Time slipped by, and soon it was 10 PM.

At Nova General Hospital, in the radiology department, Charles Martin paced anxiously, holding his swollen right hand.

"Are Charles Martin’s test results ready yet? It’s been over two hours!" Charles snapped impatiently at the nurse behind the counter.

"The results will be announced over the intercom once they’re ready. What’s the rush?" The nurse shot him an irritated look. Frustrated but left with no choice, Charles resumed pacing the waiting area, his agitation growing by the minute.

Finally, after another ten minutes or so, the intercom crackled to life: "Patient Charles Martin, please proceed to Orthopedics Room 2 on the third floor to consult and collect your test results."

Hearing his name, Charles hurriedly made his way upstairs.

Inside Room 2, a middle-aged doctor in his thirties glanced up as Charles walked in.

"You’re Charles Martin?" the doctor asked, confirming his identity.

"Yes, that’s me," Charles replied quickly.

“No matter what, I’m prepared to bear it,” Joseph said softly. “If I spend my life running away, my heart will never know peace.”“I’m going to open this box—to reclaim my destiny, to rediscover my purpose, and to take back everything I’ve lost.”A faint smile crossed his face as he spoke.“Very well,” Neil Foster exhaled. “Since you’ve made your decision, I won’t say anything more.”“Old Adams, let’s step outside. He should go through this alone.”Brian Adams nodded and followed Neil Foster toward the door. After taking a few steps, however, Brian Adams stopped and turned back.“Young Master, so many years have passed. You must change as well. You’re no longer the inexperienced boy you once were.”“I believe you can steady yourself and begin making plans for the long road ahead.”His expression was cold as he spoke to Joseph.“I know,” Joseph replied, nodding.“Then I’ll take my leave.”Brian Adams inclined his head slightly and left the room, closing the door behind him.Once they w

Before long, gunfire and screams rose from beneath the ship. The once-azure sea was stained with blood, a crimson bloom spreading slowly across the water. The ship sailed away, leaving behind only a solitary enforcement vessel. Bodies drifted on the surface, abandoned to the waves.Predators of the open sea, near and far, seemed to catch the scent of blood. Drawn by it, they soon arrived, and the floating corpses were devoured in short order. At the same time, Elysia’s borders erupted with sudden incursions. At multiple strategic entry points, small-scale skirmishes broke out. Most of the intruders came alone, yet each possessed terrifying combat prowess.Even so, casualties were suffered on both sides.Beyond these, there were also large, organized border crossings. Some forces fought their way in, others slipped across in secrecy, but most avoided prolonged entanglements with the border troops, as though their sole objective was simply to enter Elysian territory. As for why they had

“Director Foster, should I say something?”After Joseph logged into the page, he asked.“You can say something if you like. But even if you say nothing, the moment your account lights up, they’ll know you’re back.”“You haven’t logged into this account for years. They all thought you were dead.”Neil Foster replied patiently.“I’d better say something,” Joseph said after a moment’s thought. “Otherwise, they’ll really believe I’m dead.”With that, he fell silent, carefully organizing his words.“All right. Young Master, say whatever you wish.”After speaking, Neil Foster said nothing more.At the very same moment, in Dreadmoor, in the capital city—A man dressed in traditional Dreadmoor attire, a narrow mustache beneath his nose, sat upon an enormous dragon-headed throne.Just then, another man entered in a hurry. He was also dressed in traditional clothing, a long saber strapped at his waist.“Downwell, that man has returned.”The saber-bearer spoke gravely, in the harsh tongue of Dre

“One of the reasons we sought you out, Young Master, is indeed Miss Alice’s safety—and it is also the most urgent one,” Neil Foster said, nodding.“What exactly is the situation?” Joseph asked, his brows knitting slightly.“At present, Miss Alice’s name sits at the very top of the assassin bounty list,” Neil Foster replied.“Her death carries a reward of 1.1 billion dollars.”“Capturing her alive is worth as much as 1.5 billion.”“With such staggering sums on the table, desperate men will always emerge. Foreign assassins will soon begin infiltrating Elysia, and Miss Alice will be placed in extreme danger.”Neil Foster exhaled softly, his expression grave.Hearing this, Joseph clenched his fists once more, his face growing darker by the second.“What they want is the research in Alice’s possession,” he said. “Why resort to killing her?”His thoughts were in turmoil, and he spoke almost without thinking.“The answer is simple,” Neil Foster replied.“First, such research being born in El

Hearing the question, Neil Foster and Brian Adams exchanged another glance.“It seems you’ve already remembered quite a lot,” Brian Adams said, taking the lead.Although he did not answer Joseph’s question directly, his words were, in effect, an answer.“So my mentor truly still has other family?” Joseph frowned, his hands tightening into clenched fists.Once again, the image of the little girl from his dreams surfaced—the despair, the helplessness, the quiet sorrow that clung to her. What had she gone through to leave such an impression?“Young Master, may we explain everything to you step by step?” Neil Foster asked after a moment’s contemplation.“Yes. But today, I must have an answer,” Joseph said firmly.“Young Master, let us speak in the inner room,” Neil Foster said, gesturing politely as he led the way. Before long, the three of them entered a room that appeared to be a private reception lounge. Neil Foster poured each of them a glass of water, unhurried and composed.“I’m c

The two receptionists at the front desk were striking in both looks and figure—the kind of beauty that lingered in one’s memory after a single glance. However, Joseph was accustomed to being around women like Alice, Mason Alvarez, and Heidi—exceptional beauties in every sense.Compared to them, such ordinary attractiveness hardly drew his attention.“You’re looking for someone?” The long?legged receptionist in black stockings paused in surprise.“I’m here to see Brian Adams,” Joseph replied. At the sound of the name, the two receptionists exchanged a look, instantly understanding something unspoken.“Are you Mr. Joseph?” one of them asked.“I am,” Joseph answered.“Please follow me, Mr. Joseph.”One of the receptionists stepped forward, gestured politely, and led the way.Joseph followed without hesitation. After walking for a short while, he studied the woman’s gait from behind, a flicker of surprise passing through his eyes. Her steps were unusually light—far too fluid for an ordi
