‎The ruins of the subterranean refinery lay far below, swallowed by the boiling, toxic red waters of the mountain's veins. Above, the sky cracked open.

‎The Iron Sovereign did not crawl out of a hidden hatch; it tore its way up from the underworld. Using the sheer, gravitational propulsion of his Golden-Crimson Cosmic Core, Lu Chen drove the five-thousand-ton iron flagship straight up through the stone foundations of the imperial capital. The massive bedrock of the plaza split apart like dried clay, sending a cataclysmic shockwave through the towering obsidian palaces of the Grand Holy Land of the Eternal Eclipse.

‎When the smoke and dust finally cleared, the warship sat anchored in the center of the Grand Imperial Square.

‎The sunlight of the capital was bright, gold, and blinding, a stark contrast to the eternal twilight of the border ports. But the moment Lu Chen stepped onto the shattered marble of the main deck, the sky began to violently reject the morning light. The planetary gravity radiating from his skin warped the air, casting a heavy, bruised purple shadow over the imperial palaces.

‎Lin Xue stepped up to the railing beside him, her wind-affinity Qi swirling defensively around her emerald hair, her hands tightly clutching her daggers. Beside her, Elder Song looked out at the city, his old eyes wide with a mixture of terror and grim satisfaction.

‎"We are at the throat of the beast, Lu Chen," Lin Xue whispered, pointing toward the colossal golden palace towering over the northern edge of the plaza. "The Hall of the Five Crows was just the knife the empire used in the dark. But the hand that held that knife belongs to Emperor Solarus. And he has been waiting for you."

‎The Grand Imperial Square was not empty. The moment the flagship breached the stones, three complete Divine Legions—fifteen thousand elite imperial paladins clad in glowing, sun-gold armor—had deployed in a flawless, interlocking hemisphere around the warship. They held massive golden tower shields etched with high-grade sun runes, and their long spears hummed with a volatile, blinding light-Qi.

‎Above the army, hovering in the sky on a platform of solid light, sat Emperor Solarus himself. He wore a heavy, jade-beaded crown and robes of pure golden silk that bled a suffocating, late-stage Core Formation pressure across the plaza.

‎"Lu Chen of the Vermilion Sect," the Emperor’s voice boomed down from the heavens, carrying the absolute authority of a man who ruled a continent. "You have swallowed my ports, murdered my executioners, and shattered the balance of the Northern Rim. You think a mutated core makes you a god? Before the Sun, all shadows are eventually vaporized."

‎"Form the Sun-God Trial Array!" the lead legion commander roared.

‎Fifteen thousand spears thrust forward in unison. A blinding, radial wave of absolute white fire erupted from the golden shields, knitting together in the sky to form a massive, five-hundred-foot manifestation of a burning sun directly above the flagship. The heat was so extreme that the marble flagstones began to instantly melt into liquid glass.

‎Lu Chen slowly walked down the shattered prow of the ship, his bare feet stepping directly into the pooling liquid stone. He didn't lift his hands to build a barrier. He didn't draw a weapon. He looked up at the burning sun in the sky, a cold, predatory smile breaking across his marble-hard face.

‎"You call it a sun, Solarus," Lu Chen’s flat, layered voice echoed through the entire capital city, sounding like a mountain range fracturing. "I call it breakfast."

‎He took a single, heavy step forward. Deep within his belly, the Golden-Crimson Cosmic Core spun on its planetary axis, its multi-sided crystalline prism flashing with an insatiable, void-like hunger.

‎The Devouring Maw detonated on a continental scale.

‎Instead of fighting the white fire, Lu Chen created a localized black hole directly in front of his chest. The absolute, crushing suction wave was so violent that the space across the entire Imperial Square began to visibly warp and bend inward. The five-hundred-foot burning sun in the sky didn't descend to vaporize him; its structure was forcefully stretched, elongated, and violently dragged straight down into Lu Chen’s open palms.

‎Vrrr—!

‎The fifteen thousand paladins gasped in unison as they felt their own sun-gold Qi forcefully yanked out of their armor, flowing like a rushing river of liquid light straight into the youth's mouth and pores. The brilliant golden light of the capital was systematically eaten, the sky turning pitch-black as the absolute vacuum of the Shattered Mirror Technique devoured the empire's ultimate defense.

‎"Impossible!" Emperor Solarus shrieked from his floating platform, his majestic golden aura instantly flickering and dying out as he felt the gravitational pull of the vortex lock onto his own soul. "What... what realm are you?!"

‎Lu Chen stood in the center of the darkened plaza, his body radiating a flawless, metallic gold-and-crimson sheen as he completely digested the empire's light. His cosmic core hummed with a terrifying, planetary resonance, locking his anchor firmly at the absolute absolute peak of the Core Formation Realm, his eyes twin pools of spinning cosmic void.

‎"The shadow is dead, Emperor," Lu Chen whispered, his voice carrying the icy promise of a dying star. "And the sun is officially turned off."

‎The central chamber of the Star-Ship Foundry descended into a chaotic symphony of violence and creation. Colossal steam-powered gantry cranes whined under the weight of massive, four-inch-thick hull plates forged from dark Void-Iron—a rare, density-defying metal that could withstand the crushing gravity of the higher planes. Thousands of multi-limbed Iron-Weaver blacksmiths swarmed the split-open chassis of the Iron Sovereign, their heavy hammers raining a continuous shower of blinding orange sparks onto the deck.‎Lu Chen sat cross-legged at the absolute center of the exposed hull, directly above the ship's pulsing star-core. He had discarded his torn burlap cloak. His bare, marble-dense chest was a network of glowing, pitch-black cosmic veins that directly mirrored the newly installed copper conduits of the warship.‎"The ship’s skeletal framework cannot handle the sheer kinetic feedback of the Primordial Dreadnought Schema [1.1]!" "They’re drawing power directly from the Star-Strand’s main river-conduit!"‎Across the void, the three-mile-wide skull of the ancient cosmic beast began to violently shift.
