The high-pitched, screeching wail of thousands of black crows echoed through the narrow mouth of the river canyon, bouncing off the subterranean bedrock of Slate Harbor like a gathering storm. The panicked stampede of dockworkers and black-market merchants died out instantly; they fled into the deepest crevices of the stone docks, pulling their iron security grates shut. They knew what that sound meant. The Grand Master’s personal hunting hounds had arrived. Lu Chen stepped out from the ruined stone pavilion, his boots clicking against the splintered wood of the primary pier. He stood tall in the cold sea damp, his bare, marble-hard chest catching the erratic purple light of the harbor's bioluminescent lanterns. Behind him, Lin Xue supported the weakened Elder Song, her wind-affinity Qi flaring to form a soft protective barrier around the elderly captive. "They’re here," Lin Xue whispered, her green eyes fixed on the cavern ceiling. "The Three Shadow Executioners. They are all First or Second Layer Core Formation masters, Lu Chen. They don't fight like the outer legion—they hunt as a single mind." The purple twilight sky above the basin was completely blotted out by a swirling, chaotic cyclone of matted black feathers. The screeching grew so deafening it rattled the iron hulls of the docked merchant skiffs. Suddenly, the feathered vortex split into three distinct streaks of pitch-black smoke, slamming down onto the stone pavilion roof forty yards ahead. When the smoke cleared, the three executioners stood in perfect alignment. They wore identical, high-collared robes of midnight-black silk that seemed to actively absorb the ambient light. Their faces were hidden behind polished, obsidian masks shaped like the skulls of predatory birds, and their hands were encased in articulated silver talons. "Lu Chen of the Vermilion Sect," the center executioner spoke. His voice was a disturbing, layered harmony of three distinct tones speaking in perfect unison. "You have devoured the outer assets. You have broken the gate. Your path ends in the mud of this basin." The executioner on the left drew a long, flexible whip made of interlocking spirit-iron vertebrae that sizzled with a green, corrosive acid-Qi. The one on the right raised a massive, two-handed executioner's broadsword that hummed with a volatile, black shadow-Qi. Lu Chen didn't draw a weapon. He slowly raised his right hand, balled it into a heavy fist, and let the internal gates of his Golden-Crimson Cosmic Vortex open wide. Vrrr—! The multi-sided crystalline prism at the center of his soul erupted into a manic, blinding velocity, generating a high-pitched, metallic hum that caused the river water beneath the pier to violently ripple and recede. The air pressure around his body collapsed into a state of absolute, localized vacuum. "You call yourselves hounds," Lu Chen said, his flat, layered voice easily absorbing the screeching of the crows. "But you're just another harvest." "Kill him," the center executioner commanded. The three shadows exploded forward simultaneously. The left executioner lashed out with the iron-vertebrae whip, the green acid-Qi cutting through the air like a snake, aiming to wrap around Lu Chen’s throat. Simultaneously, the right executioner leapt high into the air, his shadow-cloaked broadsword coming down in a devastating vertical arc meant to split Lu Chen's skull. Lu Chen didn't retreat. He took a heavy step forward into the attack. The Devouring Maw detonated. Instead of blocking, Lu Chen created a localized black hole directly in front of his chest. The absolute, crushing suction wave was so violent that the incoming acid-whip was forcefully bent and warped, its green corrosive energy being violently ripped off the iron vertebrae and dragged straight down into Lu Chen's open palm. * crunch.* With his left hand, Lu Chen reached up and caught the falling shadow-broadsword bare-handed. The absolute friction of his Core Formation vortex ground the enemy's shadow-Qi into useless sparks, the steel blade cracking under the immense pressure of his naked fingers. "What?! His core density is impossible!" the right executioner shrieked beneath his birdmask. "Your master gave you shadow," Lu Chen whispered, his pitch-black eyes flashing with a blinding gold-and-crimson lightning. "But I am the void." He executed the reverse path of the Shattered Mirror Technique through the cracked broadsword. The massive, golden reservoir of Core Formation energy he had stored from the high governor exploded outward from his right knuckles in a wave of solid emerald needles. BOOM! The explosion tore through the right executioner’s armor, completely liquefying his internal organs and blasting his broken body backward into the cavern wall, where he crashed as a lifeless husk. Before the remaining two executioners could adjust their formation, Lu Chen slammed his right foot into the stone pier. The stolen acid-Qi, combined with the razor-sharp friction of his own cosmic vortex, exploded from his heel in a wave of corrosive crimson spikes that tore through the wooden dock-planks and shattered the left executioner’s legs. The center executioner frantically tried to retreat, his black silk robes fluttering as he summoned thousands of phantom crows to shield his escape back toward the canyon ceiling. "Too late," Lu Chen said, his voice a low, terrifying promise of absolute destruction. He raised his right index finger, and the crystalline prism inside his belly gave a single, violent twitch. A line-thin beam of solidified, piercing solid Qi shot from his fingertip like a cosmic lightning bolt. It bored clean through the center executioner's obsidian mask, exiting out the back of his skull in a silent spray of crimson. The massive cyclone of black feathers dissolved into nothingness, the two remaining bodies tumbling limply into the black river water with a heavy, definitive splash. Lu Chen stood calmly in the smoking ruins of the pavilion, his breathing steady, his skin radiating a flawless, marble-like metallic sheen. He had not just survived the hunting squad; the sheer volume of the executioners' refined Core Formation energy had settled heavily into his belly, locking his anchor firmly at the Second Layer of the Core Formation Realm. He turned his dead eyes back toward the Iron Sovereign, where Lin Xue and Elder Song were watching him in absolute, terrified silence. "The hounds are dead," Lu Chen said, his voice smooth and carrying an icy, razor-sharp resonance. "The capital is next." ------------------------------

‎The central chamber of the Star-Ship Foundry descended into a chaotic symphony of violence and creation. Colossal steam-powered gantry cranes whined under the weight of massive, four-inch-thick hull plates forged from dark Void-Iron—a rare, density-defying metal that could withstand the crushing gravity of the higher planes. Thousands of multi-limbed Iron-Weaver blacksmiths swarmed the split-open chassis of the Iron Sovereign, their heavy hammers raining a continuous shower of blinding orange sparks onto the deck.‎Lu Chen sat cross-legged at the absolute center of the exposed hull, directly above the ship's pulsing star-core. He had discarded his torn burlap cloak. His bare, marble-dense chest was a network of glowing, pitch-black cosmic veins that directly mirrored the newly installed copper conduits of the warship.‎"The ship’s skeletal framework cannot handle the sheer kinetic feedback of the Primordial Dreadnought Schema [1.1]!"
