Reeds reveals his secert

Reeds turned to face his wife. He was startled by the cold expression on her face. 

Then to everyone's shock, Karyl turned to Reeds and swung her hand at his face. 

SMACK!!! 

She slapped him hard across his cheeks, the impact sounding like a fired gun. 

A deafening silence ensued in the room.

Karyl stepped between Reeds and Zayn, her back stiff with rage. 

Reeds watched her as she stood before Zayn and inclined her back in a stiff bow. "Mr. Raymond, please forgive me for the embarrassment my stupid husband has caused you this evening. I promise to make up for it." 

Reeds hands slowly crept up to his cheeks which were stinging badly from her slap. 

It hurts him to see the rage in Karyl's eyes as she glares at him. 

"Reeds," she called out, her voice as cold as ice. "Get down on your knees and apologize to Mr. Raymond, now." 

Reeds couldn't believe it. 

His wife who he was trying to protect not only just slapped him, but is also ordering him to apologize to the man that wants to drug her. 

Reeds was speechless. This was the ultimate humiliation and it came from no other person but his wife. 

"Reeds," Karyl added, her voice colder than before. "Don't make this difficult for both of us. If you apologize to Mr. Raymond, I can convince him to let you go. We'll all pretend you weren't making a fool of yourself tonight." 

Another moment of silence passed by. 

Seeing that Karyl was on his side, Zayn saw how he could turn the tables around to his own advantage. 

Stretching to his full height, Zayn pointed his finger at Reeds face and bawled at him. 

"I should kill you where you stand but for the sake of Karyl here, I'll show you mercy. Drop on your knees and begged me for my forgiveness. Refuse to do so and I'll be forced to throw you in prison!"

Reeds turned to face Karyl. "Karyl, you've got to believe me. That drink contains an aphrodisiac. Zayn's trying to manipulate you to turn against me. Don't listen to him. Don't give in to his tricks. Listen to me." 

"Listen to you?" Karyl grimaced. "Why the hell should I listen to you? Zayn just contacted the Higgins family and secured a five-million-dollar investment for my company! And you? You want to ruin everything? Drive my company into bankruptcy?" 

"That's not true," Reeds said sharply. "The $5 million investment you received not long ago actually came from me. I was the one who invested in your company, not Zayn." 

Karyl shook her head at Reeds. "I don't believe a word you said to Reeds. You're slandering a good man who secured the investment for my company from the Higgins family. Did you hear that? The Higgins family. How low can you get to discredit a decent man like Mr. Raymond?" 

Zayn stepped forward. "I understand your husband, Karyl. He's jealous that I could step up to fill his role in your life. That's why he's trying to take credit for the $5 million investment." 

"You snake," Reeds barked at him. "You're the one who's trying to steal the credit inorder to fool my wife." 

"Mr. Raymond makes an excellent point, Reeds," Karyl snapped at Reeds. "You're jealous. That explains everything. It boggles my mind how an unemployed nobody like you could have secured an investment from the Higgins family. Quit fooling yourself, Reeds." 

Reeds felt hurt hearing his wife say such mean words to him. This made him furious. 

She wasn't taking him seriously because she didn't know his secret. 

If she knew who he really was, she wouldn't dare to insult or disrespect him like this before his enemy. 

Clenching his hands into fists, Reeds locked eyes with his wife. "I'll admit it that I've been unemployed and useless to you all these years we've been married, but that's just a cover." 

Karly folded her arms. "A cover? What the hell are you yapping about?" 

Reeds spread his arms. "I've kept this a secret from you for years. The truth is, I'm the heir of the Higgins family. The $5 million was a gift from me to you."
