A heavy silence hung in the conference room like a storm cloud.

Then out of nowhere, someone shot to his feet and exclaimed. "Wait a minute. I recognize that man. He's Reeds, Karyl's useless husband."

Everyone in the boardroom froze.

The shareholders turned to each other, murmuring in shock. No one knew that Reeds was Karyl's husband until now.

Rumours had been circulating that Karyl was married to a good-for-nothing, but those rumours were never confirmed until now.

"Is he really Karyl's husband?" someone muttered.

"Yes. I saw them together at Evelyn Roger's birthday party. Reeds is a troublemaker. I recognize him."

"B-But how could this be?" Someone shouted. "If Reeds is Karyl's wife, that would mean he lied to us about his identity."

Mr. White laughed. "I told you, didn't I? So he's the loser Karyl married. You don't think a man like him could be heir to the Higgins family, do you?"

"I have withdrawn the Higgins family capital transferred to this company and I'm not changing my mind."The shareholders exchanged uneasy glances at each other. The atmosphere of the room was charged with tension as Zayn stood up and broke the silence."I have an announcement to make," he paused to stare directly at Karyl who was seated at the other end of the table.
