“Fiona’s already there. Let’s go,” the old man said once Joseph was seated.

“I’m ready,” Joseph replied.

“Then let’s move,” Old Mr. Cooper told the driver.

The chauffeur started the engine, and the car pulled out.

Behind them, Alvarez followed with two additional vehicles.

Roughly half an hour later, the convoy entered Greenfield Villa. After a few more minutes, they stopped outside a familiar house.

Joseph looked out the window at the villa. His eyes narrowed, emotions swirling within him.

He had thought he would never return to this place. And yet, here he was again.

Joseph and the others parked a short distance from the villa, but none of them got out immediately.

The heavy iron gates were tightly shut, secured with oversized padlocks on either side. Outside stood a group of servants from the Cooper estate, gripping wooden batons as they maintained a tense watch.

Fiona, who had arrived ahead of the others, stood just outside the gate, attempting to reason with those inside.

By a little past eight, the three of them were finally full and satisfied from dinner.Mason Alvarez had eaten well tonight and looked quite content.“Professor Wilson, it’s about time for me to head home. Would you mind giving me a ride? It’ll only take ten minutes or so,” Mason said to Joseph.“Just let me know when you’re ready to go,” Joseph replied simply.Mason rested for another half an hour before finally calling for Joseph to head out with her. When Joseph opened the car door, Mason took the passenger seat.“Buckle your seatbelt,” Joseph reminded her.“Oh, right.” Mason quickly fastened her seatbelt at his prompting.Joseph drove out of the neighborhood, the car quiet. He barely said a word the whole way, lost in thought.“Professor Wilson, is something on your mind? You look so out of it tonight. That’s not like you,” Mason observed, sharp as ever.“It’s nothing serious, just... some things I’m puzzled about,” Joseph hesitated, then answered.“Puzzled? About what? Tell me, m

Listening to the two of them talk, Joseph didn’t seem the least bit hurried. He walked into the kitchen first and put the groceries into the fridge.“What’s the rush? You can’t see it now anyway. We have to upload it to the computer before we can look at anything,” Mason Alvarez said to Alice.“Oh, I’m just worried about Joseph’s health, that’s all,” Alice replied, her tone casual.“Your Joseph is basically fine. Every night he gives you a happy, blissful life,” Mason Alvarez set her things down and flopped onto the sofa, letting out a contented sigh. She had to admit, Alice’s sofa was incredibly comfortable.“What do you mean, ‘happy, blissful life’? I’ve only ever heard of ‘happy life.’ Are you sure you’re using the right words?” Alice rolled her eyes; for a moment, she didn’t catch Mason’s underlying meaning.“Heh, I mean blissful. Isn’t it blissful when you’re with Professor Alvarez at night? Don’t you feel like you’re on cloud nine, unable to stop, teetering between life and deat

"The situation isn’t looking good," the middle-aged doctor said, his brows furrowed after a thorough examination. "He’s not dead... but he’s very close.""Looks like induced acute renal failure."The words stunned the room into silence. Murmurs broke out among the onlookers."Induced acute renal failure? Judging by how he’s not wearing anything, I bet he was doing something... unspeakable.""Isn’t it obvious? A man and a woman, in a hotel room, undressed—what else could they be doing?""Mr. Kim’s been fooling around here since last night. Switched out several women already. Fighting non-stop for a whole day and night—even an ox couldn’t take it!""Seriously. Around noon, I saw him walk in with a woman in her mid-thirties. When I saw him again later, his face looked ghostly pale—like he’d been drained of his life force.""That’s terrifying. Auntie's waist—the blade of death!""People always say lustful men die between the sheets. Today, I actually witnessed it.""Brothers, take this

"Good, just making sure," Joseph replied with a sheepish smile. He might’ve been a little slow on the uptake, but he wasn’t stupid. He could more or less read between the lines of what Mason Alvarez had been hinting at."Help yourself to some water," Mason said casually before slipping back into the resting room.Same resting room. Same semi-transparent partition.Joseph poured himself a glass of water and sat down.As he sipped, he found himself—once again—watching an unintentional performance of elegance and allure. To be fair, it wasn’t exactly “unintentional.” And it certainly wasn’t “forced” either. A man was, after all, still a man—and some instincts were simply beyond his control. This woman wasn’t just being careless. She was doing it on purpose. And he couldn’t even bring himself to look away. After a while, Mason emerged again."All set, Professor Wilson. Have you finished your water? If you have, let’s go."She slung her bag over her shoulder, glancing at him."Yes, I’m

"The doctor assigned to the andrology department had to take emergency leave, so I’m stepping in temporarily," Mason Alvarez said calmly, taking a sip of water."You’re stepping in?" Joseph blinked. "Wait a minute—Nova First Hospital is huge. Don’t tell me there’s only one doctor who can handle andrology?""Besides, you’re not even specialized in this field. How can you just fill in like that?""Who told you I’m not specialized?" "I studied andrology during my advanced training. Doing a simple exam like this? Please, it’s no big deal.""And for the record," she added with a mischievous grin, "you’re my first andrology patient. Shouldn’t you feel honored?"Joseph stared at her, feeling very much not honored. That smile of hers—it had trouble written all over it. Why did she look more like a predator circling her prey? He, on the other hand, felt like a helpless lamb about to be devoured."Uhm... Professor Alvarez, maybe we should ask someone else to handle this?" he suggested weakl

"Of course I care. We’re colleagues, after all—it’s only natural to look out for you. I just didn’t want you to get caught changing in front of others and end up in an awkward situation.""That’s why I reminded you," Joseph explained quickly."I see... So there’s no concern beyond just being colleagues?" Mason Alvarez straightened up slightly, her voice tinged with disappointment."That’s not what I meant," Joseph hurried to clarify."Then tell me, do you care for me the same way you care for that little girl?""Regardless of your answer, it doesn’t matter. Whether or not you care, I’ll still care for you—just like she does." "Because you, you damned man, have this inexplicable charm that makes people unable to walk away."Her cheeks flushed faintly as she looked at him with soft, affectionate eyes, her voice unusually serious."I’m just an ordinary man. Thank you, Professor Alvarez, for thinking so highly of me… I really don’t know how to repay your kindness." Joseph, caught off g
