Chapter 80

Elise edged backwards and she sat on a chair behind her. Tears shone in her eyes and she could feel herself tearing apart. She felt empty inside—more like cold.

The cool evening breeze caressed her skin and painfully reminded her of where she was: Out at the beach in the Edge Ville island, in her beautiful birthday dress and a broken heart, in shock over a cheating boyfriend.

It was really unfair for her, she reasoned. She had tears streaming down her face as a small crowd of people watched her.

She blinked rapidly and her breathing pace increased. Her eyes darted to her left as she looked at the spot where her mother was seated earlier.

She was no longer there. A jabbing headache throbbed at the back of her head as she bent over and held it in her palm.
