The following morning, right by the pool of the Granger Villa, a man sat on a lounge chair, his gaze fixed on the still surface of the water. Dressed in a white shirt, unbuttoned at the top, and dark slacks rolled just above his ankles, he looked every bit relaxed, but his clenched jaw and the untouched drink by his side told a different story.

The sun had barely risen, casting a soft glow across the villa grounds. The calm was deceptive.

A few feet away, on another recliner, an older man leaned over the figure of a sleeping young woman in a bikini. His hand brushed her thigh as he whispered something inaudible.

The moment his fingers moved higher, the girl stirred, then snapped awake.

“What the hell?!” she shouted, eyes wide in horror.

She shoved the man back with both hands, nearly knocking him off the chair. The old man stumbled, startled and flustered.

“Wait—baby, relax—”

“Don’t call me that!” she spat, already on her feet, grabbing her towel and heels in a rush. “You said I could

Abrill didn’t waste time. She practically dragged Sean across the street, ignoring his grumbles as she yanked open the door to the nearest upscale men’s boutique. The shop was pristine, well-lit, and smelled faintly of expensive leather and cedarwood. A few staff members looked up at their entrance, eyes flickering with interest.Abrill didn’t hesitate. She walked straight to the nearest rack and addressed a passing staff member with practiced ease.“I’m looking for something suitable for him to wear to a formal party. He’s a bit of a challenge, though.”The moment the words left her lips, a female staff gaze at her with a bright smile."Good afternoon, Miss Stroud," she greeted warmly. "Welcome. We've been informed of your arrival. Please, this way."Hearing that, Sean was sure that she had planned this from the very beginning and knew he wasn’t going to refuse the offer. Abrill gave a small nod in return, her heels clicking softly on the floor as she led Sean further in. The staff

Sean peered at her. He had completely forgotten that today was the launch of Rosalind’s new company, the one she had partnered on with the Strouds. He hadn’t even remembered the time. But one thing he was sure of: he probably wasn’t invited. Even though it had been clearly stated the previous night that everyone at the table was invited, he knew he wasn’t one of the people they had in mind. So, he shook his head.“No, I’m not willing to go.”Abrill studied him quietly after his refusal, wondering why he seemed so disinterested in attending the launch. Was it because of Rosalind? Or something else? Either way, she didn’t bring it up, not yet.Instead, she leaned back slightly, her voice casual.“By the way… why didn’t you include your ex-wife as one of the partners suitable for the Strouds?”Sean looked at her for a beat, then shrugged. “No particular reason. I just picked the two best options we had.” He paused, his tone still indifferent. “I had your assistant send them back to you

Sean blinked, then leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable once again. He hadn’t expected her to say something like that just to get a reaction out of him. Still, he was curious about the trouble that might be heading his way.If Vincent had someone behind him who might come looking for revenge, Sean needed to know who it was in order to deal with them effectively. However, he disliked the fact that something else might disrupt his peace and force him to give up more of his research time.“I’m just curious,” he responded coolly, his tone flat. “Since you’ve already made up your mind about me, I might as well listen.”Sighing, she crossed her arms before speaking.“Vincent might have acted all high and mighty in Granvetton, but he wasn’t the one people truly feared. He might’ve been the face of the terror—but he wasn’t the head of the organization, even though he liked to pretend he was.”Sean tilted his head, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Then who is? If Vincent was just a

Sean peered at Abrill, his eyes scanning her face. Judging by her expression, he tried to guess what she wanted to say, especially since he couldn’t think of any reason why she would visit every place he usually showed up in the mornings, to see him.And if it was truly that important, he had a feeling it was something he wouldn’t want to talk about or something he didn’t want anyone to ask him in the first place.Still, since it was her, he was willing to listen. After all, Abrill wasn’t someone who went out of her way to say something meaningless.“What do you want to talk about?” he repeated. She arched her brow and took a sip from her mug. “Have you heard the news going around about Vincent’s death?”He tilted his head slightly. He’d expected a serious question, but not this. Still, that didn’t stop him from answering—after all, it wasn’t like she knew he was involved.“No,” he replied honestly. “I haven’t heard the news yet.”He wasn’t lying. Even though he had been the one to de

  • CHAPTER 112

The announcement of the launch came immediately after the discussion between Chloe and Rosalind. Since Rosalind had finally made up her mind, the decision wasted no time in gaining attention.Within the hour, the news spread like wildfire across business networks, high-society circles, and social media platforms. Messages, calls, and congratulatory emails flooded in from every direction.Everyone wanted a piece of Rosalind now. Her name, once whispered in exclusive circles, was now spoken openly, with admiration and calculation.Soon, luxurious cars began arriving in front of The Lucent Hall, the elegant venue chosen for the launch. Its glass exterior reflected the soft morning sun, while well-dressed guests stepped out of their vehicles, escorted by staff to the entrance. The front lot filled quickly with black sedans, matte-grey sports cars, and limited-edition models. A separate valet team was dispatched to handle the overflow.Inside, the lobby was already buzzing. Waiters in cris

Since Vincent had come for Rosalind while looking for Sean, and he was Welsey’s right-hand man, there was a high possibility that Welsey might think the same way and come for them too.But this time, if Wesley was going to make a move, it might not be direct. He could go after the business first, in a way they wouldn’t be able to prevent. And that was dangerous.Chloe’s legs trembled as she spoke, her voice barely steady. “So… what do we do now? We can’t just sit and wait for everything to fall apart.”Rosalind was silent for a moment before muttering, “I have no idea.”Chloe turned to her, panic rising. “Should we reach out to Nate? Maybe he can help. Just talk to him.”“No.” Rosalind shook her head firmly. “He’s done enough for us already.”Chloe gripped her hands tightly, her face pale. “Then what are we going to do?” she whispered, her heart pounding. “We can’t just stand here and do nothing, Ms. Springfield.”Rosalind didn’t respond immediately. She stood still, eyes unfocused as
