"Could you believe he burnt one of the clothes I told him to press. I refuse to report because I know he can't afford that dress, he is the poorest person I have ever seen" Lila continued, they laughed out loud.

"That's right, the five hundred bucks I give him daily won't even pay for that dress." Riley replied proudly.

"Hey, how dare you ruin my favourite top? Do you even know how much it cost?." Evelyn's voice was all over the place, as she scolded him.

Liam covered the pot and faced her. "I'm sorry aunty, the stain was on it before I did the laundry, I tried so hard to remove it but I couldn't" he apologized calmly. she was not ready to let go. 

"As a useless son in law that you are, you should have gotten the stain off even if it involves sacrificing your life for it, unfortunately, you left it. Liam I give you four hours to remove this stain, if not I will make you regret your life." She yelled, threw the cloth at him and stomped her feet before walking out. He shook his head, those words didn't get to him anymore.

Liam was a live-in son-in-law who got married to Riley three years ago. Since then, he had been the one doing the laundry, cooking, cleaning and making sure everything was in place since he doesn't have a job. Riley placed him on five hundred bucks wages.

"Liam, come here." Lila called out in a loud voice, he picked up the cloth and ran out of the kitchen, he wouldn't dare waste time.

"Wash my feet" She commanded, Liam was about to squat when he remembered something.

"I'm sorry but I can't do it now, I am cooking the food you requested and aunty instructed me to wash her cloth" he explained, She gritted her angrily, stood up and slapped him twice.

"How dare you disobey me?" She yelled at him in fury. 

Riley scrutinized him from head to toe. "You ve been feeding so well lately that you have the gut to go against the orders given to you. Grab her foot right now and start washing it." Her voice echoed throughout the room as she screamed angrily. 

"I don't want him anymore, throw this foot soak water away you made me lose interest" she replied in a shallow and uninterested tone. Liam carried the basin and left.

He did not dare utter a word after that, everybody looked down on him just because he was a live-in son-in-law, even a dog had a higher rank than him.

"I read on the timeline yesterday that your company is rated among the top ten companies in the city. I'm really happy for you." Lila giggled, as she pulled her into a hug.

"After three years my company is now a success, I really thought I would be stuck in the top twenty for my years but here we are in the top ten." Riley shouted joyfully.

Liam smiled on hearing those words. Many people saw him as a worthless, useless son-in-law but they don't know he is the almighty Liamson who had concealed his identity for many years.

After he found out that girls date him for money and not love, he decided to hide his identity and sought out for true love, coincidentally, he met with Riley who was under the pressure to get married from her family, Liam only found out about it after he had fallen in love with her.

Throughout their years of marriage, they've never held each other, she occupied the bed while he occupied the floor, they regarded him as nobody but he still continued to help her company grow secretly.

"What's that smell?." Lila asked on perceiving a strange smell coming from the  kitchen, the smile on Riley's face disappeared on realising he was cooking.

"Liam, do you want to burn down my house?" She shouted and stood up aggressively. The villa was bought two days ago by Riley as a compensation for her achievements.

Liam ran into the kitchen and turned off the gas before anybody could walk in.

She walked into the kitchen and smacked him hard on his face, her five fingers were visible on his red cheek. He held it in his hands and winked out of pain.

"You had the intention to burn down the house I just got without a penny from you? Why are you so ungrateful? I gave you everything yet you want to ruin me" she scolded in a loud tone which attracted both her mother and her friend.

"My favourite meal is ruined, all thanks to you." Lila pretended to be hurt just to make them scold him more.

 

"He always finds ways to shove into our throats how worthless he is every single minute." Evelyn complained as they fixed their eyes on him.

Liam paid no attention to them which angered her the more, she doesn't like to be ignored.

"Get down on your knees and apologize to her right now" Evelyn commanded in a loud voice. Liam made up his mind not to apologize to anybody.

"Are you deaf?" She questioned, he didn't bulge.

"Didn't you hear what Mum just said." Riley queried. He untied his apron and headed out of the kitchen leaving them standing.

They gasped in surprise. "He is in a lot of trouble." Lila muttered, smirking secretly.
