Chapter 18 - A Daring Bet

Claudia has never had any scandals like this since she debuted five years ago! She's pretty much one of the artists who don't cause trouble! Everything changed the second she met you!" Matt said. He could not be bothered to think that Richardwas his boss right now. After all, he is the PR director and he is the one who has to deal with the mess that Claudia and Richardcaused today.

"What do you mean? Do you mean that all of this is my fault? Claudia only started to have scandals because of me?!" Richardasked. He could not believe this. Even Matt isn't on this side!

That Claudia seriously...he just wanted to strangle her and be done with it! How can someone be so annoying?

Matt rasied his eyebrows. "What do you think?" He asked Ryder.

Richardwas angry. "Can you please be on my side here? She is the one who said that we are getting married! Why am I getting the blame for it?" Richardasked. He really could not accept this. It was so unfair! She is the one who said it, so why is he getting the blame for it?

Matt could not bothered to reason with Richardnow. He was still trying to think of ways to deal with this. "If you want to cause trouble, can you please let our company artists off? They earn the money for us! We won't be able to do anything if you destroy thier reputation like this!" Matt said.

He did not understand Richardat all. He had never messed with actresses before. Why on Earth did he have to pick Claudia to mess with this time? What kind of fate even led the both of them to meet each other?

If they were ever able to clear this scandal, he really hoped that Claudia and Richardwould stay far away from each other. Nothing good ever seemed to happen if they were together.

"I really can't believe this. How can't you be on my side here?" Richardexpressed his dissatisfaction.

"You think that I'm in the mood to pick sides? I have to think of ways to deal with the mess that the both of you created" Matt said. How can Richardnot see the problem here?

Just then, Ryder's phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was his father. He turned off his phone at once. He already knew what he was going to say and he definitely wasn't in the mood to hear it.

Matt sighed when he saw it. He was already expecting it. "You should think about how you are going to explain this to your father" Matt said.

"Whatever. I'm not going to pick up" he said.

"You can escape it for tonight but what are you going to do tommorow? How are you going to deal with this?" Matt asked.

"Whatever forget it I'll deal with it tommorow. Drive me home. I just want to sleep" Richardsaid. He needed to wrap his head around what was going on right now.

Rose went to Scarlet's place first thing in the morning. As expected, all the tabliods were talking about how Claudia annouced that she will be getting married on the news last night.

Her award was only mentioned briefly and everyone was talking about her marriage. Claudia felt that she was really going to cry. How did she end up getting into this kind of mess?

As Rose has predicted, Claudia was asked to come to the company. They had to talk about how they were going to deal with the scandal.

When Claudia thought about how she was going to meet that damned Ryder, she really did not want to go.

Rose had to convince her.

"Of course we have to go Claudia. You have a lot of work into your career. Are you really just going to everything go down the drain like this? You've worked hard for five years for your career. You can't let it go now" Rose advised her.

Even though Claudia wasn't good with her words and she was always making people angry whenever she opened her mouth, Rose actually knew that she had worked hard.

And besides, she made her the artist that she was today. She too had put in a lot of effort into Claudia's career. She could not watch as her hard work of five years went down the drain like that.

They had to think of what to deal with this.

"I swear when all of this is over I'm going to find a way to skin that damned Richardalive!" Claudia said.

Rose did not say anything. They had to see if they will be able to contain the news before they would start thinking about skinning anyone alive.

"Let's go" Rose said.

Because of the scandal about her getting married, they were lots of reporters gathered outside the company building who wanted to interview Claudia. When she got there with Rose, the bodyguards had to come out to make a way for her and Rose.

Claudia noticed that everyone was talking about her immediately she walked into the company but she could not be bothered to care. She only came here because she wanted to talk about the best way to deal with this mess. She knew that she had indeed acted rashly yesterday.

Matt and Richardwere already in Peter's office.

"How are you going to explain this Ryder? Even if the both of you are going to get married, you should talk about this with the company and think about the best way for the both of you to announce this to the public. How can you do something like this at an award show?" Peter asked. He really thought that Claudia and Richardwere a couple because of what he told him the last time.

Matt and Richardlooked at each other.

Matt gave Richarda look that said, "you caused this so deal with it on your own"

"And you Matt, how can you let something like this happen? You are the PR director! You know how things like this can affect an actress! You still let them do whatever they want" Peter said.

Matt "..."

Hw didn't even do anything and he was somehow getting the blame now? How is this even fair?

"Claudia has never caused trouble like this before. And Ryder...even you can't do anything about him what could I have done?" Matt asked. He seemed that he really did not want to bother with Richardanymore.

He had been thinking all night and he still had not come with a way to deal with this mess.

Richardwas speechless. He immediately made Claudia and himself out to be the innocent ones and he put him in the spotlight. How is this even fair? Whatever happened to thier friendship?

Just then, the door opened and Claudia and Rose walked in.

When Claudia and Richardsaw each other, they stared at each other like they were going to bore holes in each other with they eyes.

Rose had to clear her throat to remind Claudia the reason why they came here today. No matter what, no matter how angry she was, she could not get into an argument with Richardhere. She did over react yesterday after all.

They were all here to discuss the best cause of action to take. Not to get even more angry with each other.

"Claudia..... congratulations on winning your award" Peter said. He said that to clear the tense atmosphere. He too had noticed that something seemed to be wrong with Claudia and Ryder. Did the both of them argue? Didn't they just say that they were getting married?

For the sake of his mental health, he had never involved himself in the love affairs of his son. But he really liked Claudia, it would be great if the both of them could get together.

Claudia sat down after greeting Peter and Matt, completely ignoring Ryder. It was clear now that there was something wrong between the both of them.

"Claudia about this....what are we going to do now? Everyone is asking when the both of you are going to get married" Matt asked.

Peter said, "why don't you just get married? Since you already annouced that you are getting married it must mean that you are planning for it right? At most we Just have to push the date forward right?" Peter asked.

Peter really thought that Claudia and Richardwere a couple. He was just a little upset that they did not talk about this with the company before there decided to announce it to the public so they aren't prepared for this and they were caught off guard.

Claudia and Richardgave each other a look before they both shouted "No!"

Even Matt and Rose were stunned. Claudia and Richardget married? Will planet Earth survive this marriage?

Peter was surprised. What do they mean by no? Didn't they just announce that they were getting married? Why will they do that if there weren't sure about getting married.

"What's do you mean by no? Why did you announce that you were getting married if you weren't sure about it?" Peter asked. He still had not caught on that they weren't even a couple from the beginning.

The there other people in the room, Claudia, Rose and Matt gave Richarda look that said he should explain himself.

Richardsighed. Fine. It seemed that he did not have a choice. He is the one who started this whole mess. He is the one who wanted to mess around with Claudia and said that the both of them were a couple. He is the one who wanted to mess with Claudia and said that he wanted to get married.

"Dad....we are not getting married. We...are not a couple" Richardsaid. Like hell he was ever going to be a couple with this woman. He would rather die. Claudia would just annoy him to death!

"What?!" Peter was stunned.

"But didn't you say a few days ago that tht both of you were a couple? How did that change? How come you are no longer a couple!?" Peter asked. He really could not believe this.

"I just told you! I wanted to mess with her so I said that we were a couple! We are really not!" Richardsaid. He was really starting to get annoyed. Is his father crazy? Him get married to Claudia? Something like they will never happen! Right now, he just wanted to be as far away from Claudia as possible.

Peter was angry. How on Earth was he going to deal with this now since the both of them were not a couple? How ......

Peter glared at his son. "So you caused so much trouble for Claudia because you wanted to mess around with her?!" Peter yelled.

Richardfelt wronged. What's did they mean by he caused trouble for Claudia? She is the one who wanted to get married to him! She is the one who said that they were getting married! Why is he taking the Blame for that since yesterday?

"She is the one who said that we were getting married yesterday" Richardsaid.

"Shut up!" Peter roared. "Would she have said that if you did not get to mess with her?" Peter asked his son. He knew him well. He knew that Richardprobably did something to Claudia before she did something like this. Claudia has never been this unreasonable before.
